Spoiler for BOSS:
Spoiler for Meaning of Life:
Lazy Cook: Hello traveller, I'm in need of help if you are willing. There is to be a great feast tonight and I have nothing to offer. Would you be so kind as to help me create a masterful dish to serve?

New Quest: Cooking Up Some Trouble; Rewards: 250 XP; 100 electrum coins; 1 Stew of Elements

Lazy Cook: For starters, we'll need to light the ovens, get a Rain of Fire and light them. If you don't have one, a Fire Bolt will do, just make sure you have enough fire quanta.

-15 Fire Quanta

Lazy Cook: Next we need to get some water, cast a Dry Spell or three around some Abyss Crawlers; it'll get us the water and they'll taste wonderful dried up in the stew. You will find them along the shores, by the ocean, west of the town of Romanov.

You have gained: Water (3/3)

Lazy Cook: Excellent! Next we'll need some fresh Pegasus meat - take this Owl's Eye and go hunting in the Fields of Dorsem.

You have gained: Pegasus meat (2/2) +30 XP

Lazy Cook: Magnificent catch! Oh dear, looks like someone decided to take apart my ovens. Hmm...We'll have to improvise... I know! Go to the famous geysers of Lugad, and see if you can find a Steam Machine. The intense heat it gives off is enough to cook anything!

You have gained: Steam Machine (preheated) (1/1) +70 XP

Lazy Cook: Now that the meat is cooking, don't forget to take it out after three turns of your Golden Hourglass. Meanwhile, to spice things up a bit, go find a group of Fire Spirits, hiding within the ash covered slopes of Teyacapan. The dust on their wings should provide the kick we're looking for! Just make sure to catch them fast before they become troublesome...

You have gained: Fire Spirit dust (5/5) +25 XP

Lazy Cook: Next, we'll need some leaves off of a few Leaf Dragons to satisfy the health conscious people at the feast. This should be simple; I doubt there will be any Jade Dragons guarding them in the heart of the forest of Tirac'Tar.

You have gained: Leaf Dragon leaves (3/3) +75 XP -15 HP

Lazy Cook: Those are some nasty claw marks you've got there - guess I was wrong about the Jade Dragons. Here, take this salve and apply generously on your wounds.

You have gained: Liquid Shadow.

You have contracted vampirism!

Lazy Cook: Oh, sorry! I mixed up the vials in this rush. Don't worry, it will go away in a bit, I think... Anyway, we only need one final special ingredient: a Chaos Power to give it that one-of-a-kind taste everyone will love - probably - it's different every time. You can find it in the dungeons under the Tower of Razien.

You have gained: Chaos Power (1/1) +50 XP

Lazy Cook: You can tell me about the Purple Nymph trying to kill you for stealing her spells later; it's almost time for the feast! Unfortunately you aren't invited, but here, take some stew for your troubles!

You have gained: 250 XP; 100 electrum coins; 1 Stew of Elements (Effect: heals all adverse effects, +2 HP regeneration/second for 60 seconds)

Spoiler for Frostbite Borealis:
Cockatrice Marsala

Ingredients:
1 cockatrice, trimmed
1/2 cup flour
1/4 cup parsley
1 tbsp black pepper
Other herbs and spices to taste
1/4 cup olive oil
3 tbsp butter
3/4 cup meat of choice (prosciutto or Physalia are recommend)
1/4 cup mushrooms
3/4 cup sweet wine
1/2 cup artificial Nymph Tears (i.e. salt, water, and cockatrice stock)

-makes 3-5 servings

Materials:
Plastic wrap
Bowl, for mixing
Frying pans

Directions:
1) Cut the cockatrice into chunks, about the size of hamburger patties, then place some plastic wrap over them and pound them with a Gavel. They should be about a quarter inch thick or less.
2) In a medium bowl, combine the flour, parsley, pepper, and any other herbs or spices you like for flavor, then toss the flattened meat into the mixture, covering them well and shaking off the excess.
3) Channel your inner Antagon and turn your stovetop up to high-ish heat, then pour the oil and butter into a frying pan. Once it’s fairly hot, but not boiling, load the floured cockatrice into it.
4) Cook the chicken, flipping occasionally, until both sides are golden brown. At this point, pour in the wine, and lower the heat to medium, then start cooking the additional meats and mushrooms on low heat in a second pan.
5) Wait for the wine to reduce to about half its original volume, then add the Tears and transfer the other meats and mushrooms to this pan.
6) Continue cooking until everything is thoroughly cooked and the wine is completely absorbed. Remove from heat, top with parsley or other desired garnishes, and serve.

Spoiler for Ragnarök:
Spicy Squid Stew

Ingredients:
1 Arctic Squid
2 Purifies
5 Fire Balls
1 Shard of Readiness
2 Blessings
3 Nymph Tears
A few drops of Forest Spirit blood
2 Adrenaline
3 Liquid Shadow

Slice the squid in smaller pieces and put them in a pan. Heat them up with a two Fire balls to make it less... arctic. While it thaws, begin to prepare the rest of the stew.
Put the Adrenaline and the Liquid Shadow (a great mix of sweet and sour, respectively) in a large pot and stir. Put a Fire Ball under it and let it boil as you mix the Purifies, Blessings and the Nymph Tears in a small bowl.
Pour the mix into the pot together with the now thawed squid. Use the fourth Fire Ball to let it simmer as you finish it up by adding a Shard of Readiness to speed up the process (otherwise it has to simmer for hours...).
Add some drops of Forest Spirit blood depending on your taste (the stuff is pretty strong) and finally drop the last Fire Ball into the stew to make it hot and ready!
Serve with rice!

Spoiler for Red Stars:
Abomination Stew

Ingredients
  • 3 1/2 lbs of abomination shoulder, cut into 2 inch pieces
  • 1 leaf dragon, with the leafs separeted and the main body chopped
  • 1 large onion, peeled and chopped
  • 1 teaspoon of Basilisk Blood
  • 1/2 cup of dry luciferin
  • 2 Tbsp of extra-virgin epinephrine
  • 1 large ripe tomato, peeled, seeded, and chopped
  • Salt
  • 1 cup of cockatrice stock
  • 1 10-ounce can of immolated red bell peppers, cut into 1/2 inch strips
  • 1 cup of dry, full-bodied rage potion
  • 2 teaspoons of sweet paprika
  • Freshly incinerated phoenix ashes

Method
  • Combine the abomination, half of the chopped leaf dragon, the basilisk blood, and lucipherin in a medium bowl. Let marinate for 2 to 3 hours. Drain the meat, discard  the marinade, and pat dry with paper towels. Mince the remaining chopped leaf dragon with a pulverizer and set aside.
  • Heat the epinephrine in a large, heavy-bottomed pan with lid, setting the heat to the brimstone eater level. Working in batches, brown the meat on all sides, about 10 minutes per batch. Salt the meat as it browns.
  • Remove the meat from the pan and add the onions to the pan. Cook, scraping browned bits stuck to the bottom of the pot with a wooden spoon, until the onions are soft, about 5 minutes. Add the minced leaf dragon and cook another minute.
  • Return the meat to the pan with the onions. Stir in the paprika, immolated peppers, tomatoes, the dragon's leafs, and the rage potion. Bring to a boil, reduce heat to an ash eater level, and simmer uncovered for 15 minutes, allowing the liquids to reduce a bit. Then add the cockatrice stock, bring to a boil, reduce heat even more to photon level and simmer, covered, stirring  occasionally, until the meat is very tender, 2 to 2 1/2 hours. Spice it up with the fresh phoenix ashes and salt to taste.

Yields 4 to 6 portions

I sure do hope this syntax is correct and whatnot.

Spoiler for Ragnarök:
Spoiler for (image) Ragnarök:
Ragnarök: In norse mythology, it's basically a future event that will kill the gods.
As an agnostic, gods are a blank paper for me, as I neither believe in their existance nor that they don't exist. For people who do believe in gods however, they can be their best friends. Taking that into account, there is only one logic way to paint gods for me: Toilet paper. You'll see the true value of it once it's gone.

One question that I was looking into is, how do gods die? What happens to a totally OP being which can't die, when it dies. Does it get eaten? Transformed? Or does the world end because of a logic failure which will flush everything down the toilet?
I illustrated this by burrowing Dali's Time painting. It shows the uncertainty of the future, which in the end, will inevitably be reached.

Spoiler for CARD DESIGNER:
Spoiler for Meaning of Life:
ZBlader | ZMatchmaker

For the unupped - 'target field' means you get a target on each player's HP.
'Merging' (or shipping) two creatures is like casting chimera on just those creatures - an abomination is formed with the combined stats of both. There is an equal chance for either creature's ability to belong to the new creature (eg. if you merge a fallen elf and a devourer there's a 50/50 chance of whether it will get mutate or burrow; if one of the creatures is vanilla then it will definitely get the other's ability). Merged creatures lose their passive and gain the 'mutant' passive.
There is a 50% chance to just merge; 30% chance to merge and buff; and 20% chance to backfire. Buff means basically a Chaos Power is played on the merged creature (gains extra random stats). Backfire means both Z and the target (or a random creature for unupped) lose 3hp.

ZBlader is a massive shipper in chat. Shipping basically means wanting two people to be in a relationSHIP together. Sometimes it is a good thing; other times it is annoying and has bad results. If you don't understand, just pop in for like 5 minutes with him. :P
ZBlader himself has a rather random personality, and always brings life into chat while he is there. (:

NOTES:
Willng3, an avid life fan, left the community a long time ago, only to return for the eighth war and come in third place, which is a pretty outstanding feat.

This card allows you to duplicate your creatures... Eventually. Your opponent can kill them off to stop them duplicating, or you can wait then burst every creature you have into play and then a copy.

Simple uses include a monolife rush with frogs and cockatrices, but don't underestimate its uses with nymphs, adrenastaves, or, if you're really evil, high hitting fire cards with the upped - Ruby dragon OTK could be a thing now.

This card doesn't stack - using it twice simply resets the timer to 2 turns.

Aether Queen | Aether Queen
Fractal anything is viable

I feel like I don't need to point out that this card is dedicated to our lovely Higurashi. The ability of this card is one use only, much like a lycanthrope, except the buff depends on how many cards you play from the hand during your turn. This can be used (and used effectively) in decks that simply play a whole bunch of creatures, but the most blatant combo is obviously with Fractal. The Aether Queen can be used alongside Fractal in any Fractal deck you like, be it RolHope, Fractix, FrogTal, GuardTal, PsionTal or whatever else you feel like. After all, Fractal anything is viable...

The opponent's spells are played first, and they are not affected by the cost<6 rule (if he has Antimatter,it is played, but you can't use Parallel Universe). If the creature dies before the spell is complete, the rest of the spells are still used and discarded. Creature spells include spells such as Pandemonium and Dessication, as well as targeting spells. Spells like Miracle and Silence are not affected. I based it on Chapuz because he makes lots of decks where many spells are played at the same time.

Spoiler for The Inevitable:

Description
Pretty straight forward idea; Leaf dragon is able to use its ability multiple times and hence works great with "The Inevitable" (First win condition). Angelic Furball is a great stall card; opponent will resist from playing any damage as it will damage him (second win condition). A Jade dragon to consume the excess life quanta and in case opponent has a lot of pc. Of course, Jade Dragon works well with mitosis as a third alternative win condition.

Spoiler for Ragnarök:
Jormungard

This deck focuses on stalling the opponent efficiently using Shards of Sacrifice, Shards of Divinity and Sundials (aka standard PDials stuff) and then OTKing the opponent with just six cards.

The Cards from previous Brawls:
Spoiler for Hidden:
Pandemic Worm (Brawl 2, Round 1, The Crusaderps, Card idea: Team Light)

Asclepius (Brawl 2, Round 2, The Crusaderps, Card idea: Team Light)

Scroll (Brawl 3, Round 6, Team Divine Light, Card idea: SpikeSpiegel)

Deck Strategy:

This is an OTK deck, and one of the most efficient ones around. It has 16 turn's worth of stalling, so use it wisely! Try to maximize your opponent's damage on the board before using Shard of Sacrifice. vs. the AI this can easily be done with a sundial, but in PvP you have to use some bluffing.

The fun thing about this deck is that it imitates PDials, but has an extremely different win condition. So your opponent will try to limit his damage in PvP, feeling safe as he has no poison counters even halfway into the game, and WHAM! He's dead. You have to have at least 1 Pandemic Worm, 1 Asclepius and a total of 4 Aflatoxins or Scrolls to win. It also needs 26-32 :death and 2 :light quanta, so keep note of your quanta pool as well.

This deck is a fun OTK deck, but it just might become the next PDials. And who can't love such an awesome deck? ;)

Spoiler for Red Stars:
Nexus' Defenders

Spoiler for Individual Cards:
Each Card is a link to its respective topic, where you can find more notes about them.

Spoiler for Silly Lore:
Lights! Camera! Action!

Film and theatre directors find themselves in every extreme setting to catch the right scene, the right lighting, and the right angles. Plague-ridden lands sectioned off by bone walls are no exception, but the viewer rejoices with the protagonist, the sacred defender, whose silouette against the bright heavens ensures the inevitable defeat of his opponent. No movement is unnoticed, no light too bright, no action too small.

The backbone of the deck is a stall that relies on SoSac and miracle to withstand damage and bonewalls to avoid it. Because of this, Lux Nexus, together with plague will create serious problems for a deck that doesn't have enough PC as it can easily lose all of its creatures leading to an inevitable deckout. Alternativelly, a deck without any kind of CC has no other option but to rush before an Angelic Furball is drawn. Decks with a balanced control can still lose to damage from the Defender + Pity combo (as Defenders are resistant against CC and the Furballs will attract most of it anyways). Finally, even if damage and healing doesn't work, the inevitable brings a third win condition, that although easily disrupted gives an instant win if the game goes for long enough (take that Immortal).
Scrolls provide flexibility allowing the player to copy SoD, SoSac or miracles, depending on what is needed and SoD makes miracles, SoSac and the healing from Defenders more effective.

Spoiler for Gravy Train Co.:
This deck is based around a card created in Brawl #2 Round 1 by our own Captain Scibra.

NOTES: An action is anything and everything: drawing a card, playing a card, a card being activated or attacking (i.e. cards like Scorpions do two actions when attacking), or a creature dying.  Any targeting of this card results in immediate destruction, including non-destructive Protect Artifact and Steal, and other potential effects found in the CI&A.

The Boneyards are The Inevitables.

The main strategy is to flood both sides of the field with Malignant Cells and stall with Shard of Sacrifice while the Cells remove turns from The Inevitable. A fully infected field removes 23 turns every turn. If The Inevitable is destroyed, the backup strategy is to beat down with Malignant Cells.

It'd be useful to add bolt calculator to tools page. Long term all tools should be written in an iframe aware manner. http://etg.dek.im/vanilla/boltcalc.htm would function perfectly well in an iframe
One could add a checkbox to the add-a-tool feature, which in this mock up I have not replicated, for whether the target of the link should be the iframe
Another enhancement would be to include scrolling the page up when selecting an iframe tool

Spoiler for Ragnarök:
First of all, we don't need to remove anything, each and every one of those links are useful, but on the other hand, there are some other links that should be added:
1 ) A link to tutorials section. How many times were you in the situation where someone asked you "how do you play this game?" "How can I upgrade cards?" and many other questions. Now you can just link this page to them and they'll find many other links.
2 ) A link to deck help section. After the newbies learned how to play the game, they'll ask you how to improve their decks. You help them yourself, but it is much easier to link them to this section. This way, they can get even more help.
3 ) A link to community recommended decks. Weren't you asked a lot of times "What's the best deck?"? The answer is always "There is no best deck, each of them has strenghts and weaknesses", but you can always show them the decks that some of the more experienced community members use.
4 ) A link to Strategy thread (the False God counters). Everyone needs this. I thinks this is the most asked question: "How can I beat False God X", so this will make it a lot simplier.
5 ) A link to forum funds status. We are in a crisis at the moment, but many people don't even know that. Some people may click that out of curiosity and donate out of generosity, so that would help our beloved forum live longer.
6 ) A link to the "Ask a simple question, get a simple answer" thread. How many times were you asked lots of questions at the same time? Now you can link this page and they will ask anything they want to know.
7 ) A link to the Tournaments section and Events and Competitions section. After they learned how to play this game, build playable decks and have a decent collection, they would wish to play in tournaments and events, if they knew about them, that is.
8 ) A link to the "I'm awesome, I have 12 of every card" thread. After they will win tournaments, events and competitions, they will probably ask "What's the final goal of this game?".Well, here it is.
These are the ones essential and useful to each Elements the Game player.

Spoiler for Red Stars:
Elements Video Portal

Online games in today's internet are built on video content, but a forum isn't really the ideal format for digesting video content.  Thus, we will be introducing the new elementscommunity video portal!

Taking inspiration for its design from YouTube and other popular video sharing sites, videos of Elements content will be arranged in a gridlike structure.  Each video will have a preview image, and can be clicked on to pull up the video itself and a comments section in which players can discuss the video.

While there may be many videos, finding the one you need may be difficult.  A tagging system can help solve the problem.  Tag videos with the usernames involved, as well as tags like "expert advice", "tutorial", "theorycrafting", "competitive match", and so on!  Users can search for a tag to more easily find the type of videos they want to see.

Videos also take up a lot of server space.  This is why we wouldn't be directly hosting the videos, but instead mirroring them from sites like Youtube, Twitch, Justintv, and more - users would post the links to their EtG-related videos on other sites to feature them in our video portal.  Sites such as Youtube often make it difficult to find EtG content, as both the words Elements and Game are common enough to produce many false results.  By having a user-populated video database of EtG content, we can produce a much better experience for all!

Spoiler for OFF-TOPICKER:
Spoiler for Meaning of Life:
At the top is Zanzarino, the forum's deity figure. To the masses, he is the head of the forum. If you're in the know then you know that he's probably not really real, but his myth is so helpful his existence must be faked.

The true heads of the forum are the admins. They're very secretive and mysterious; no one really knows where they come from or how you gain the title, but they're always there. The admins pull the strings behind the appearances and signs of Zanzarino. Using "directives" from him they are subtly gaining more and more power with full public support. Already they have their fingers in every aspect of the forums...and in it's citizens' lives. The admins are the only ones who know the truth about Zanz... and they aren't too big on sharing information.

As time went on the Admins became swamped with tasks and realized they needed a group of people to help them. This group of people became The Council, tasked with handling the day to day affairs of the forums and carrying out the admin's public orders. These orders are often few and far between, so the council spends the rest of its time throwing lavish parties and coming up with new staff positions to do their work for them.

One of the first decisions the council made was to pawn off their task of monitoring the forums to be sure the masses stay devout to Zanz. They devised a two part group, each with very different covers, but closely connected jobs behind the scenes. Firstly, the Bug Hunter weeds out the 'bugs'. They find reports of problems with Zanz's work and makes notes of those who complain. Only those who doubt the great and glorious Zanz would complain about his work. The Moderators then find the people on the Bug Hunter's list and "re-educate" those who doubt Zanz and his perfect works.

The masses of the forums are a suspicious lot, so to keep them distracted, the admins have a large group of people working tirelessly to create and host events. They are known as League Organizers, Tournament Organizers, and Competition Organizers. These events distract the would-be naysayers and doubters of the forums, to lighten the burned on the Mods.

The masses of elements are highly creative. This creativity has lead them to try their hand at improving and adding to Zanz's work, which is utter blasphemy and unforgivable. Seeing a great number of people doing this, the admins charged the council with cataloging them for "re-education" by the mods. Of course the council wasn't about to let that get in the way of their... more important work, so they created Card Curators and Idea Gurus to manage that for them.

The Admins are very protective of the power they've gotten from a large group of supporters and realized they needed a way to prevent other forums from taking their members. Knowing the council weren't to be trusted with more than , the admins cut out the middle man and thus the War masters and Brawl masters were introduced. Their soul purpose was the covert, and brutal sabotage of other forums by what ever means necessary.

Every good political system needs propaganda, especially a theocracy with a deity who may or may not be real. This is where the Newsletter writers come in. They are fed stories by the admins about the great works of Zanz, and publish them in the increasingly popular monthly newsletter. "Zanz seen helping an angel get its wings" Or "Zanz stops False God uprising.

After unhelpful rumors about Zanz started spreading on other social media, the admins realized they needed to extend their control even further. Thus, the Social Network Managers were introduced. Serving practically the same role as the Bug Hunter and Card Curators, but in a different place, the Social Network Managers stalk social media to find those who have gone back on their beliefs.

Spoiler for Frostbite Borealis:
COUNCIL OF 12

WHAT IS THE COUNCIL OF 12?
The council of 12 is an oligarchic system wherein 12 council members each represent an element. In terms of making huge, game-changing decisions, the council of 12 gathers and makes a vote on it. The even number ensures that there will be no odd-one who will get to decide in the case of ties. Although, there was a 13th council member,  Zanzarino, who disappeared…

HOW MUCH DOES THE COUNCIL OF 12 HAVE CONTROL OVER THE EtG UNIVERSE?
They have control over ALL of it, but of course it is divided up nicely according to the element. Each element has its own dimension, i.e the Light dimension, where an element has a prevailing dominance over others. There are also dimensions which no element has dominance, like the arenas, and False God domains. With the council of 12, all of these dimensions are connected, as each function is required to make sure their own places are healthy.

ELEMENTAL FUNCTIONS
:light Light: The one who supplies manpower for authoritarian forces, i.e. the police.
:darkness Dark: Darkness represents the mercenaries and assassins. Compared to light’s huge presence to the Elementalists, darkness concerns matters that are preferred to be private.
:life Life: Life makes sure the populace is healthy. They also take care of the statistics.
:death Death: For obvious reasons, they take care of burials and what not. Also, they are the recyclers.
:entropy Entropy: Entropy works on experimentation. They are the trailblazers for making new innovative systems in the EtG universe, although at the same rate, they do make some dubious experiments.
:aether Aether: Aether are the power suppliers. They make sure that energy flows evenly throughout each sector.
:gravity Gravity: Gravity makes sure the industries are up and running. They are responsible for creating the reactors that will supply EtG’s main sectors, like the arenas.
:time Time: They are the schedulers, for example, holidays, memorandums, getting all taxes in time. They make sure everything’s planned. Oftentimes, time is the facilitator of civil events. Also, they are the archivers of everything that happened, and often manage the educational systems.
:fire Fire: They are the suppliers of war. Also, they are the ones who facilitate war events.
:water Water: They are the ones keeping the environment in check. As a result, they take care of the food, and making sure that the natural resources are clean.
:earth Earth: Earth handles all property matters. Compared to Gravity’s grand power reactors and plants, Earth handles the furnishing, decorations and what not. Thus, they are considered the backbone of material supplying to the local citizens.
:air Air: Air takes care of the transportation systems. The inter-dimensional and local transportation systems are in their control. As a result, they facilitate trade & commerce in the EtG universe.

HOW DOES ONE GET IN THE COUNCIL OF 12?
Only Elementalists renowned for helping out the community are nominated to be elected as one of the council of 12. Current council of 12 members are able to be re-elected only twice consecutively as to give chance for other Elementalists to take their place. As elections are held annually, a council member may be in his/her position for 2 years, and be unable to be re-elected for one year.
Examples of contributions for which one may be nominated as a council member are:
•   Being a master of a respective element in the war games.
•   Facilitating a civil event.
•   Advocating environmentalist messages/ campaigns.
•   Excellence in material making.
•   Being a pioneer/discoverer of something significant, like making the power reactors more efficient.
•   Much more!

ELECTORAL PROCESS
1.   2 months before the nominations, the council of 12 gathers and makes a list of nominations.
2.   1 month before the nominations, invitations will be sent towards the nominees. The nominees have the right to decline.
3.   Once all is settled, the nominees will be announced throughout each controlled dimension. The tasks are given to the nominees to allow them to prepare themselves.
4.   The trials begin after the week the nominees are announced. Some trials may be shown live, others have already been completed and the results are shown to the populace.
5.   The week after, the council will show the results and and announce the new council members. A grand ceremony will happen to congratulate the new council members.

ELEMENTAL TRIALS
Each council trial is unique, according to element, and varies each year.

:light Light: Each nominee will lead a group against the other nominees.
:darkness Dark: Nominees will be in charge of a mock-up assassin operation.
:life Life: A “heal league” where nominees outdo each other on healing patients.
 :death Death: Energy recycling competition.
:entropy Entropy: Showcasing of projects, or live experiments.
 :aether Aether: Energy harnessing competition.
:gravity Gravity: Race to finish a power reactor. The most efficient one wins.
:time Time: Academic competitions or scholarly debates.
:fire Fire: Nominees will fight a gauntlet of elders, or make the best weapon.
:water Water: In a week, be able to showcase a garden/environment.
:earth Earth: Create the best furniture/material.
:air Air: Nominees will compete each other in a race.

WHAT ARE THE OTHER AUTHORITIES OTHER THAN THE COUNCIL OF 12?

The council of 12 are considered the “head” of their respective tasks, there are also other position that Elementalists can be in, such as. Certain jobs have elemental affinity, if an Elementalist does his/her job correctly and well, he is bestowed a title and an honorary position as part of the oligarchic government.
•   [Element] Arch – Second in place of their respective Elemental council
•   Local Governor – They are in charge of certain places in their respective dimension.
•   Timekeeper – Facilitator of local events/archivist/teacher.
•   Fireforger – Weaponsmith.
•   Entropists – Scientists.
•   Darkessaries – Agent/Spy/Mercenary.
•   Earthchants – Traders/Merchants.
•   Death Haulers – Facilitators of burial rites/recyclers.
•   Lifegivers – Doctor/Healer.
•   Aetherian – Energy Harnesser.
•   Gravimetrons – Industry worker.
•   Lucidian – policemen/other disciplinary forces.
•   Aqueist – Environmentalist/Caretaker of environments/Harvester.
•   Airtaker - Transporter.

Spoiler for Ragnarök:
Elements is a world full of creatures and magic. Some magic is more potent than others - Compare the fractal spell to a vulture. The shards are notorious for being powerful, certainly more so than, say... Flooding. And nova is in a class of its own.

It stands to reason that, with all of these magics, and some being vastly stronger than others, that one who masters the more potent magics would come into power - who are you, with your silly antlions, to oppose a master of the firestall, grabbow and SoW reflect?

In short, the strongest rule; who can challenge the rule of the strongest? This can be interpreted in a few ways, but is the basis of my thesis. The simplest way of interpreting this idea is despotism or oligarchy, where one or multiple people rule, and I believe it to be the most likely way of elements happening.

This tying of politics to elemental prowess means we have to understand how magic itself works. Does being morally strong give you stronger magic? Given vampires, nightmares and lycanthropes, this is unlikely, making negative leadership traits, such as greed, quite plausible.
How many spells can people have at any given time? In the game, you have a deck, and a card base. We could say that you can know all the spells, but have to "Prepare" spells - or put them in your deck, to use them. You can't change your preparations mid-fight.

This makes a potential ruler quite feeble. Hard-counters, or countering an opponent so well they cannot possibly beat you, are going to be common, given just how devastating they are in the game. Mindgating is the process of figuring out what deck your opponent will use. Analysing the kills of your target will be common, too - and if you hate your opponent, you will try to use any means necessary to this problem.

This is important because killing an elementalist becomes simpler than it sounds. As a result, rulers will tend to switch places over and over and over - I doubt a leader, unless exceedingly competent and benevolent, will last more than 10 years. It will be extremely difficult to hold a position, given the powers of hard-counters and the mere mortality they will have at the highest level of play.

To conclude, given the warlike nature of most of the elements, as well the duels that will sprout from said nature, I believe that the innate greed of all beings will permeate the world, causing a political system that changes constantly and repeatedly to the wishes of the strongest people. An erratic, constantly evolving despotism, not too far from anarchy.

Spoiler for Red Stars:
The Elemental Political System and its Historical Context

For thousands of years, the realm of elements was ruled by the council of Elders, 13 elementals chosen among their peers for their wisdom in elections held at the Galileo Mountains, the Hawking Sands, Carnot Flats, Vulcan Plates, Hades Barrens, Nox Fields, Erbus Flats, Aeolus Nimbus, Newton Fields, Neptune Bay, Helios Pastures, Gaia Forest and at the Oracle Plains. Elders held their positions either for life, until they decide to retire or are expelled by their fellow elders. To help in their government, they delegated the law enforcement in the different parts of the realm to a few chosen elementals, called the Half-Bloods, that acted as local leaders who answered directly to the council.

However, the coming of the False Gods, strange powerful elementals that intend to control everything and everyone in the realm with an iron fist, has upset this balance. Since the elders had no concrete way to deal with this threat themselves, the council was obligated to turn to the Half-Bloods, allowing them to build personal armies in order to defend the regions under their influence. The result was the formation of several militias speciallized in fighting against the False Gods and whose members were known as grinders by the other elementals.

With this new power balance, in a few decades the Elders ended up becoming simple figureheads, with the Half-Bloods pressuring the council to expel any inconvenient members and maintaining the elections only to give the people the ilusion that they were still choosing their governants. In this scenario, the Half-Bloods held the real power and they chose their own succesors (normally hereditarially), or ended up usurped by grinders that escaped their control. With no pressure to keep the peace coming from the council anymore, the Half-Bloods began to invade each others domains now and then, with the only thing preventing everything from plunging into chaos being the need to remain minimally united against the False Gods.

Spoiler for Gravy Train Co.:
"Political systems fit communities, but communities do not fit political systems. This is an inherent fact when you see attempted revolutions, or when you see a politic actively trying to change a community.

So, do the members of the Elements community have a political system that fits it? Well, in a way, we already follow that political system, a system of almost Bismarckian/post-Bismarckian right-wing politics.

Zanz, our fearless leader, is our executive figurehead: unyielding, autonomous, cognizant of our pleas yet distant, immaterial even.
Our High Council consists of those who represent modes of thought akin to our own. Like pendulums swinging with particular frequencies, the elements are like beacons for those like-minded enough to band together and form clusters: in a way, parties. So those willing to face the trials of the elements become the party representatives, much like those who are willing to campaign and face certain judgment from the community still try to run for positions of political importance.

This High Council represents the needs and pleas of our community, closer to the voices of the public, much like parliamentary representatives. Yet, while they are chosen by the community, and funnel our wills and desires to our stern yet magnanimous ruler, he is still number one. He is his own will, and his word is law and order.

Much like the post WWI society Germany crafted to quell the chaotic miasma of a post-war anarchy, our elements community leaders have shaped a site where those who seek order, help, and sanctuary may find it, away from the confusion of solitary play. And so this symbiotic relationship between game dev and community: between executive and his parliament, defines the political system best suited for our community."

An extended rendition of this awesome comic: http://explosm.net/comics/372/. Enjoy!

‘Incoming call: Zanzarino’

The Oracle couldn’t help but sigh. “Hello Boss!” He said into the phone, momentarily forgiving 24 month’s worth of due wages. “It’s been a while!”

“Yeah…” Zanz replied reluctantly. “Listen, I need you to whip out those wish granting skills once again.”

“But I thought we had discontinued that millionth user offer in fear of trolls…”

“This is something else entirely.” Zanz coughed and paused for a while. “You see, Ma is pressing me to spend some time with little Salt, so I thought I’d indulge him.”

The Oracle was not pleased to be dealing with more than one irregular Italian in a day, but it was part of the job. His harem wasn’t gonna feed itself (though it sometimes did just that). So The Oracle started saying into the mouthpiece, “Sure thing, Boss! Now, about my dues…”

The line had been cut off.

Saltarino, the 6’5” ‘Little’ Arino brother, was checking on the Oracle for the first time in his life. His big brother’s game was pretty cool, but he was 27 minutes in and could see no end to the grind in sight. He wondered if his score of 579 was enough for the high score table.

Just as the wheel of Fortune spinned around the fat guy on the Oracle screen, he began to speak. “Greetings, O Mighty Saltarino!” He exclaimed to Saltarino’s bewilderment.

“My brother must be God!” Saltarino managed to stammer after a minute in shock.

“Close enough,” The Oracle replied, “But I’m wavering from my task. Ermmm, yeah, Thou Shall Be Granted Three Wishes!”

“Wow! He’s gotta be the best brother ever!” Saltarino’s eyes were tearing up. “So, my first wish is to get a trillion dollars and a hot wife…”

“Umm, no.” The Oracle shrugged, “I can’t really help you outside this game.”

“ Fair enough.” Saltarino shook his head, “If I can’t get a hot wife in real life, I want a full collection of Nymphs!”

“Seriously?” The Oracle raised his eyebrows, “You do realize that you can get Nymphs without any work after a few years of visiting me? And you’ll waste your big wish on that? Persevere, young one, and Nymphs shall arrive. “

Saltarino wrinkled his eyebrows. “Alright, could I have a full collection of Marks then?”

The Oracle gave an understanding smile. “I’m afraid it would result in some serious inflation in the economy, and that would cost me my job.”

“Ugghh! Can I at least have some Foil Chimeras then.”

“Wait a minute then.” The Oracle redirected him to the Donations page. With one look at the price for a foil chimera code, he gave a scream of exasperation.

“Just give me Trainer Edition, for heaven’s sake! Just give me something!”

The Oracle shrugged, and whipped some of his magic out. This had turned out be surprisingly fun. Maybe Italians weren’t so bad when they weren’t your boss.

Saltarino was already making all the awesome decks strewn across the forums, a goofy grin spreading across his face. This game was unbelievable. He had no problem beating False Gods with these cards.

After a while, The Oracle finally ventured to continue the conversation. “What is thy sec-“

“LEAVE ME ALONE!” Shouted Saltarino, raising a hand in protest. He gave a momentary glance at the Oracle’s widening eyes, and smirked. “Persevere, young one, and wishes shall arrive. “

And they were stuck together forever.

Comments time! Yeah I'll prolly lose interest in doing this as Brawl goes on :/ So enjoy it while it lasts!

Boss:

Life - This format is just extremely epic. I honestly have to say, it brings tears to my eyes. Extremely well-though concept, and the implementation is perfect.

The rest are all meh :/ Abomination and Cocks aren't really to my taste (yes, I have an overly active imagination :P). The remaining two are both pretty ok, but I chose Ragnarok for my vote simply because they prepared everything in a more EtG manner.

Artist:

Life - Just a few lines isn't good enough to qualify as art imo. I'd have liked it a bit more vivid.
Frostbite - Seems nice and abstract, though I get more of a space vibe than the theme of Frostbite Borealis
Ragnarok - I love how the colors flow and just the general representation of everything.
Red Stars - It looks great, but I feel like the monotony of the colors goes against both the theme of a star and the abstract feel.

Went with Frostbite since it was better than the others.

CD:

Life - While the card is a great concept, I feel that it's implementation is lacking. It feels too jokey to be a real card, sadly. Props for making me laugh though.
Frostbite - Great concept and implementation, though I don't think it should be placed in darkness. It also seems slightly imbalanced.
Ragnarok - Nice concept, and amazing implementation. It has a fun effect which I think life needs, so great job.
Red Stars - I love the concept, and the implementation is awesome. This should be in the game goddammit.
Gravy - ok concept, but implementation is bad :/

DB:

All the decks with The Inevitable, were well, inevitable. It seems like a terribly OP card, and so I dislike the three decks using it.

FE:

Life - Once this round is over, I'm going to ask council/admins to implement this. Enough said.
Frostbite - Seems like it's too minor an addition :/
Ragnarok - Several solid additions, though it will probably clog the page up a bit
Red Stars - It seems to be pitching a single page, not the community index. Also, we don't really have that many videos :/

OT:

Life - Hilarious and well-written. I have a few nitpicks and additions, but overall, well done!
Frostbite - Extremely detailed. A bit too much so, because I felt like the creativity was spread a bit thin here :/
Ragnarok - Seems realistic, but still has a creative touch. I feel like this is the closest to the truth.
Red Stars - I'd expected the elders, Half Bloods and FGs to pop up in more of these, but the implementation of their hierarchy here is bad for me. I feel like this deviate a bit too much from the game too.
Gravy - While it's extremely well-written, it's a tad too verbose and doesn't have much substance.

Writer:

Life - While the graphics are good, the script is slightly dry. Overall, it feels 'meh'
Frostbite - Well written, and the script is funny without overdoing it. I like it!
Ragnarok - *cough*bias*cough*. But seriously, I feel like the depth offered in the rewrite was good. It was funny and well-written, and I sure do know how to love myself :P
Gravy - It seems to have taken a perpendicular twist halfway through. Which is bad :/
Red Stars - Just the first slide of dialogue? Painfuly accurate, but not really too funny.

DB:
All the decks with The Inevitable, were well, inevitable. It seems like a terribly OP card, and so I dislike the three decks using it.

Our one is not completely based around inevitable, as it has two other win conditions, and is the only one that consumes quanta from 3 different elements, which in my opinion makes it quite original within the rules.
First player to become master of 3 different elements.

Justa reminder that teams will need to post their votes/explanations in their secret sections for votes to be counted. Posting here is fine, but votes here will only be counted for non-brawlers.

Hopefully ARTH can do that for us here soon, I have to go out.

I can confirm that empty slots mean I didn't get a submission. ARTH can double check his inbox as well.

Comments on Art:

Life: Minimalistic and still fitting the theme.
Frost: The color choices and the symmetry chosen is reminiscent of ice. Well done.
Rag: Surrealism and abstract art are not the same thing. Other than that, the drawing looks good.

I tried to make my submission look like something that was really painted, adding a bit of texture. The drawing is a yellow star surrounded with flames.

Boss:
I chose based on
1) Looking like a recipe (sorry Meaning of Life)
2) Clarity in the steps (Description of the heat levels was a major factor here)

Artist:
[Disclaimer: I have literally almost no aesthetic sense.]
I liked Ragnarok's art the best, but that is because I prefer Surrealism over Abstract Art.
Of the 3 abstract pieces I randomly decided(rolled a die)

Card Design comments spoiler'ed to condense space.
Spoiler for Card Design:
The cards all matched the veterans well enough not to sway my opinion so I will be judging them based on mechanics alone(including theme resulting from mechanics).

We have
ZBlader a fusing version of the mutating Fallen Elf/Fallen Druid
Overly Attached Naesala a retribution based creature protection creature
Willng3 a double my field presence spell
Aether Queen a fractal fodder creature
Chapuz's Frenzy a forced casting card

I'm going to be harsh on ZBlader since fusion has been repeated and rejected regularly over the years. The common criticisms being "little novelty" and "inherently unable to be balanced". While I can nitpick those criticisms I cannot rebuke them.

OAN's Jealousy ability adds a layer of complexity to the control game. Players with creature based control will have to choose between "not controlling", "controlling and suffering the penalty", or "controlling OAN first and then their real target". While this effect is usually cataloged under Light, I can easily see it under Darkness on mechanical themes alone. While opening it to anything targeted was a good idea, I do not think limiting it to only creature targeting was a good idea. Penalty based protection works best when the opponent is forced to play the game (since penalty based protection gives the opponent options in exchange for this restriction of their prior choices). Since a lot of targeting control is from the Player and not from their creatures, OAN fails to force the opponent into the game.

Willng3 is another play on a Life version of Fractal. Three things immediately pop to mind as concerns about its balance.
1) "This card doesn't stack - using it twice simply resets the timer to 2 turns." Arbitrary limits are noticeable "patches" that are almost always avoidable and can be hidden in a mechanic in the card text(see Fractal) the rest of the time. Also this particular limit seems to not patch any problem. Delaying the 2nd doubling by 2 turns gives the opponent more time to draw CC but also gives more time to play creatures. An extra 2 turns will have little net change on average.
2) The cost to play 8 creatures in a Fractal deck >> The cost to copy 4 creatures in a Willng3 deck. The cost is about double.
3) It switches from Atk to Hp being the limiting factor. This can seem like an easy change to do on the fly but changes the value of the card quite a bit. It is unlikely for that to be a balanced upgrade without needing to increase the cost.

Aether Queen requires you to play 4+ creatures in 1 turn to reach parity with vanilla creatures. While the author claims it can be played without Fractal, that is a claim that is suspect considering the number of creatures needed to be played. Otherwise it is a forced combo card dependent on Fractal.

Chapuz's Frenzy is a bit confusing. (PS: "creature spells" sounds more like "creature cards" than "cards that target creatures") However I think I understand it as "Force your opponent to randomly cast for free every card they have that can target the targeted creature. Then randomly cast for free every card you have with a cost less than 6 that can target the targeted creature." Even after the paraphrasing it is still confusing although the confusion is not from lack of clarity but rather from judging the effectiveness of the card in all its possible uses (even ones I don't expect to be effective since the card's side effects might make those effective). Congrats on making a Kael card.

Ok. After some thought I can think of 2 primary uses.
1) The obvious use of discarding your opponent's CC and Buff cards with the side effect of you benefiting from the effects of those cards. Since you get double impact you only need to discard cards of a value of half your 8 :darkness|7 :darkness + 1card. This use would avoid having any such cards in your hand. Either by playing those first or by not having them in the deck.

2) The less obvious use is to play your CC and Buff cards for free (provided they cost less than 6). This immediately made me think of using  :darkness to play a bunch of buffs xor AoE CC(Firestorm) from various elements without the correct type of quanta. The CC variant of this seems inefficient (2 Firestorms for 7 :darkness +3 cards? upped).

Of these two the discard option seems like the more efficient and seems to be priced reasonably (although low confidence on that estimate due to my confusion).

Deckbuilders
[Disclaimer: I am below average in this field]
Life: I want to give you points for the Annele + Mitosis extra synergy (Annele lowers the activation cost of the Mitosis ability). However that combo was already shown by the original Card Design/Deck Build combo task Annele was selected from. Elitism in a mono creature spam deck is not novel either. So it is a very sound and thematic deck but no novelty points to you. In Hindsight after looking at your opposition, Thank you for your creativity!

Frost: Seems like optimizing for too many goals. However good trick to use Rustler on The Inevitable to reduce the 200 Turns to about 9 Turns. However I don't think The Inevitable is an enjoyable Alt Win condition to be facing considering it requires PC to even interact with the win con in a meaningful way.

Ragnarök I feel using an OTK Alt Win con that has no opponent interaction is negative play experience. In Hindsight after looking at your opposition, at least you didn't pick the same Alt Win con as 3 other teams. That's good enough for me to give you a distant 2nd vote.

Red Stars: Wow, 3 decks so far centered around cards from the same round of the same Brawl. See my comment above about why I don't like The Inevitable as an Alt Win con.

Gravy Train Co: A 4th deck based on bad Alt Win cons from the same round of the same Brawl? The 3rd using the same Alt Win Con?

@Captain Scibra
Sorry for being harsh on your old card. That was a restrictive round of Brawl and is not representative of your normal skill.

Off Topic:
Ragnarök seemed to aim for the serious angle by discussing the political realities of a might makes right dictatorship when there is no significant power gap.
Everyone else chose some form of council, although I did like the tone of the Gravy Train Co. entry.

Sorry team. Wasn't on my computer at all yesterday, I figured all the submissions would be sent in by one person. In hindsight it was silly of me not to confirm it before I went to bed, but I'm so busy with uni during the week that it slipped my mind.

This is my artwork for Gravy Train Co. if anyone's interested:

I can confirm this has been to Gravy Train Co.'s secret section long enough and it is not a last-min-addition. I am going to include it to the voting phase, but I have to discuss with Nae about the 1/2 points every late submission gets.

Btw guys, I though the fact you have to give some legit explanation for your voting choices would prevent you from voting your own team just for giving an advantage to your own team. I was terribly wrong, but I can't think of any other way to solve this. It looks like we have to live with it... :(
