All teams worked very hard on the Round 1-2 Bonus task. The prize for winning it was the honor of having your design be the award icon. Gravy Train designed a lovely icon, they won. They won the privilege of having their icon be the winner's icon.

Sort of ruins the integrity of the task / reward to throw it out the door.

Just my 2  , but I loved the idea of the award icon organically coming out of an actual brawl task.

100% concur on this.  I was stating as much in the chat when Vange was trying to convince me why the winner icon was going to be that wheat-head-trophy-4-thing that wasn't even a submission in the R1/2 bonus task...

The true award for Bonus Task for Rounds 1&2 are the extra 5 points. The extra award of having the winning icon handed to winners is more 'honor-based' (sic) than Brawl-mechanics-related.

Moreover, I am pretty sure people wanted to use a slightly modified version of Gravy's icon for 12 Lives award icon (can't recall where I've read that though). Now, they can do that freely.

The fact that I can not send it in R1 was because the icon was strange and bad and then the andretimpa did  a icon more basic and fast.

"It is a well-kept tradition to have Brawlers creating Their Own icon award! Size must be 32 x 32 pixels." Red Stars did their own icon award.
so if I do a basic icon in R1, Then I can't do better even if the organizers approve? and you feel aggrieved and I 'm a destroyer of integrated. you blame me just because I did a better icon for my team?

I understand your interpretation of bonus 1 task (even my teammates had that interpretation) but only was the task for points otherwise Nae and Arthan not would grant.

Frankly this complaints of icons is not anything like people who are concerned with event integrity, but other types of feelings that taking an unpleasant and awkward situation at the cost of nothing.(ie no one will profiting from it)

I'm really disappointed with their attitudes, just already rather not receive any icon, just to make some people happy.

Reusing your own art to make new art isn't exactly the turnabout of the century.

The issue's less about "X person should get [icon]!", and more about the fact Brawlmasters said one thing but did another. An event should try to follow it's rules on both the player and organizer side, otherwise people might as well just do whatever they want.

For your information I also worked hard on this icon or you think it was easy? How hard/easy it was to make this 'new' icon is not the issue.

I understand your interpretation of bonus 1 task (even my teammates had that interpretation) but only was the task for points otherwise Nae and Arthan not would grant.  If the task was ALWAYS intended 'just for fun' and the winning team was going to make their own icon/finish their own icon at the end then it should be stated that way.  I know that my vote might have changed on that task if I was considering it for "what looks cool" rather than "what do I think is the best icon for the winning team".

However no be so original as well.  That icon andre made wasn't used for WC 2012 though, so why would that make it off limits for this task?

Frankly this complaints of icons is not anything like people who are concerned with event integrity, but other types of feelings that taking an unpleasant and awkward situation at the cost of nothing.(ie no one will profiting from it) Here I disagree strongly - it IS about the integrity of the event (as Z has stated while I was typing this response).  The organizers created the R1/2 bonus task with it being the winner's icon, this much is clear in the task wording.  Then the event concludes and they are swayed otherwise by the winning team.  It is not itself any "wrong doing" but for the organizers to sway on one thing it leaves room for uncertainty in other places... (I do not actually think this has happened here but rather that this is going on leaves room one to wonder)

Certainly no icon would be a travesty.  I'd rather the winning team view this discussion and consider what not using the task winning icon means for the event integrity...

Um, this is not mentioned anywhere publicly that I recall - so a private agreement was reached between BM's and a team in the event to do this?  0.o

Yes, Brawlers making their own icon in the bonus task submissions is the tradition, I think.  I'm quite curious about a Brawl team sending a private request that they could finish-design their own award if they won.

...and now NOT direct just at Vange, but in general:

Is there an explanation for why such a request/discussion wouldn't be publicly posted in the task/round topic for all to discuss at the time of that task?  There is no inherent advantage gained or lost by making that public.

Also, why the BM's would privately agree to that with just one team is quite strange to me.  If that is the decision then so be it - make it public when asked and/or agreed.  Right?
