Upped rainbow SN rushes were OP before the nerf. They could generate 4 creatures that deal 20 damage in turn 1. Similar thing was with unupped immolation when it generated 7  :fire. photon immo phoenix immo proenix immo phoenix by turn 2.

The nerf slowed down SN rush decks by requiring them to hold back a few SNs despite reaching 2 :entropy.
Some SN rush decks decide to risk the Singularity but waste a card to deal with it.
