Steam machine 0|15 cost 5 :water+2 :fire
and grow 4 damage per turn
counters:
(14)rewind,eternity, grav pull,antimatter, twin universe(opponent),mutate,freeze,basilisk blood,phase shield,wing,gravity shield,iridium warden,mind flayer,liquid shadow
Firefly queen UPPED 3|7 cost 7 :air+2 :life
and spawn 4|2 firefly+1fire
counters:
(18)firewall, thorn shield, skull shield, plague,rain of fire,titanium shield, tower shield,retrovirus,otyugh,maxwell demon,phase shield,pandemonium, mind flayer,hope,owl's eye,unstable gas,pharaoh,liquid shadow
To sum up firefly queen cost more and has more counters.
She should cost at least 2 :air less!
To be fair, I think the steam machine counters are more effective.
And you're not accounting for FFQ's synergies, which are most of its appeal. Of course, A cost reduction IS needed. -1, perhaps, or -2 with an hp reduction... prone to CC but fast to get out and spam fireflies.
Do remember, you two, that Steam Machine loses 1 attack every turn.

So:

After 4 Turns:

Steam Machine = 13 attack.

FFQ (Upped) = 4x 4|2 creatures + 3 attack from itself = 19 damage and 10 fire quanta.

FFQ easily wins.

I don't think this needs a nerf buff.  The damage comparisons are all well and good, but ffq ends up generating quanta through the fireflies it produces as well.

When considering ffq versus steam machine or lava golem, there are (of course) both advantages and disadvantages to having just one card versus having several but overall i think having multiple cards is more advantageous.  The chief reason imo lava golem is the strongest of the three cards is its rush potential when combined with immolation.

Ffq isn't too great with just life and air quanta but it can be pretty useful in a rainbow deck.

EDIT: i was thinking nerf the cost i guess

I currently have a deck made of Sky Blitzes, FFQs, Hopes and a few Bonds. As other cards appear to counter FFQ, you need to add more and more cards around it to make it at all useful - which makes it a big no, since my deck has almost 50 cards and chance of getting it started fast is close to 0.

-1 :air would be nice, since you would no longer need that many cards around to get it going and to repay for the lost time.

Your formulas donesn't account for and damage reducing shield which greatly affects firefly queen more than steam machine and it doesn't account for the synergies that firefly queen has like hope or firebolt or empathic bond.

Overall I do feel it needs a -1 :air buff because it takes too long to get anything set up to compete with most cards.

I think it's fine as it is. And why do you guys compare it with Steam Machine and not Pharaoh instead? Remember that Firefly Queen's and Pharaoh's effect a similar to each other (generating smaller creatures).

Pharaoh being fully capable of running off of a mono-element might have something to do with that.

Except that it isn't. Pharaoh's generated creatures are for control. They have an in-element spawn ability, they have less attack, they have an off-element ability that is repeatable CC, and their HP depend on their number.

Scarabs have Swarm and Devour. I do not trust the average reader to be able to mentally adjust the numbers to compensate like I expect they can with LG, FFQ and SM. Generating quanta is easier to understand and mentally compensate for than a growing repeatable threat of CC. Also FFQ, LG and SM are Brute Force Win Condition cards. Pharaoh is a Control Win Condition card.

This card has an amazing potential in the right deck combination, heck i used to run one of the singlehandedly strongest dekcs n the game based on FFQ(before upgraded cards even existed).  Sadly it was a bit too effective and I ended up playing a contributing factor to its first nerf or two >_>.
