Time's up!

Challenging countdown:
Challenge's up!

The Brawlmaster Likes Snacks

Councillor Naesala, in her infinite wisdom, watches the proceedings, slowly eating a bowl of M&Ms.
"The voting will be beginning soon," she utters as a red, shaggy figure bows before her. "You know what must be done."
"Uh..." her protégée hesitates. "...post the threads?"
"Yes post the bloody threads, I can't be bothered I'm eating!"

Read Brawl Rules (http://elementscommunity.org/forum/forum-brawl/forum-brawl-5-rules/)

All submissions must be made by making a new topic in your team's private board with the title:
[ROUND X] ROLE(S)

For example "[ROUND 2] Card Design"

Down a glass of Rage Potion!
Write an Elements-themed drinking song!

Onion's Special Task
Recreate any Elements creature in the most imaginative medium you can think of!
We're not looking for quality, but originality! Give the name of creature too if it's not obvious.

Make the boring less boring!
Make a vanilla (no ability) creature into a nonvanilla creature! (one with an ability)
You may use the original art for your card, however you may not modify it.

The Antlions of Alderaan
Combine your team name with something from Star Wars to make a new trio deck!

Parallel World
Discuss what Elements the Game might be like if it were not a card game, but some other kind of game.

IT'S A TRAP!
You're in a locked room. Escape.

EVENT CARD!
Force Choke

Event Card text:
Your team may choke another team, costing that team 5 points. If you do not, your submissions have +1 vote.

As a team, you must decide whether or not to Choke another team. If you do, the specified team loses 5 points! However, if you resist the Dark Side, all your team's submissions from this round receive a free vote during the voting phase.

Bonus Task 1 (Round 1&2): Make the Winner's Icon
Tradition is kept; tradition is held.

Every member in the winning Team of Brawl will receive a snazzy Forum Icon that sits underneath their profile picture on every post they make! Your task is to make this icon. Submissions must be 32x32 and of the PNG format (no JPG, GIF, SVG, APNG, M3U8, SPVCHAIN or any other format!)

Note: The icon that wins this task may not be the one actually used for the reward. This will be at the Brawlmasters' discretion.

All teams who submit will receive 5 points. Winner will receive 5 points!

Deadline: Round #2 deadline.

SUPER BONUS TASK (Round 1-6): Team Manga!
Create an Elements-themed comic book by co-operating with your fellow Brawlers!

Super Bonus Tasks are an additional type of bonus task. There will be only one this Brawl, and it starts and ends with the event.

It is supposed to be a co-operative task between every Role and teammate. Your task is to produce an Elements-themed manga, comic book or graphic novel.

The Boss can coordinate and help out, the Forum Expert can supply their expertise to help the team, the Writer can produce an interesting plot with captivating dialogue, the Artist can generate stunning graphics to carry the story forward. If you're going for a Yu-Gi-Oh! style comic, the Deckbuilder could make decks for the character and the Card Designer could make a card to be featured in it... but what you produce and how you distribute your workload is up to you!

All teams who submit their Super Bonus Task will receive 10 points. Winner will receive 15 points!

Remember, the tasks will get harder and more time-consuming as Brawl proceeds... so when you choose to make a start on this is up to you.

Deadline: Round #6 deadline.

Notes:
* Every submission in general must remain PG-13, non-Writer submissions have a max limit of 1000 words (except if noted otherwise) and every submission must absolutely not exceed the length of a single private message (65535 characters).

Questions:

Artist Task: Are Permanents allowed too? Or does Onion specifically want creatures?

CD Task: Are Ash Eater and Photon allowed to be used? They upgrade into non vanilla cards yet are vanilla when unupgraded.

DB Task: Are we allowed to incorporate prepositions/small grammar words? Like, would it be an invalid submission if we (for example) named it "Gaia's Pride on the Force" (again, example so it doesn't have to make sense :P)? Also, are we allowed to switch our words around (Force Pride of Gaia's)? Third question: are we allowed to use multiple words from Star Wars? Would using "Gaia's Pride Darth Vader" be invalid because "Darth Vader" is not one word?

It says pretty clearly "elements creature" in the art task.

In the DB task something is not the same thing as word.

Notice to all players:

Get cracking on the Bonus Task before the week is up! It's what you'll actually be winning, so it's kinda important.

Cheers!

I wonder if we can...uhm...recycle certain earlier Brawl submissions for this Artist task ;D

MoL has retained copyrights to the piece in question.  Under the re-invented brand of Gaia's Pride the item is being unveiled as a retro item for the task.

If there was ever a submission that deserved to win TWO round of brawl, it was that dragon lol...

But, no, I object :P

About the artist's task, do e have to only remake the creature's art or the whole card?

I intended just the art, but go ahead and make the whole card if you feel like it.

Fairly important announcement!

Round 2, and Round 1's voting phase, have been reduced by 22 hours. They will end at midnight (gmt) on saturday. Please plan accordingly.
This is so that I have time to sort out the voting without my favourite Brawlmaster.

Thank you!

Are you implying you don't love yourself

Personally I'd rather delay the vote counting instead of losing a day on Round 2, since most of my time to work on this will be on saturday and sunday. Of course, I don't know how your schedule looks like, so it might be difficult for you to do it later.

what this guy said. Vote counts can be in the middle of the week for all I care. Also, having mon-fri for brainstorming and the weekend to make the task is much more optimal.

Basically vote counting and posting the next voting thread would take a few hours, which I only have time for on the weekend. We could have asynchronous rounds and voting phases, but I'm unsure how that would work.

Compiling the voting thread is a much less arduous task. I could do that on Monday / Tuesday evening, leaving the weekend free for submissions. Thoughts?

Couldn't the next voting thread be shorter, rather than this round being shorter?

I have nothing against ending the voting of Round 1 earlier, if that makes it easier for you. But please leave the whole weekend open for working on Round 2.
(Assuming that was what you meant in your post?)

Okay, new timeline.

Rounds will start and end at 22:00PM on Mondays, GMT. This gives you the weekend to submit your tasks and Monday to review them. The time for submitting Challenges ends exactly three days before then.

Voting Phases will start on Mondays with the start of the next round and end at 00:00AM on Sundays, GMT. This gives you Tuesday to Saturday to vote, but also means that nonBrawlers will have nothing to do on Sunday and Monday except pore over the spreadsheets and twiddle their thumbs because obviously Brawl supersedes all other obligations and activities planned.

Because I said it in chat and not everyone knows (not very important tbh):

[11:54:33] ‹CleanOnion› Round 2 Writer Task : In order to secure my BM vote, I'm looking for a specific plot point. Hint hint. No I won't tell you what it is

Cannot confirm if I'm telling the truth or not

Yes, voting during week and task submissions over the weekend is better; voting takes 20 minutes, while some submissions, such as writer or art, take more than 20 minutes a day.
