One thought I have now is give :darkness quanta to the player equal to number of creatures given. Not that big a buff, but at least it's better than what we have now.

i was thinking nightmare could have an effect along the lines of: opponent can only play targeted creature for the next X rounds. in addition (or not) to its current effect.
it still counters fractal, and the new/added effect makes it more than just a 1 turn draw stall vs non-fractal decks.

I think, raise the cost to 7  :darkness or 8  :darkness, and then REPLACE every single card in the opponent's hand to the target creature, as well as filling it up. That would be a good buff.

Anti-Fractal much? Possibility to kill 7 cards for 8 :darkness sounds ridiculous.

Or stick 8 cards on top of your opponents deck, and then draw them until your opponents hand is full.

E.G, they'll be stuck drawing suck for a while, but they won't deck out either.

It's a buff, as the opponent plays nothing for a few turns or has a handful of relics for the rest of the game, which kills extra drawing and fractal.

Eww, nevermind me. I somehow remember that Relics disappear after you "play" them, but actually, they just waste quanta and sit in your hand.
Yeah, adding relics would be a true nightmare for the opponent.
