Still losing quanta after canceling abilities/spells[not a bug]

So I click on Mutation from my hand to use it, then I cancel it, but I still lost 2 Entropy quanta. Same with using Destroy after using Butterfly Effect on a creature. I cancel destroy but I still lose the 3 quanta. It should give me back those quanta right?

This may not be a big deal, but when you change your mind and cancel a lot, it really stinks.

I'll copy-paste my answer to the somewhat the same question in another thread in the bug section:

What you're repporting is not a bug - it's the way it's supposed to be.

Elements handle cards in hand and activated skills differently. If you click on a card (such as Fractal) and decide not to use it, it goes back to your hand and you get your quanta back. On the other hand, if you activate a targeted permanent skill or effect (such as lobo, oty, anubis etc.) and cancel it, you'll loose both the quanta and the opportunity to use it on that turn.

Oh that's weird. That answers my question, but I don't like that too much. It seems that if you cancel, you should always get your quanta back, because the ability was never used.

There was a rapid click exploit where you could use the spell and quickly hit cancel to get the refund even though you used the ability.

This was put in place to prevent that.
