I used steal on an Inundation card.  The flood effect stayed on my side even though I was now the controller of the card.  Basically both sides were flooded, even though only one Inundation card was in play.  Not only the flood animation stayed, but my creatures also drowned.

I can post the pic if needed.

Both sides are meant to be flooded with this card, so stealing it is pointless.
It works in a similar manner to nightfall.

huh, that would be a good idea. mono darkness got stronger by a very SMALL amount.
