Why I would make a good War team member
My team will win the war.
Notes
Despite my best efforts at fair play, it seems that all kinds of "alliances," politics, agreements and forum drama have been happening around my application and others' as well.

Believe what you may about me but I am only interested in one thing: a fair fight. That includes not going against the spirit of the event with all kinds of "negotiating" beforehand. Many players and masters are responsible for this.

I apologize to girlsgeneration, Higurashi and Ryan666, who were eligible to bid on me as a loyalist. However I refuse to leave that application open knowing fully well that instead of a fair auction some players would or would not bid on me because of "agreements." I hate to go back on what I said -- which is that those three only could bid on me. However I feel the agreement was breached by many masters including those on the thread when they went against the spirit of the event by making deals behind everyone's back.

I hope that whatever deals I was involved in (I have no idea what they are and do not care) are now considered VOID and that the involved masters will consider ALL DEALS OFF as far as War is concerned.

I will have no part in these forum politics. This is a community event where everyone should have an equal chance to bid on good players, regardless of whether or not they are "new" masters or not. Making these little "deals" only serves to turn the event from an enjoyable community contest to a popularity contest where many people's feelings are going to be hurt. I already know directly of two or three conversations from senior members of the community that are meant to misdirect and hurt newer players. That should never happen in any community, and especially not this one. I strongly considered withdrawing from the event, but I enjoy War and don't want to miss the fun just because some other people decided to act in ways I disapprove of.

To all masters:

If you win me in the auction, I will play for your team with all of my skill and effort. I will organize the rest of the team strategically so that whatever element I am playing for we will approach every round as organized and dangerous as anyone else.

I will not auto-choose a team that makes a 24-card bid. I will simply go to the highest bidder. If I have to select between tying bids I will choose the team I consider to need my help the most.

By all means if your strategy is to let someone else buy me for 30 cards you can expect that you will regret that decision when fighting my team later on.

Good luck to everyone.

The bold summarizes what masters should go for when you're looking to bid on any player, regardless if you plan on doing so or not.

+Karma, Good sir. I do this not because because I am your "ally" or "friend", but because you've managed to stay neutral and defended the newbies.

Apologies if I have offended any of the Masters or vets.

Mm.. it saddens me when I see vets trashing newcomers. I intend to give many of them a chance to join War with me. Another side of the coin with the auction is, however, this: when a player wants to be in a team and a General wants them on that team, wouldn't it make sense to let that happen? War is a game within a game: it's all for fun. If someone wants to join a team they know they'll have fun in, I think they should be allowed to without other Generals making them pay more for them or even take them.

Some enjoy this game of manipulation and think it's a part of War. Yes, it seems it's intended thus. It makes sense not to disallow one to use manipulation in something as ruthless as a conceptual war. Still, I think fun should come before that. I've made a total of one deal thus far, and that's because the two players involved want to be on a specific team and the Generals want them. It's more fun for all parties. I won't make deals for players I intend to buy for their skill, though. That includes Val.

Regardless, it's a good move to go Slave instead. Less drama overall. I don't want any of that.

I recommend reading Valimont's post to see why it is less drama, instead of being unpleasant.

Less drama because there is literally little possibility for any kind of deal arrangement to be made when 12 people are interested in you.  Thanks for the in depth analysis though.

I think it's totally fine for a player who is friends with a master / likes an element, etc to end up on that team. Not to single out players, but just to take an example: Will people be surprised if nilsieboy ends up on team Water? Or if Glitch ends up on team Life?

That doesn't mean it's automatically bad for there to be an understanding between masters.

What IS bad is trying to manipulate the whole event beforehand, like some have. Telling different groups of people different things without being honest one way or another. This event only lasts a couple of months, and then what? Is it worth having deceived each other for one community event, hurt each others' feelings, or had newbies start out with the impression that it's a "dog eat dog" community? Of course not.

I am not upset that some masters made some basic deals about senior players; that will always happen. I am quite unhappy with the extent of dealmaking that spans into trying to get people to make bad decisions on purpose.

Anyway I look forward to the event. The fun thing about being a slave is you never know where you will end up!
