Dune Scorpion effect works after scorpion's death [Unconfirmed] https://elementscommunity.org/forum/index.php?topic=29051.msg370826#msg370826

opponent summons and Momentums 3 dune scorpions by turn 3 :(
I get up to 15 poison before I manage to get out an Oty and eat them all
However, every time I play a card I still get poison counters, even though there are no more dune scorpions on the table, including on subsequent turns.

Opponent playing cards does not increment the counter.

on version 1.284, gold-level Arena, fighting "Ace of Souls"

That's how Neurotoxin works.  All types of Poison don't lose their effects just because the card responsible for inflicting that Poison is removed from the field.  Furthermore, Neurotoxin counters only increase when the player affected by Neurotoxin plays cards from their hand.  It's a feature of Neurotoxin, not a bug.

er... this might be a stupid question, but how DO you counter something like this, then, if you aren't playing a deck with blue mana? especially when the opponent hits you on the first turn and you can't even get mana out before you get poisoned?

Defeat your opponent before the poison kills you. Playing a card increases your poison by one , but its still possible to win before it builds up too much.

This is the main reason why Dune Scorpions are pretty good FG grinders. Ways to counter:

-Outrush him before you die
-Try to deck him out (probably not the best idea)
-Purify

Don't forget healings (like SoG's, Sanctuaries, Heal, Shard of Sacrifice, SoD's, Emerald Staff, Luciferin)
