i am fed up watching as the computer plays Pillar cards and then manages to play cards such as swords IN THE FIRST TURN. This is not possible for human players to do. It puts the player at a real disadvantage!

Which level are we talking about here? A screenshot would help make things clearer, if you have one.
Are you sure those were pillars and not towers? Towers are upgraded pillars, that give one turn's worth of qunta when played.

With a bit of luck and the right cards, it's possible to play dragons and such in the first turn, human or computer :)

Yep, three immolations, three photons, and one crimson dragon can be a wonderful starting hand.

Hmm, Ok I have tried to reproduce this but cant - and now I realise I was likely mistaken, apologies for the false alarm. I suspect Nova cards (instant mana available to use) and the zero cost of dagger were the cause of my distress :)
