Battle - The War of Three Houses

This Task is currently on hold.

To win this task, you must join one of the three Houses, and help grow it into the strongest House. The task will last 5 weeks, and you can join in at any time by simply posting your interest in one of the three House topics. You MUST be level 0 at the time you sign up. You cannot sign up for more than one House. You cannot switch houses after you sign up in one. The first week has begun, and the next week will start when the timer below expires:



You make your House more powerful by acquiring Victory Points (VP). There are multiple ways to win VP for your House, summarized below:

Conquest:
Each House with at least 7 members begins the week with 4 cities under their control. Each city is worth 1 VP. You may capture an enemy city by killing EVERY member of the opposing house (post a screenshot of the graveyard as proof). A House may only capture 1 city from each opposing house per week. A house with less than 7 members may not capture enemy cities.

Wealth:
Once per week, three members of a house may screenshot their gold and have one of the members post the screenshots, along with a total of the gold they own together. At the end of the week, whichever house posted the largest amount of gold in this way receives 1VP.

Heroics:
Once per week, three members of a house may screenshot their number of monster kills and have one of the members post the screenshots, stating the total monsters they've killed. At the end of the week, whichever house posted the largest number of monster kills in this way receives 1VP.

Assassination:
Once per week, three members of a house may screenshot their number of player kills and have one of the members post the screenshots, stating the total players they've killed. At the end of the week, whichever house posted the largest number of player kills in this way receives 1VP.


House Specialties:
Each House has a specialty. When totaling up your gold, player kills or monster kills to gain victory points, you gain a 10% bonus when dealing with your House's specialty. For example, House Paragon specializes in monster kills. If 3 players from Paragon post screenshots proving they've slain 200 monsters, it will count as 220 monsters for the purpose of winning the Heroics victory point that week.


Completing the task:
At the end of 5 weeks, the House with the largest number of Victory Points wins. Every member of the house gains a spot in the Hall of Heroes (or an additional spot if they were already in). In addition, each member of the winning house may vote by posting the names of 3 fellow house members who they believe contributed the most to their House's success. You may vote for yourself. The 3 House members with the most votes receive forum icons as a reward!

FAQ:

Q: level 0? So we have to reset to participate?
A: Yes. However if you want to help a house out without resetting that's fine, you just won't officially be a member till you reset and sign up.

Q: Ok, I signed up and I'm level 0. When can I start leveling up?
A: The task has no signup period, it starts as soon as you join. It's best if you wait to start leveling till your name actually appears in the members list of one of the Houses though, because that means I've confirmed that you are level 0. If you sign up and start grinding immediately, I won't be able to be sure you were level 0 at the time you signed up, and you may be required to reset again before joining.

Umm isn't it unfair to begin the event when some houses are teeming with members while say, Rampage, has zero members? I think people will be inclined to fill up the houses with the best specialty, or the most members at the moment as they have a large lead already (Paragon with 4 members. Mammon with 2). I think this War of the Three Houses may become War of One House to fight for the forum icon between themselves.

I think people will be inclined to fill up the houses with the best specialty, or the most members at the moment as they have a large lead already (Paragon with 4 members. Mammon with 2). I think this War of the Three Houses may become War of One House to fight for the forum icon between themselves.

The specialties should be equal in terms of the benefit they provide towards winning the Task. As for everyone grouping in one house, only 3 players actually get a forum icon, so if you join a smaller house with a few dedicated players, you have a much better chance of actually getting the icon if your house wins. Having a large house helps, but a small group of dedicated players can do just as well.

Except we don't even have 3 members yet and it's almost the end of the first week already, bringing us one player's worth of stats short.

Except Paragon only needs one more member before they can capture our cities, and we cannot capture their cities; we will never reach 7 members because it's so clear Paragon is going to win, so no one is going to join Mammon or Rampage.

Except any new players who join will start at level 0; impossible to catch up to furballdn who is at level 11 already. It's pretty discouraging for any new players to join when people like furballdn already has such a huge lead. I'm very dedicated myself, never missed a rollover, started the same day furballdn had, and I'm level 3.

Free forum icons to a pre determined victor is pretty dumb. Now it's only up to Paragon to fight it out between themselves to find 3 members for the icons...

No one is as dedicated here to player slaying than you, newb. Also, if one more person joins paragon, you can earn more VP via city capture.
Speaking of rollovers, it sad that i always have to miss one of them a day; as it falls exactly at the time i sleep.

Actually, the rules say you also cannot have your cities captured until you have 7 players as well.
I agree about the lack of participation making it too easy to get the forum icons though. If we don't get more players involved beyond the 10 or so currently signed up, I may have to cancel the task or reduce the rewards somewhat.

I'll update the Task later today with some new participation rules (each house must have 7 players before any other house recruits over 7, scaling rewards based on total event participation, etc).

Yes, unfortunately we don't have the participation needed to run this task properly. I'm going to put this on hold and lock the topics for now, and I will be asking for ideas for a different Battle task to run in the meantime HERE.
