Dunno if this is he same for anyone else, but I haven't earned more than1 exp for out damaging a monster during a fight. Even when the monster has been the same level as me. Has it anything to do with me being at base attack?

I've gotten 3 exp from outdamaging a monster, so it might be the rng?

It is.  It goes from 1~5, but I think there's another factor that limits you from getting 5 if the difference is too much.

Base attack shouldn't matter. a same level monster should give you between 1-5. Works normally for me, but keep us apprised. If it continues, then when Alan gets a chance he might go back and double check the xp formulas.

My original intention was to include a screenshot of every battle regardless of whether I got exp (for consistency), but I forgot to screenshot the Gargoyle battle I had in between the Fire Spirit and Shrieker, because I got sidetracked by leveling up. The -40 gold is from buying a Heal and failing a Tournament, the -14 hp is from Gargoyle and failing a Tournament, and the 6 exp is from out damaging Gargoyle 3 times and killing it.

Hmm getting 1xp for the shrieker shouldn't be happening. Something's messing up with the xp formula it seems.

Wouldn't the problem come from only beating out the Shrieker by one damage?

No, damage isn't supposed to play a part beyond the initial win/lose determination.
