So I've played dozens of games using a fractal phoenix deck in which I'm up against a darkness deck. Every time there is a single devourer out early, it takes only the fire quanta. You may think I'm exaggerating, but I'm not. I've been using the deck for awhile and I've been keeping track. Maybe 1/100 times will that devourer take the aether quanta. Seriously, this has happened ever since I first started using my fractal phoenix deck, which was the day phoenix and fractal were released. I have never played a game in which I was able to get a phoenix out because of this. Never. Did I mention I've played dozens of games against these decks?

I've also noticed this, is it intentional?
Whenever I have a Devourer/Pest out, it goes for the quanta pile with the least quanta. (at the very least, there's bias for sure).

Demagog, is your mark :fire? I heard that Devourers target the quanta pile that your mark generates most often.

I'm not sure about yours, Username. Devourer sure are funny creatures.

I noticed that too, it nearly always drain the quanta pool with least quanta in it.

I never took stats but the feeling that devourers drain my mark-quanta as long as I only generate 1/turn sure has been with me.
As soon as you get more than just one/turn they seem to drain more evenly.  ???

My guess is that devourers roll for which colour based on what quanta you have. Which is a pain if you have a splash deck. So if for example I have 9 earth quanta and 1 time quanta, I'd like to think there's a 90% chance that a devourer won't take the time quantum but in fact it's 50%. Worst still, the more devourers they have the less chance you'll get of keeping your time quantum. Something like this:

1 Devouer - 50%
2 Devouers - 25%
3 Devouers - 12.5%
4 Devouers - 6.25%

It's a bit like flipping a coin and hoping you get heads each time. By the time you face three devourers it's not going to happen very often!

I assume this design is intentional :)

Where did you hear this? I'm 99,999% sure that it's totally random and people once again just let their imaginations take control.

Yeah, I've played one of those annoying Pest decks :P and I always wished I could direct which quanta they'd absorb, but it never happened.  The most annoying aspect (for me) would be when they wouldn't absorb the 1 quantum the opponent needed but instead gorged themselves on the mountain of superfluous other quanta he didn't require.

The best way to prove it to yourself is to make one of the decks and play it for a while.  You'll see it's no better than random, at least when they've got Quantum pillars out.
Bring back Holy Cow!

I'm very sure it targets the lesser pile. Whenever I play fractal elite chargers in T50 I lose all the grav which I have less of. My aether is hardly every touched even though I use aether mark.
