Brawl#4 - Member Appreciation Thread

I'm sorry to my team that I couldn't be as active as in last Brawl - RL has been a little rougher than usual on me lately.

All of my team was great to work with, even if I had to rush a couple of my submissions this time around.  Special praise in particular to andretimpa who showed a ton of leadership and helped basically every task on the team, and eljoemo who continually turns out quality card idea after card idea.

I'd also like to apologize to my team for my lack of activity beyond the first couple of rounds. Things at university this year started off nice and slow, and I had plenty of time to work on my Brawl tasks, but as the assignments kept piling up, I eventually reached a point where I didn't have any spare time at all beyond my studies, work and social life. I'd have liked to be able to put in more effort, but as you all know, RL > Brawl. Thanks for filling in for my tasks as best as possible, hopefully by the time the next Brawl comes around, I'll be better able to judge how much time I can commit to it.

Thanks to the Brawlmasters for arranging the event, and to all participants for being good sports.

Spoiler for Artist: Treldon:

The Jade Dragon in Round 6 is superb.  You were widely available and very active, thanks for that.  The art ability was easily sufficient and you used it well.

Spoiler for Card Designer: Annele:

You lived up to what I expected from a curator of cards serving as a Brawl Card Designer.  Ideas, cards, and effort were super throughout and a fun personality in team chat and discussions.

Spoiler for Deckbuilder: rob77dp (me):

I'm a bit partial to myself.  I had a few deck submissions that flopped in voting but I stand by them.  I was as active as possible and did what I could on the tasks when I could.  Sadly, the last several hours of each round landed on a weekly unavailable timeframe for me - this was not good of me.  Bad rob.

C'mon kirby let's get curve-y!    A bit of an activity lapse early-mid event but it was fore-warned and the team could plan around.  A+ for the heads up and your effort on tasks, kirby.

'lo Sko.  Your darker view of things is a welcome aspect on many tasks and know that being on the same team as you was a good time and I enjoyed.

A skilled writer that put in effective time on completing his tasks and provided some helpful input elsewhere too.  Thanks joey!

Team Overall:
I enjoyed this iteration of the event more than as a Boss last Brawl.  However, that is not a slight to my Brawl 3 teammates so much as a big shout out to my teammates this time.

EVERY team member was active (or with minimal absence that the team was alerted to prior to being gone for a bit) throughout the event and never shied away from helping or filling in wherever they could.  I thoroughly enjoyed the whole thing and because of this experience I am much much more likely to join Brawl 5.

Meaning of Life may be sketchy at time, but the meaning of Brawl was fulfilled by all of you creating a fun time for me.  THANKS!

The activity level of my team was much better than in Brawl 3, we only had one guy that never showed up (that we subbed) and only one that dropped midway.

The team may not have seen him a lot on pad, but I was constantly talking with him about the important points (wagers/challenges, ideas for the tasks) and relaying (as well as translating) his suggestions to the pad. He had a rather hands off approach to his tasks, only giving a general idea and letting us flesh it out. It was a great time helping a friend as a second in command

I recommended this guy during the auction and he lived to his reputation. Great card ideas and always ready to cover any holes that we might had in a round. He was also always in chat to give feedback if prompted. 10/10 would bid again.

He made his tasks in the first 2 rounds and his TFO, then he disappeared and showed up later. He said he had lost interest in the event but stayed to vote at least. Overall I'd say it wasn't that bad for how much he costed

My second suggestion to Vang. He focused mainly on his tasks, but boy, were they good . His feedback on the other tasks was also useful.

It's funny that we ended up in the same team for the third time in a row. Me and Vang were debating if we should pick him or jonathan, when Vang made the bid on a whim 
I really liked Ops's submissions. I really didn't liked the stress of not hearing from him for most of the rounds . In the end we only had to cover for him in one round (#3 iirc) and "Flight" might be my best submission ever.
Don't worry Ops, they say 4th time is a charm

We got him as a sub for greenzone, he turned into an unnoficial sub for propheon. Had a lot of feedback for our card ideas and some pretty cool deck ideas. If you think that we technically got him for only 1 point, that was a hell of a bargain.

Really good artist, unfortunately, RL kept him away from Brawl for the last rounds

This RL thing seems to be very deadly. Good effort from when they were around though.

Somewhat inactive, but he did most of his tasks and TFO. I really liked the NM+Spark one

An excellent writer, I really enjoyed reading what you wrote. Not only that, you were really efficient in writing them quickly.

Nelly (CD):
I really liked your card ideas and mechanics, and can definitely see why you’re a card curator~

rob (DB):
Not only did I get to know you better as a member of the forum, but I also appreciate your advice in many of our submissions.

Sko (OT):
Thanks for giving me a hand in the first few rounds, and your ideas were very helpful to me, as well as being humorous in some cases.

All of you guys:
I really enjoyed working with all of you, thanks for making this an enjoyable, and not stressful event~! (Well, tbh, it was a little bit of both, but at least it was fun.) I hope you guys enjoyed it as much as I did!

I'm not going to make a player by player review, because really what i have to say stands for all of them.

This team shows that the whole is a lot more than the sum of it's parts. What I loved most form this team was that I always felt like we were all together, we always stood together, we worked as a team.
Thanks for making this a really enjoyable experience for me.

I'm going to hold off on anything further until voting ends, but I'm incredibly proud of my team. They all proved to be very valuable and I wouldn't change anything I did in the auction. I'm really happy with the way this Brawl has gone.

dawn to dusk - Wasn't trying to lord around, took his share of the work. But next time feel free to do a bit of kicking around 

Treldon - Can't recall seeing the guy around...
Clarification: Frankly I am surprised at how well the tasks were received. And I believe (and hope) that I could make up for the art handicap with helping in the others' tasks.

Annele - I was expecting Nelly to have good ideas and put effort into making the cards and I was not disappointed.

rob77dp - Didn't know much (anything) of rob earlier. Found him to be thorough and to have lots of useful input on everyone's work.

kirbylover314 - The time he had to be away for RL issues he made up with enthusiasm and brainstorming.

Skotadi Phobos - You don't talk about the Prince of Darkness...  A bit of cynicism is always useful in group projects. And not being the resident cynic is a welcome change. Thanks

ji412jo - Has a bit of an unusual (at least for me) approach on things, and a streak of drama. But what's a writer without drama?! 

As a team: I enjoyed this 6 weeks together. 10/10 would work with again

Loved the whole team, and I wish I knew each and every one of you better.

But especially, andretimpa, who has shown more leadership, commitment, and helpfulness than I ever did in 2(.2) Brawls as Boss combined.
He is the leader I would want on any team, any where, any how.
