Will this get a poll?
I support giving Abyss Crawler an ability.
Thematically,
is efficient, direct, and simple, so it is fitting for the basic creature to have no ability, but with efficient stat/cost ratio.
is grounded, unfrivolous, and sturdy, so its basic creature gets a free boost in HP, and is resistant to lightning. The Abomination is not really supposed to be one particular creature, but represents the average randomly mutated creature. Water, however, is the element of alchemy, balance, and flexibility - it is the element with the largest amount of creature abilities, and the one with direct synergy with the highest number of elements (Chysaora:
; Mind Flayer:
; Toadfish:
; Steam Machine:
; Nymph Queen.....
). It would make sense for its basic creature to have a
ability.
Balance-wise, Blue Crawler is... really abysmal (ironically, Abyss Crawler is not...). As previous posts have already mentioned, Flesh Spider has Webs, Wyrm has Dive, everything else has better stats.
I'd also like to add that the Abomination doesn't actually need to be played - it randomly occurs when things get mutated. Kind of like the Skeleton, which is another 1-cost-for-1-attack-and-1-defence creature. Except even the Skeleton gets a minor synergy with Reverse Time.
So... my proposal for its ability:
Homeostasis:
Restore Blue Crawler's attack and HP to the default numbers and remove all poison counters on Blue Crawler.
(or call it 'Rebalance'?)
Reasoning:
Thematically, Water is about balance, healing, and stability. This ability fits all three.
Water's most distinguishing feature, asides from Nymph's Tear, is its ability to counter poison (via Purify). This ability is something like a miniature, self-only Purify.
Cost-comparison with using Purify on Blue Crawler:
+ Able to use ability as many times as is desirable
+ Does not require an additional card
+ Counters Antimatter
- Can be Lobotomized, Liquid Shadowed, Basilisk Blooded, Guarded, Frozen, etc. and then poisoned to death.
- Will not prevent 2 more poison counters from being applied
- Can not take HP past 3 (in fact, it would negate buffs like Bless and Momentum (only the +1/+1, not the Momentum ability))
Also, it would make Blue Crawler pretty much immune to the
shield (albeit requiring a
input every other turn), which makes sense - it's all covered in water
Think of the
cost as re-wetting itself =9
