Lobotomizer used to be the bane of all growth decks. The destruction of all immortality decks. The humiliation of all chance decks.
It used to be the pride of aether. The unstealable skill. It was...unique. And powerful.

However, the power is draining. Anubis used to be a very common card. Unlimited immortal creatures. But it could all be felled by one well timed strike. But then, Immortality became something you could play from the hand. The weapon would wait, but would only manage to delay the invietable...the quinted skill creature.

Other elements managed to capture the skill to remove them. Entropy, Darkness and now Gravity and Life.
None as refined as the original, yet still useable.

Unless this sword is recrafted, I fear it will forever sit in the barracks, considered only a luxury and unecessary against the new perils of today...

(Poll will be updated when I find out the extend of the lobo of new cards, ex: whether they remove adrenaline)

while on one hand i think LOBO is fine as is, but you've convinced my other hand. perhaps make a new upgrade or aether weapon called Atrophyerm, which would be like a mass LOBO effect

So you are saying that Lobotomizer remains balanced but due to dilution of its uniqueness it will be unused?

I agree that its use has declined due to dilution. I also agree that Lobotomizer is balanced. I agree that if Lobotomizer were made more unique (with a cost adjustment to correlate with ability adjustment) that would be valuable.

I think it still should not affect passive abilities because passive abilities being unremovable means that is the perfect place for drawback abilities.
I think it should not be able to remove all status effects because some do not have anything to do with positive skills (infected, frozen, delayed)

While taking away adrenaline is useful, I think the main problem with Lobotomizer is speed. It should be able to use its ability the turn it is played, rather than waiting a turn.  This makes it as fast as the new cards, as well as becoming a damage source.

The lobotomizer can be constantly reused. None of the new cards can do that. It is my weapon of choice in almost any duo with aether.

Hmm...hadn't really considered that since I don't see too many Mind Flayer decks going around. Also, mind Flayer was an existing card right from the start of when I started elements (or it just appeared without my notice)

Quintessence was a huge nerf to lobotomizer. Before that, the only way to protect something was to use Anubis' ability and that too could be lobotomized. You play your anubis first-or you destroy it (Pulvie/Deflag/Steal). Otherwise, everything was a target.

However yes, seeing Lobotomizer as 'unique' again would be awesome.

Lobotomizer/MindFlayer is the only way to remove Momentum. (Butterfly Effect, Liquid Shadow, Mitosis and Acceleration do not)
None remove Adrenaline.

i think the lobo is fine. many never use aether at all. it has made a hole in many of my tactics. although i do think it should be able to get rid of passive abilities

Isn't Mitosis four :life?

I'm against this idea. It may make the card unique again, but the turn delay always seemed to me to be a part of what defined the game. Repeating effects like this should not be that fast.
Besides, IMO it wouldn't make sense for it to be that fast and the other weapons not to be. And... I don't really want a Pulverizer that smashes permanents the turn it hits the field.
