[Official] Arctic Squid l Arctic Octopus https://elementscommunity.org/forum/index.php?topic=21049.msg268733#msg268733

after looking at the "nerf arctic squid" post and making some arguments against a nerf, i have decided to try and buff it. brilliant card, perfect for CC but with 1 problem. it can be killed so easily, putting it into play is almost giving it the same effect as ball lightning. it will die almost immediately. i must say that, having used it in my combination rush/stall deck, it really needs at least a hp buff. actually that's all it really needs. it's attack is completely insignificant and having the ability to attack at all puts it up for damage against fire buckler. it's not a very powerful card for a rare and needs at least a little perking up.

+3 HP would help it a lot I think. And then +1 cost to balance it out.

+1 hp might be okay, but it would annoy me not being able to to snipe them in one turn

i voted for more attack

More attack makes no sense to me, that's not what the squids are used for. It can even lower their chances of survival in some cases.

I don't think it needs a change that much but if it's going to be anything, add a small amount of hp (+ 1 or +2). +3 would mean shockwave is out of KB reach, wich is ridiculous.

as i said the main problem is the hp. a reduction in attack would also do more good than bad as it would make the squid/octopus become completely invulnerable to all shields. i think +2 to hp is best but i could easily sit with +1

That's the problem. It dies too easily to anything before it can freeze it. Also more HP would make sense thematically, which is one of the things this game needs a bit more of.

I just hate how the squid gets disabled/destroyed by CC as soon as it enters the game. Normally I save them until I have 2 or 3 and then play all at once if I'm sure my opponent has CC.  I don't think a utility card - because that's what the squid is - should be that vulnerable. It's a backup monster, but far too weak. Trade 1 defense for 1 attack point and leave the ability and cost untouched, that's what I suggest. The squid will be far more effective with 0|4 than with the current settings, since it won't be affected by damaging shields, and will survive some CC (EE: 2 shots, 2 Firestorms etc.).

-1 Attack
+2 or 3 HP
-1 Ability Cost
+1 Play Cost

Killybob. In both the buff and nerf sections, there are threads that you are supposed to read before posting.
SG thoughtfully stickied them, so they would always be at the top of the page.
It was also thoughtfully named 'READ THIS FIRST' in all caps, just so it would grab your attention.

It may have helped that I've referenced it, linked it, or even quoted it on many of your posts here.

This forum section is for posting card buffing suggestions.

Here's what you do:

1. Pick a card that you think is weak and needs buffing (you can only pick ones that haven't been already picked)
2. Start a new topic where you include a picture of that card and a short explanation on why you think this card needs a buff, and how it should be buffed.
3. Add a poll that says something like: "How do you think this card should be buffed?". Poll options could look something like this:

  • "The card is perfect. It should NOT be buffed".
  • "The card needs a minor buff -> *insert buff here"
  • "The card needs a medium buff -> *insert buff here"
  • "The card needs a major buff -> *insert buff here"
  • "The card should be totally changed or removed from the game
Ths applies for both the buff and nerf sections. If you are in the nerf section, feel free to change those options to nerf rather than buff.

I'm only doing this because of repeated posts whch do not follow the trend. Please don't be discourgaged from posting in this section because of some uptight guy with some life symbols, discussion here is valued and appreciated. However, if you would like to make a permanent home in the Buff/Nerf section, we would appreciate it if you would wipe your feet at the door.

ya i agree it does need more health its ability and cost are fine and it defintly doesnt need attack at all also its a good rare to have because of its unique ability but it is so weak that it can be taken out without much resistance
The Devil what more is there to say.
