Booster Draft 1 - Battles - Semifinals
Round has ended.
Round 3 is over and semifinals have started. Team C is looking very strong at this point.

We have two battles this round:
1. kirchj33 vs. willing3
2. Napalm Grenade vs. majofa

Both battles will be fought, even though the first one is between team members.

If Napalm Grenade wins, she will first face the winner of kirchj33 vs. willing3 in the finals, instantly followed by the loser of kirchj33 vs. willing3. In other words, Napalm Grenade has to beat all three remaining members of team C in order to secure win for team G (and an icon to herself).

As a reminder, here are deckbuilding and battle rules:

DECKBUILDING
After card drafting, teams will have up to 24 different cards depending on how many Relics they aquired. Teams can use any number of these cards in their decks, while other teams cannot use those cards at all. Marks, Pillars and Pendulums (from any element) are free to use without any limitations. For each Relic your team has, all your team members can use one upgraded card during duels.

BATTLES
- Each round of battles lasts for 4 days.
- If the fight doesn't happen, we flip a coin, unless one player is clearly more active in trying to find a suitable time
- Battles are best-of-5. Player who first wins 3 duels, wins the battle
- You are allowed to switch decks and mark between rounds.

AFTER BATTLES
- Both winner and loser must provide their decklist in the battle result section (http://elementscommunity.org/forum/index.php/board,417.0.html). A short matchup review / play-by-play is recommended but not necessary.
- If you lose a battle, you are eliminated from the event, but are encouraged to help your team to win (remember, winning team gets added to the hall-of-fame)
- When all 4 players have lost, the whole team is eliminated from the event.

We all know willng3 is quickly becoming the king of RNG bad luck.  He basically lost what should have been cointoss matches the first two.  Then I change to my grab & ghost "counter" for the 3rd and he gets totally jobbed there as well.  I call it a "counter" because it won about 50% of the time vs. a human opponent, so since both decks are available, I just chose to run what was being countered....

Game 1 was back and forth and came down to a coin toss.  Game 2 he won the cointoss, but had 1 quanta sources on the draw somehow.  This enabled me to easily outrush him.

He plays a dragon on the same turn I finally draw a ghost (turn 4?).  I've got 3 chaos seeds in hand by now, and decide to play them so I don't lose the early rush.  I PU his dragon on the first, shockwave on 2nd, and bolt on the 3rd.  He plays his lone CS next turn and it only does 3 damage to my ghost.  Rage promptly ensues.

gg's will.  This may mean nothing more than getting first crack at Nappers so stay en guard!

I knew I was going to lose this match up before even going in...my luck with RNG is simply unreal.

No use in trying to devise a counter really since this deck is too fast for counters to work that well.  I didn't even bother with Eternity since I figured with my luck that I'd draw all 3 of them in my starting hand while he'd have about 5 creatures out by turn 3...but this duel was actually very close.  I believe he had 4 or 7 HP (my memory sucks) remaining when he was killed.  Looking back if I hadn't decided to keep my Graboids unevolved because of Eternity I might have been able to squeeze in that extra damage, but we'll never know now.

Game 2:
Same deck as above.
Here comes the RNG I know so well.  14 quanta producers and I drew one in my starting hand...really?  Lost the damage race.  Wasn't surprised by this at all to be honest.

I basically gave up any hope of winning after seeing that last match unfold, so I thought I'd just go out with something kooky.  With 18 quanta producers there was no way I'd draw 1 Pillar again...hopefully.  And I didn't, but something happened I wasn't expecting:  he switched decks too.  I saw the mark and just laughed maniacally out loud because I knew that I was screwed.  I played one Dragon, he used 3 Chaos Seeds on it...one of which PU'd it, while the others killed it.  I had one Chaos Seed which successfully managed to do 3 damage to his GotP.  Whoopie!  I quit shortly after that; there wasn't even a glimmer of hope for me to win this game.

I figure I made it this far because up until now duels have been more based on strategy and deck advantage than just lucky deck choices/match ups.  That all went out the window here and I'm not at all surprised by the outcome here regardless of how even our chances were.  Good luck on your next match, kirch.
