Nobody denies that EtG is RNG based. But it's RNG+two levels of choices that determine the outcome in EtG, versus your game which appears to be based almost 100% on the RNG. There is much less input from the player in your game. Of course, that's not a fair comparison, since the task wasn't calling on you to make a game to compare to EtG, but you're the one who brought the comparison up, I believe.

That's a fair answer. 99% of rng versus 100% rng, its not the same, I will agree here.

I’m very busy this week and the next, so won’t be able to post in-depth about each piece. I’ll just describe the main reason for each vote.

Royalty

The problem with Pyro and S7’s art is that they don’t really seem to show people travelling. The paintings look great , but they fail to convey the feeling of adventure. I really liked frog’s animation. The singing felt a bit over the top for Grip, but the description was good enough.

Grip: 5
Frog: 5
Pyro: 0
S7:  0

Bard

Didn’t like FROGS’s one at all because it looked bland design-wise, and also wasn’t really something that seemed scary. S7’s art is cute, but it looks a bit confusing and empty with all the white space and the perspective. I liked grip’s art, though there should maybe be a PG-13 warning :P But pyro takes thewin clearly here, beautifully done art.

Grip: 4
Frog: 0
Pyro: 5
S7:  1

Crusader

I liked pyro’s story, though I must say Jade Dragons don’t fit either as a pile-of-useless-jade or in the deck too well. Grip’s deck tells a good story too, and the deck works beautifully. I like how S7 didn’t go with the stall idea, though making a 6 AM cremarush isn’t a very good way to go either. FROGS had a good deck too. Everyone’s pretty close here.

Grip: 3
Frog: 2
Pyro: 3
S7:  2

Enchanter + Scribe

I know it’s hard to come up with interesting monsters as cards and as subjects of stories. All the stories came out bland, and the cards were only mildly exciting. With one exception: Tentacle’s Grip. I fell in love with the cards, especially the concept of transforming permanents into creatures for a turn. And it was all tied together with a beautiful story. Yes, at times the language was, well, “mandrake-worthy”. But it felt real, and got me to relate to the Shaper. And you even made the fight scene cool to visualize. So I’m gonna award full points to Grip on both, filling out the rest based on who did slightly better. Also, I felt like pyro’s stories were all very boring and would’ve prolly been better had they been pieced together into one narrative.

Enchanter-
Grip: 5
Frog: 2
Pyro: 1
S7:  2

Scribe-
Grip: 5
Frog: 2
Pyro: 1
S7:  2

Wizard

FROGS is just glorified snakes and ladders. Not very playable on the road, and not very fun either with all the randomness. Shellstring sounds fun, but it’s not very original and also not something you can just start up. In that regard Pyro and S7’s games work perfectly. Pyro’s is a cool way to build up morale, though I’d like a more concrete game. And so S7 takes the prize as best, with a wonderfully brief explanation for a game which seems nicely balanced and fun.

Grip: 1
Frog: 0
Pyro: 4
S7:  5

Bonus

None of the submissions really wow me, and none could use the signs for Brawl 6 in an interesting fashion. So I’ll just go with the cleaner-looking ones.

Grip: 1
Frog: 4
Pyro: 4
S7:  1

Spoiler for Royalty:
I enjoyed all submissions in this task! Among all 4 submissions I think Pyrocloak's is the weakest one, as they presented with the least components that represent themselves. TTG's song is a very successful example of showing the power of words over visual representations. S7 had the balance with a vague drawing (which I interpret as having a shady character of team S7 themselves) and a diary with other tasks in this round carefully described, which makes it a very solid submission. F.R.O.G.S. presesnted with a simple drawing GIF which I found extremely amusing and entertaining.

Spoiler for Bard:
Art task has always been the most controversial because most of the time all submissions are good in its own way. I think all the submissions here matches the theme, and the pictures themselves are very well drawn with their style.
TTG's comic is really entertaining and made me laugh like an idiot (while I am at work). Both Pyrocloak's and S7's submissions are very accurate with their own style, but I actually like S7's more because it describes a most fearsome creature in such a playful sense. F.R.O.G.S.'s ghosts are a bit strange though. Why 13? Why ghosts? Also it is ONE boggart, how does it transform into 13 ghosts? Many questions need to be answered here.

Spoiler for Crusader:
I will start with this: all submissions are worth at least 4 out of 5. Funnily enough, 3 decks inlcuded antimatter, and the last one is a deckout deck. I am not sure why stalling is the best option against Goblins, but I guess it works. The idea of stalling means that you are going to make goblins into fatigue, so that they will retreat or cannot fight anymore. With this assumption I would think F.R.O.G.S.'s deck is the most effective one, as they actually give SoD to the goblins to make them go away. TTG's approach is a very classic one. It has everything to answer the problems by goblins.
S7 and Pyrocloak's decks are absolutely weird in a sense that they should be swapped, like totally. S7's deck represents a feast and hapiness and joyful moments with the goblins, which is so similar to the Royalty task of Pyro in R1. I would happily give a solid 5 to this deck if it is from Pyro. Pyro however uses a deck which describes an ambush tactic, which is such an S7 thing. Anyways, both decks are still solid.

Spoiler for Scribe:
I will remember this next time: Save the longest story until the very end. TTG's story is long, but after reading that I was like watching an episode of TV series. Great job.

Spoiler for Wizard:
The game is supposed to be easy, according to the task requirement. S7's game matches this requirement, and the fact that it stays in people's mind all the time is the killer here.

Spoiler for Enchanter:
All of the cards are almost equally good. Shapeshifter from F.R.O.G.S. is a bit complicated. Also Spring Familiar/Life Familiar is two totally different cards, which is weird.

TIME is around us. It flows silently, trying to take everything away from us.

ROYALTY

What i was looking here was a detailed image of characters/description of characters. But what i got was more of landscape and not much character. So points went evenly (nearly), and hence i see no point discussing this.

BARD

SSSSSSSSSSSSS: I quite like the idea. But perhaps its a bit much on funny side and not scary enough. That bug thing should be more scary...perhaps a choice of different colours would have helped here.

FROGS: As much as i liked it, it was a bit bland. Next art task, i want to see a bit more detail and a lot more happening in the image.

TTG: I really liked it. Ticked all the things. Well done. (deja vu?)

Pyro: Pixel is not really my thing (deja vu?), though i appreciate the art and the idea.

CRUSADER
One thing i wanna say - No point testing fully upped decks against ai3. Every upped deck will beat ai3.

FROGS: idk if i buy too much into the bribery thing. Good deck, but not very creative.

SSSSSSSSSS: I really liked it. Especially how fitting the descriptions were. Nicely done.

Pyro: Could have been more creative again.

TTG: Well explained, decent deck. Though i wonder what happens if goblins attack the squids and kill them?

ENCHANTER

One idea for teams is to have a sample deck with your cards too. Just a brief idea is sufficient too. Shows that you have put thought into how card can work with other cards in the game.

Pyro: I liked the spider, thought the manticore seemed OP. Masked crab seemed a bit UP, also not very original.

FROGS: Shapeshifter was a decent card. Balanced, but idk if i like the idea of a card summoning another card here :/ Pelican should have more hp, but apart from that, a nice way to give life cc (might have heard about a similar idea to this before though). Familiar - idk how it would work out. Too OP or not much use, not sure. Seems a little too simple though

SSSSSSSSSS: Hmm, i liked the mud lurker a lot and that boosted your points. Leaf flick seems a bit too strong, with lobo on stick costing 0 quanta. Stalkwing needs more hp to acc survive and be useful.

TTG: Good cards, good mechanic, like it.

Scribe

SSSSSSSSS: Eh, don't know if i like the idea of 1 para per creature.

TTG: I dont really like long stories. Though, thankfully, this one had a lot of dialogues and character interaction, so it was acc good, and got top marks.

Pyro: Dont know if i liked the idea of 3 seperate stories. Seemed a lot descriptive but a bit dull.

FROGS: Contrary to CO, i acc liked the fight scene. Though interesting to see how the team escapes now. Also, it was just the right length.

Wizard

SSSSSSSSSS: Simple and good. I would enjoy playing it. Though could have involved a bit more strategy.

Frogs: Seems too complicated and time consuming to set up. Not sure if possible to acc play in the situation.

TTG: I really liked the idea. Seems to be pretty fun too.

Pyro: I originally did like the idea and it was well written. Though, not much of a game. Perhaps involving someone to act out using the object with someone being a dragon and giving points to the best one, or just giving points to the most funny one (similar to CAH? ) would make it better.

Bard

TTG: Best submission. Though, i was only able to see it completely after zooming in. It didnt look like fire from a dragons mouth originally. May need a bit of tweeking.

Pyro: simple and easy to understand. I liked it however i can't see it as an icon. Bit too simple/bland for that.

SSSSSSSSS: The 6 is hard to see, need a stronger colour of blue. Also, i first thought that was sand, not gold XD

Frogs: the 6 is squashed up and i got no idea what the two things next to it are, pincer?

Will keep it very short this time, because I've been busy.

Royalty
Another vocal submission from JCJ, and the song is really good. The rest of the submissions were not bad, but they didn't feel like anything special.
Winner: TTG

Bard
TTG's comic was really well made, while the others didn't feel like anything special, so again this takes the prize.
Winner: TTG

Crusader
S7's deck felt most creative to me. The rest were all stalls, which I dind't feel was super-interesting.
Winner: S7

Bonus - Enchanter
Lots of cool cards. Shapeshifter is one of my favs, but FROGS's otehr cards weren't as good. My next two favs is mud lurker and stalkwing, mud lurker is a cool hitter with a one time cc, and stalkwing have a ver interesting form of mitosis.
Winner: S7

Bonus - Scribe
TTG's submission was really cool. a nice story. The others were good, but lacked either depth or was too seperated.
Winner: TTG

Wizard
Honestly, I'm not a big fan of any of the games presented. TTG's seems pretty good, but a few things were abit unclear. When can no more shells be added? And how does the secret orders fit into this? Pyrocloaks gets my vote for best game, and the extra story was a nice touch.
Winner: Pyrocloaks

Bonus
FROGS's feels like the cleanest design, which I believe is best for a forum icon.
Winner: FROGS

Feedback on the tasks below. I will take questions, though I will not change the points given.

Voint allocation will not be discussed. I will do my best to stick to a voint scheme of 4-3-2-1. Unless otherwise mentioned, this is the voint scheme used.

Spoiler for Royalty:

Task: Depict your team traveling across your country's unique landscape!

Considering the task did allow some freedom in the interpretation of depicting, I was not looking for any medium in particular. However, because of this, it made it hard to compare across differing mediums. However I did try to look at how finished of a product the submission came across as. Furthermore, the more immersed I felt, the better.

TG - Definitely one of the stronger submissions. I enjoyed the fact that the country was depicted using the team's fortes. Having said that however, I did try to analyze it from that perspective, expecting top notch musical quality as JCJ often provides. Great lyrics to "Landscape Song", though it felt a bit long, and I'm sure the title could've been a bit more inspired. Also, some parts were a bit pitchy, and the final chorus seemed a bit disjointed with the extra voice being layered over the harmony considering the timing was a bit off, but I understand it must be tricky to coordinate. All in all though, a catchy melody with a descriptive and immersive tale.

Fr - Hm. For a landscape that could've had a lot of green, there wasn't much colour, if any. Ok, so this medium wasn't your strongest, I'm sure there could've been other ways to represent the landscape. I did like the implied movement however, but largely one of the weaker submissions if not the weakest.

P - For some reason, I was quite fond of the medium. It looked as though it was a pastel painting that someone took a picture of. Strongly depicted artistically, but I would've loved to see a bit more detail and perhaps an accompanying flavour text or tale. My favourite part is definitely the touch of green on the right, as though flora is doing its best to grow in an arid land. Not bad at all.

S7 - Moving past the stylistic qualms I have with the submission, I am left a bit confused by what the image shows. It's clear who is there and I love this aspect of the submission, and I can almost feel the emotion of each character through the details, but as fair as landscape goes I'm left feeling like I want more. The tale is decent, but it shouldn't have to explain what the image is showing, it should only be the cherry on top of a great and immersive depiction.

Spoiler for Bard:

Task: A Boggart is lying in wait for you. Boggarts are mysterious creatures - as soon as you look at one, it takes on the form of your worst fear.
What does this Boggart look like?

Voint distribution: 4 3 3 0

Naturally we all have different fears. I, however, am not looking for something spooky looking or what classical fears might embody. Of course, if there is shock value, that is a good thing. Tailor make it to your people, perhaps even an elemental theme.

TG - Loved the fact that it made me laugh. Also, this is what made me understand what all the profile pics are, lol. I've seen enough to know where it was heading, but I found it funny and a bit creepy where the ink was coming from, and was unsure what it represented. Either they were horrified by the tentaclown, or it was right up their alley. Certainly took an unconventional approach to depicting something that would be a worst fear, but I enjoyed it. Having said that I felt like the almost slapstick nature of the fear and the comedy didn't sit well for me. All in all, a great submission though.

Fr - Why 13? Why ghosts? I'm left with more questions than answers. Seems a bit stereotypical and I'm left a bit confused as to why this particular design was chosen. Maybe written lore might've fared a bit better and gone into more explicit detail. One of my worst fears? Copypasta. The submission did what it had to do, but it felt quite eh.

P - With a great pixel artist comes great pixel art. The lore content and the way it unfolds is great, the execution of the art is on point too. Top notch. The only other way I could see this improving is that the fear not be as literal and stereotypical as a (large?) spider.

S7 - When it comes to large landscapes, something is missed, but in individualizing each character and representing emotion, that's where this artist shines, and in it comes at a perfect point through this submission. I might've prefered a bit more background work, but a strong submission overall.

Spoiler for Crusader:

Task: You encounter a horde of greedy-looking goblins on the road, hoping to steal your stuff!
The goblins want three things: they want something valuable, they want to eat, and they want to kill everything that's not made of goblin flesh.
Make a deck to kill, scare off, pacify or otherwise get rid of these goblins, taking into account at least one of these needs!

Specifically, I would like to see an effective deck on its own right that does what the task requires. Elemental affinity, if any, is a cherry on top. Dazzle me.

TG - Submission: on point. I'm seeing an effective deck on its own right, with proof to boot that handily satisfies all the requirements and meeting all the needs of the goblins. Elemental affinity: cherry on top. Almost makes me hungry too. Great work.

Fr - Elemental affinity: out the window. Having said that, however, an excellent deck with a great tale about how the deck worked. Would've also have loved to see screenshots seeing how this deck works against AI3, AI4 or even Bronze Arena. All in all though, a fairly strong submission.

P - Had this been submitted by the F.R.O.G.S. I think they would've gotten more points simply for the elemental touches.  Elemental affinity aside, I like the deck and the ingenuity behind it, satisfying task requirements and being a decent deck on its own. Once again, would've loved to see screenshots of the deck winning, but I too can see the strategy playing out as described. What makes this one stand out a bit ahead of other non-affinity decks is that the planning tried to be as conservative as possible. Conserving resources is a good thing and I loved seeing that in this submission.

S7 - Also another great submission. Would've loved to see at least a few Darkness cards, but the deck seems great on the side of lore but a little bit lacking on the side of an actually effective deck. I'm sure just due to upgrades that it would get some wins against AI3, but despite it being a great submission lost a few points there as well. You lost resources too!? It seems like those goblins single-handedly ransacked you of your food and your wealth. I like that the lore has a twist to it, but it's mitigated by the fact that, by your own admission, the goblins outsmarted you! You need your resources if you're going to last your way to the Dragon.

Spoiler for Enchanter & Scribe:

Task: On your journey you meet some strange creatures you have never seen before!
Enchanter: Create 2 or 3 cards to represent each creature that you met!
Scribe: Write what happened when your team met the creatures!

I should firstly say I'm holding Enchanter tasks to a much higher standard and will analyze them with more refined scrutiny than other tasks. As a Card Curator I am specifically looking for card designs that would make sense for the task and for inclusion in EtG.

Specifically, for this task, I'm looking for clean, elegant designs, and creatures with elementally suitable mechanics and thematics. Regarding the story, I'm looking for it to be riveting while also being immersive.

TG - Innovative mechanics wins you points, though I feel like Basalt Shaper's is more suited for Earth than Vinegrabber's is for Life. Mechanically speaking, however, I don't think it would be the greatest to program 'memory' of which permanent was which Basalt Shaper and something may get lost in translation, so though there are some interesting mechanics I feel like something gets lost on the end of thematics and the cleanliness of the submission. Also, I certainly wouldn't have minded seeing some Water creatures either. Regarding the story, I felt it was fairly immersive but I would've liked to see something a bit more succinct, and perhaps more reference to tentacles traversing 'land' and the hilarity that can ensue. More is not always better, again. Overall fairly strong submission.

Fr - I am liking the fact that these are largely Life creatures. Especially the fact that 2/3 of them have mechanics quite appropriate within the element. Mimic and Recombobulate seem a bit convoluted, however they are overall well done. Brown Pelican seems a bit too aggressive within the element, though that is more a personal preference. I also really liked the fact that the story incorporated elements of previous submissions such as the Deja Vu ability belonging to DoubleCapitals. It creates a sense of continuity in the storytelling that isn't segmented between rounds. I like this and hope to see this more from not only F.R.O.G.S. but all Brawl teams as well. One of the stronger submissions.

P - One of my favourite submissions due to some very strong factors. Continuity: Referencing the Scavenging Spider from the Bard task, brilliant. Overall interesting mechanics though I find the mechanics oddly housed. That is to say, why is Earth doing any poisoning or incorporating pseudo-Dive mechanics. Simple, succinct and detailed tales also complement the card submissions. Well-executed card generation (the text, the capitalization, the names of the skills, etc.) has also not gone unnoticed. Kudos.

S7 - Somewhere in between confusing and unnecessary creature mechanics and strictly thematic story creatures, I became a bit disenchanted. Flying Foliage having the same attack as a Phoenix? Hm, something seems a bit off. The creature still need to seem appropriate in the EtG universe while being a part of the lore. Having said that, all submissions were decent, this one just had either awkward mechanics, or oddly written card text, or mechanics that wouldn't be used unless the right conditions were met. Use of capitalization and more imagery would've also enhanced the story and brought it to another level. I can't say the submission was bad, just many small details hurt the overall picture.

Spoiler for Wizard:

Task:
Lots of walking makes people sad. Create an easy game for your troops to play amongst themselves while walking, to keep themselves entertained!

Specifically, I'm looking for a fun, innovative game that wouldn't take too much time or concentration, you do still have to keep aware of your surroundings after all! Presenation and elemental affinity are the cherries on top.

TG - Loving this submissions partly because it seems like a Frostcracken CaH, though the similarities aren't too many. I like the way it was presented, though it seemed to not have been fully described. Part of me also likes the fact that it's not crazily competitive and that it's focus is to make people laugh but I didn't appreciate the subjectivity of humour as a gauge to have players win rounds. All in all though a well-presented and succinct, short game that can be played on land or in sea. Though I did catch that typo! Yes, the elemental affinity worked in your favour.

Fr - Not that the game seemed bad in the least bit, but it seems to take quite a while to set up, learn and play. Time and attention are your allies in this journey and it seems that Frogopolis gobbles down both. Seems like a well, thought out game, however, it has to be a nice, easy game that can essentially be ditched in case a Brown Pelican swoops down on you! Mainly because of this I felt the submission was a bit weaker than some of the others.

P - A game about imagination and storytelling? Not feeling it. I know that I Spy is considered a game, but even that simple game has more structure than what was described in this submission. It didn't feel like a game in the least bit, though it was nice to know that this moment boosted morale when it was low. Just wasn't quite a game as far as I'd consider it. So at least for me, it didn't quite satisfy the game requirement, despite leaving people entertained and revitalized.

S7 - Simple game with easy instructions, I just hope that it isn't a blatant copy of said DootDanger's game. In any case, seems like a fun number game on the go, and the simplicity won you points.

Spoiler for Bonus:

For frogs art, a lot of people are asking why 13. Well, 13 is one of the unlucky numbers that some people believe in, so there you go~

My votes where:

ROYALS: TG > P > S7 > F

All teams represented in one way or another their team. I voted mostly on how strong the imagery about the places the team goes through was.

BARD: P > TG > S7 > F

Not really impressed by any of the submissions this time. Piro and TG were the best from a technical point of view. Extra points to Piro for being spookier.

SADER: TG > S7 > F > P

TG wins hands down due to originality (no AM) with S7 right behind for not being a stall.

ENCHANTER: S7 = TG = F > P

With the exception of Pirocloacks the cards considered as sets were around the same level of quality

SCRIBE: TG > S7 > P > F

Cookie points for TG for writing something that was very engaging. The different take S7 used got extra points from me too.

WIZARD: S7 = TG = P > F

I truly didn't understood the FROG game. All others had their merits and I couldn't tell which was best.

BONUS: F > TG > S7 > P

Going for looks FROGS have the best icon. TG would also make a good icon, if only it had more contrast - using fire AND a red dragon was a poor choice (if this icon is used I suggest changing the dragon color). I would not want to win the icons S7 and Piro submitted if I were playing.

(For Linkcat)

Apart from being boring, was there anything else notably wrong with the Scavenging Spider story?
How wonderful that we have met with a paradox.

Even if it's a surprise attack, taking 60% casualties from a single encounter kills any sense of your army being threatening.

Now that the voting ended, I think it is fair to explain our bard's task in more detail.
Our Bard is supposed to have two kind of phobias; ghosts and the number 13. These phobias are both quite common human phobias, that's the main reason this task had not a bigger explanation, a mistake we have regretted of course.
So, the Boggart turned into 13 ghosts in its attempt to include both phobias at once.
A single Boggart can turn into whatever it wants because its powers are actually an illusion. If you are afraid of a certain landscape the Boggart can still transform into that landscape. If you are afraid of two people, the Boggart can transform into both of them at once. In our case, if 13 ghosts are scary to you, the Boggart can transform into 13 ghosts, so here you are...
