Well although having a creature with a free skill is nice, the maximum cost of an ability has always been 4 at most. And then to make it free you will need an extra card in your deck so a spot is taken up and you might never draw it. It only really sees use it rainbow decks or as an off colored card.

So I'm thinking adding something to the effect to make it more useable in decks

I think it should get back the ability to use the creature skill immediately, but cannot be used on a creature that already used its skill in that turn, to avoid a game-breaking combo with dive.

Anyone ever had troubles paying for this card? Cheaper cost wont make it better. At all.

that would be cool but then precog would be much less used than it already is...

I think the card should be left alone, it does its purpose. You front a little quanta to save quanta as the match progresses. Simple as that.

Precog is a good card that has its use. You'll see Precogs a lot in upped PvP.

It is not really simple as that. This card also requires a slot in your deck, and if you want to have any chance to draw it early enough, you need to take more of those in the deck making your deck phatter and more prone to bad draws.
Now, taking this in the deck just to save quanta in the long run is not really a good choice.
If you take it to fund off-element ability, you might get into a situations where your creature is dead on the board until you draw SoR.

The idea behind a shard is a good one, but as it is, I find it only really usable in control decks that can stall enough to draw it and set up the board. But control decks (which are mostly rainbows) dont really have quanta problems late game. I made 1 (ONE) solid deck that utilises SoRs well (well as in its not just a pretty card in the deck, but actually relies on SoRs) and has a decent chance against T50/HB, and some FGs, but I play it really only for fun as there are simply better deck choices for each opponent.

Well, in the ol' SoR I liked it's synergy with Anubis, which allowed to use them against FG's instead of Quints, so I could make FG decks without :aether.

And as far as I remember it was nerfed only because of 2 things - the Dive+SoR combo, and something Zanz said about how it doesn't give your opponent time to counter your strategy, or something along these lines.

Well, I guess limiting SoR to 1 use of ability / turn would solve the Dive+SoR problem, but I guess when it comes to Anubis my intentions are different than what Zanz stated, so I guess it might be hard to convince Zanz.

Still, for me it's a simple Quint or SoR decision and I'd prefer SoR. It does not change the counterability of the combo (except  the possibility of quanta denial draining :aether), but it would make Anubis more useful (I don't like the fact he's so reliant on Quint and that's the reason why most people chose Quint over Anubis).
May the force of the D4HK side be with U ^_^

This card is underpowered and i think speeding up ability use is a good idea... Think of the decks it would help with...
