Brawl #3 - Round 3 Voting

Looks like my Divine Light votes have stirred up a lot of negative opinions. OK, I'll try to balance it out this round by not voting for them at all -- sorry guys in DL team.

Oh, thanks, it's nice to see that our efforts and our works have been recognized...

After all, we just spent a big part of our free time in last days to read almost all handbooks of AD&D 2nd edition trying to make something worthy...but seriously, who cares?


Said that, next Brawl really needs a different voting system, this way is non-sense. Like allowing brawlers to vote.

With all the complaining I keep hearing I'm thinking the best option would be to just remove the voting system and I'll just pick the winners each round. That sound better?

If you don't have a decent suggestion for a new voting system, then please stop complaining. We've heard people complain about voting a thousand times in every Brawl. We have tried to make the best voting system possible. If you actually have a suggestion then by all means, read everything I've said in the Brawl suggestions and feedback thread and then say it.

Now I'm SORRY zsozso didn't vote for your team this time, but considering last round the votes were given to you practically for free I think he did the right thing this round.

I got a lot of crappy attitude from people this round. I'm really disappointed in everyone for it. For the one millionth time this event is supposed to be fun. If it's not fun, I'm liable to suggest there be no more Brawls. It'd make all the PvP junkies get off my back and I wouldn't have to waste effort on an event that noone wants to join and everyone complains about.

Now seriously, the voting system has been discussed A LOT, not only by Nae and me but with other people too, and it was serious enough to make secret sections for each team to avoid strategical voting (a whole team voting for the one that's losing so they have more chances of passing the others). We decided:
1- Secret sections, so we (Brawlmasters) are witness of strategical voting and can discourage it.
2- 2 votes per Brawler and at least 1 vote must go for another team, so they don't vote just for their team. We didn't decide to make them vote only for other teams because sometimes they may deserve it.
3- 2 votes per non-Brawler, so everyone's votes count the same.

As far as i'm concerned Zso_Zso can vote whatever he wants. But if this is a refined form of passive-aggresion, this is hardly the place for it. There are two BMs hard at work making this happen, for free. The brawl suggestions/feedback thread is always there for a more mature approach.

 Actually, I trust yours and Chapuz's objectiveness much more than anyone else. I do not think the voting system needs to change anymore, but in case you and Chap were the only voters I would had no problem at all.

 I feel really sad about this and I apologise because I also complained about Deck Builder's task this round. Please, in spite of all the complaining, do not let Forum Brawl die...
 But most importantly, as you say, this event is mostly for having fun!

I agree it seems that Brawler's vote are biased. However, this system has showed that most of people who vote for submissions are actually Brawlers (everyone can see that just by counting the non-Brawlers who submit their votes during the voting phase; they're not even as many as the Brawlers of this Brawl). Moreover, imho, the votes of non-Brawlers are almost as biased as the ones of the Brawlers (no, I do not mean Zso_Zso; I think I have better examples to backup this one ).

@Spike compared to last Brawl this voting system is great. Imagine whole teams voting to make their main competitor lose a wager, last minute changes of votes that don't make any sense. Teams that only vote for themselves and you can see that this is much better.

@Zso if you had provided a reasoning for your votes like you did now and hadn't posted the dont-give-a-fuckometer I'm sure no one would have said anything.

You know what really sux about the voting system? - That there aren't enough folks using it! Would be nice to have like 30 non brawlers around to discuss and vote.
A suggestion of how to change this is, to give everyone who votes 200 electrum and if they added a reasoning, give them another 300! This secion would be swarmed with votes xD
Sadly, I don't see this ever happening.

@Nae: even if some of the tasks are bad and according to that folks start complaining, there is no reason to throw the towel. No one (except maybe me *cough*) is perfect and so no one should expect that all the tasks are always uber awesome and totally fun to do. I for one am grateful for the work the brawlmasters do.
One problem is, that when folks are happy with you, they tend to forget to mention it. But when they're slightly unhappy, they scream and shout as if the world's about to end.

Might be an idea to also add a vote to each task, how happy everyone is with the task itself and how happy one is with the brawlmasters.

Honestly all 4 card designers outdid themselves on this task. Your effort is to be recognized.

I know it was said in jest, but from personal experience (I used to do unofficial CIA competitions) having only expert votes is a quick path to stagnation. That said let's hear a round of praise for the continued effort & objectiveness of these brawlmasters!

Sidenote: You brawlmasters do a good job thinking of new tasks. With each brawl the tasks get better and better. Please don't take the crappy attitude too hard. Sometimes your hard work is easier to notice in hindsight rather than in the moment.

In my previous post, no complains intended; i just wanted to underline the non-sense voting system of this nice event, and the non-sense votes expressed by Zso-Zso in last two rounds.

In round 2 he votes us just because our name remind to  (bringing harm to other teams), in round 3 didn't vote for us just because the mess he did in the former round (bringing harm to us).

Now, if this crappy things can happen, then the voting system isn't so...balanced? Fair? Use the word you want.

Let's make an example: what doth hinder me to send some PM's to other players asking to be voted?

What doth hinder me to vote someone in a team just because is more friendly to me than other players?

Or again, what doth hinder me to vote...randomly?

The game is game and i know it very well, and this event (that i like very much) is for fun; but as i already wrote, all brawlers spend a part of their time in brawl tasks, and this voting system has so many "leaks" that each round each work submitted may not receive the just judgment.

I'll wrote my suggestion for next brawl voting system in the dedicated thread.

Again, no complains/flame/trolling intended. Maybe a little bit of frustration at seeing our (brawlers) efforts/works often judged beyond their actual value.

Any problems right now are in that case with the voters, not the system in my opinion. Unless you can create a mind-reading application that knows the intent of everyone who votes, of course you cannot stop unfair votes completely.
