Please note that this deck was used for 'Option I' of Trials #3 against Half-bloods. Amalgamation refers to the 'Chimera' and 'Black Hole' aspects of the deck, which (interestingly enough) are wonderful against the HB's.
What's really surprisingly about this deck vs. the other ones I was trying to work against Half-Bloods is that the limited amount of permanents (aside from shards) meant that the A.I.'s PC cards were fairly useless aside from denying me Time quanta (which I always had a surplus in almost every battle, excluding the 3-5 where I only drew one Tower). More importantly though is the usage of Black Hole and Chimera - for the majority of the game,
quanta is scarce unless you get an early pendulum, but since most half-bloods don't pump out high HP creatures with major attack (dragons) early, you have enough time to set up your basic Pharaoh-rush with Scarabs to slowly consume and control the opponent's battlefield.
Black Hole in itself helps you gain EM's (HB's often have quanta pillars/towers to help you gain that +36 healing), while Chimera assists with getting that final blow in against nasty shields or even absorbing damage for a few turns. These cards may be hard to fish for in a 34-size deck, but you only really need 1 of either to guarantee the win.
Rewind (instead of Eternity) is used as a very inexpensive way to remove one or two potentially harmful creatures in the early rounds when you have little Scarabs out - example: against a Mind Flayer, Otyugh, or Arctic Octopus, having 1 or 2 Rewinds in hand to send them both back simultaneously will work wonders if you can also put down multiple Pharaohs at once.
The major weaknesses from this deck mostly revolve around Lobotomy, massive instant CC (not plague, but more Rain of Fire, Pandemonium, and Flooding), and three shields: Gravity Shield, Diamond Shield, and Thorn Carapace.
