I feel with all the PC and current game play, protecting your permanents should be made a little better/easier? Recently I have played a lot of the same things over and over in Gold arena. Earthquakes, Steals, Explosions oh my!! ... It has become almost sickening to see all of the very non adventurous arena decks lately.. fire stall has now been replaced with "I poison you to death!!" In all the main problem I seem to be having is I cant add 6 protect artifacts without destroying any sort of flow with my deck. I think if protect artifact were to be changed to protect 1 target unupgraded and up to 2 targets upgraded, it would be used more and be of more value to the community. Just adding 1-2 of them with the upgraded effect would allow me to protect say, towers, sanctuary, and idk shield and weapon? Maybe it is too much to have it do that but i felt that adding a new card idea that would replace protect artifact wouldnt be the answer but possibly an enhancement upon it would.

What do you guys think?

Currently, there are way fewer PC than CC. And any PC only need to hit once to get rid of the perma.
While there are some CC with instant effect (RT, Devour, Paradox) the rest are HP-dependent. Wanna get rid Colossal Dragon? RT, no other can instant rid.

Besides, it is currently splashable, all right. No buff.

Its fine as it is i think, cause the power of the card depends on the permanents.

its fine as is? really? then why does noone use it? because splashable or not, it is not worth protecting just 1 item when you run into people using pulvy EQ and explosions and steals. protecting just your towers to have them steal and destroy the rest of your field sucks.

also, i did read that.. nothing in there was missed.. and i checked and didnt find PA in the list. i didnt go through every page but oh well.

Anyway...
People do use it. FG Decks, against PC-heavy gods. To protect that one Eternity or the Sanctuary.
Or Dim Shield + PA? Now that's scary.

Reason why:
1. You usually have reserves anyway
2. That one slot could be used to pack more damage

It is balanced as it is. People just rarely use it because of its defensive nature. Same reason why Warden / Diss Shield are rarely used.
And balancing does not take into account the card popularity (except if people don't use it because it's weak, that's another story), only card power counts.

the way PC has upped lately shows we need to be able to protect our things. i know FGs and arena are not meant for balancing but given the fact that i havent been able to win more than 1-2 out of 6 games straight due to constant EQ, explosion, steal etc plus all the lame black holes this game is really becoming no fun.. the lack of originality in the decks is really gone out the window. even just adding 2 "enhanced" PAs would help in all areas and would make it even more useable to all.

Aside from pulverizer, there really shouldn't be many worries about Pc in the first place. Its fine as is.

The more potent and available Permanent Control becomes, the more (not less) valuable Anti-PC becomes. If PC ever becomes as available as Creature Control then Protect Artifact would be nerfed to be closer to Quint.

No. It will be OP otherwise. Every elements will have access to the only perma protection.
I smell Dim PA.

Well, with SoF coming along(unless it's heavily changed), colorless PA will be almost mandatory for Perm-heavy decks.

Well, with SoF coming along(unless it's heavily changed), colorlessIn element PA will be almost mandatory for Perm-heavy decks.
If SoF comes out OP then permanent heavy decks will include Earth marks.

Protect artifact becomes a PC... same ability as graviton salvager... PA becomes priority PC concern... add earth drain per turn to reduce steal overpower and PA effectiveness

Lol. I think this card would see a lot more use if PA stood for both Protect Artifact and Plate Armor.

Proposed Change:

Protect Artifact 1 :earth

Target Permanent or Stack of Permanents and all Permanents of the same name can not be targeted by any skill.  Permanents that are played after Protect Artifact are unaffected.


This change would not have any affect on stacking permanents, but it would allow for multiple unstackable permanents to be protected at once.  It would also protect the upped and unupped versions of stackable permanents for players with partially upped decks.

How it would work:
Player plays two Hourglasses.  Player plays Protect Artifact on one of the Hourglasses.  Both Hourglasses are now protected.  If an opponent has an Hourglass, that Hourglass also becomes immortal.  If a player plays a third Hourglass, that Hourglass is NOT protected.

The limitation to permanents played afterwards would be to limit abuse of permanents such as Dimensional Shield and Sundial.  I am not sure what the ruling should be on how this would affect Bone Wall.
