How about if any creature that attacks cockatrice is petrified? That would be a nice small thematic buff.

All these ideas are good, however Cockatrice is one of the few vanilla creatures in the whole game which has an excellent synergy with Luciferin-Hope decks. If you put an active ability on it, you will ruin this wonderful synergy... 

I wasn't suggesting an active ability. It would be like when Otyughs eat a poisonous thing and they get poisoned. Not every ability in Elements is a skill.

You mean passive? In that case, I vote cockatrice gains airborne.

Cockatrice isn't UP at all.  Its defense makes it immune to 90% of CC (at least for the first hit), including the all-annoying Maxwell's Demon.  And in unupped PVP you'll always see newbies mistakenly waste a web on it since according to the artwork it's obviously airborne

Point, willing. Though they usually choose not to, and most cant sustain it due to being overfed, and our buddy looks way overfed.

Wikipedia and the Monster Manual say Cockatrice can fly, I support airborne, but with an art change to resemble an actual cockatrice instead of an obese chicken,

Cockatrice has 2 usual depictions:
1. A dragon with rooster's head with petrifying gaze.
2. A variant of grounded harpy, which can't fly.

To avoid confusion, i assume this game uses the second depiction, which actually fits the game aside from the artwork.
As for creatures with petrifying gaze, there are bailisk, catoblepas, gorgon, and such. Which is (again, assumed to be) not the case with this card.

I'm speechless...           
 I knew chickens could use their wings in order to do big jumps or accelerate their movement (like running), however flying for enough time in order to climp a tree, now that's new.
 After seeing this, I suggest Cockatrices should have a skill like the following:
1  : Shortflight, Cockatrice/Elite Cockatrice gains airborne until the end of turn.
 But I still like it as a vanilla creature, so I will also suggest a passive ability for it:
"Cockatrice/Elite Cockatrice has airborne every second turn."

Well being airborne is also a good buff for life against silly wings. Wings OP.
