Losing the game while trying to help https://elementscommunity.org/forum/index.php?topic=20969.msg267610#msg267610

When you are ingame and click one of the big banners, the link will open in the same window.
This causes the game you were in to be count as a loss.
This happened to me twice, so I thought it'd be best to let the developer(s) know.

Please make the banners (as well as the links to the forum imo) open in a new tab or new window.

Thanks!

They do. You just need to adjust your settings accordingly. All links on the main game page open in a new tab for me.

That's probably because you made adjudgements to your browsersettings.
By default the banners open in the same window.

I do not believe I adjusted that part of the setting. I typically adjust the homepage and what is displayed in a new tab options. But there is your solution. Change your settings and taa-daa, no more issue.

It depends entirely on the type of ad; image ads open in the same page; flash ads open a new window.

Proof:
Inspection of the Google generated image ads using Chrome Developer tools produces the frame:
<iframe allowtransparency="true" frameborder="0" height="90" hspace="0" id="google_ads_frame1" marginheight="0" marginwidth="0" name="google_ads_frame" scrolling="no" src="http://googleads.g.doubleclick.net/pagead/ads?client=ca-pub-4191186015425805&amp;output=html&amp;h=90&amp;slotname=8492303128&amp;w=728&amp;lmt=1297420720&amp;flash=10.2.154&amp;url=http%3A%2F%2Felementsthegame.com%2F&amp;dt=1297402720006&amp;shv=r20101117&amp;jsv=r20110208&amp;correlator=1297402720008&amp;frm=0&amp;adk=3230216923&amp;ga_vid=2086954689.1297402709&amp;ga_sid=1297402709&amp;ga_hid=1990252264&amp;ga_fc=1&amp;u_tz=-300&amp;u_his=2&amp;u_java=1&amp;u_h=768&amp;u_w=1366&amp;u_ah=738&amp;u_aw=1366&amp;u_cd=32&amp;u_nplug=29&amp;u_nmime=145&amp;biw=1366&amp;bih=677&amp;fu=0&amp;ifi=1&amp;dtd=12&amp;xpc=pg8DS6z0GM&amp;p=http%3A//elementsthegame.com" style="left:0;position:absolute;top:0" vspace="0" width="728"></iframe>

Following the link in the frame produces a page which includes:
<a id="aw0" target="_top" href="/aclk?sa=l&ai=BbSmaYctUTdPLOajqlQeJ_amhCr6aidIB1vu6vhTAjbcB8KIEEAEYASDi3aIOOABQnPHNuPr_____AWDJluuKtKTYD6AB6Jef9QOyARNlbGVtZW50c3RoZWdhbWUuY29tugEJNzI4eDkwX2FzyAEC2gEbaHR0cDovL2VsZW1lbnRzdGhlZ2FtZS5jb20vgAIBqQKNo8oUmde2PsgCltjnE6gDAcgDFegDkAnoAyf1AwAAAMQ&num=1&sig=AGiWqtxxlMgq3Pz7m7gy59oPubQeoZW4tA&client=ca-pub-4191186015425805&adurl=http://warofdragons.com/adv_mini.php%3Fsite_id%3D1_108_872%26partner_counter%3D1" onFocus="ss('go to warofdragons.com','aw0')" onMouseDown="st('aw0')" onMouseOver="return ss('go to warofdragons.com','aw0')" onMouseOut="cs()" onClick="ha('aw0')"><img src="/pagead/imgad?id=CMXI5YTL5-P_0gEQ2AUYTzIIf4dm5AUFHXY" border="0" width="728" onload="var b=document.getElementById('abgc');if(b){b.style.top=this.height-b.offsetHeight;b.style.visibility='visible'};" /></a>

target="_top" means that the link opens in the topmost frame (and not in a new window)

Since the ad code is generated by Google, though, I don't know how much zanz can do about it.
