I've seen this deck for a while, but I liked dune scorpions and Eternal Chaos so I never tried it. Today I tried 10 men's version (I like Anubis too) and beat Dark Matter with laughing room. I am now going to make this deck.

Long time player/forum lurker, first time poster.

I've been using this deck lately with a great deal of success, credit to 10 men and Noobie, I just have one question about the deck itself:

Why 4 Eternities and only 2 AW?  I often find myself with an extra Eternity in my hand which leads to me replacing my current weapon slot Eternity in the end game, so that I can make more space in my hand for Gotp on the fractal.  I was hoping some of the more experienced deck builders could explain the theory behind the deck not containing a 3rd AW, as it has been puzzling me.

Thanks in advance.

Half the FG have perm control, so that's in case if one were stolen or destroyed

Aha, I thought it might be something as simple as that, but thought I'd ask just to be sure.

Thanks for the quick reply.

It's really more about two things: drawing one early (very crucial to survival against many), and using it as PC bait against FG's where you wanna focus on HG's and shields.

I've not really had much success in the way of using the extra Eternity to protect the other three, since I tend to get more than one Stolen or Exploded in a game. Hourglasses are definitely a better idea if you want to draw out PC.

About the Eternity vs AW ratio, two more thoughts:
  • When you're in the situation onf having Eternity in your weapon slot, but no more AW to fly it, this means you already have 2 flying Eternities out + another one in the weapon slot. This means you are winning the game. So why would you need another AW? There is no difference between winning the game and winning the game "even more". The 3rd AW would be a dead card. If you have to make space for your fractal, just spam out your Eternity and be happy that you're winning. ;)
  • In general the correct ratio of weapons:AW for almost every deck is not (number of weapons):(number of weapons - 1), but much higher. To illustrate why, let's look at the possible scenarios when playing such a deck. You either draw
    • both: best case, this is how pros do it.
    • none of either: good as well, this just means you're drawing the other cards in your deck which hopefully are good too.
    • too many weapons: mediocre, but still ok as you hand will be clogged a bit but at least you get to use your weapon.
    • too many AWs: terrible, in this case you're doing absolutely nothing.
So you really want to avoid the last situation, to the point where you are willing to give up likelyhood of the first to increase likelyhood of the third and reduce the one of the last.
For a long time I even used to play 5 Eternities, which definitely isn't bad to do, 4 just seemed to work as well.[/list]

You misunderstand. I was talking about using Eternity to protect other perms.

Simply wrong. Against those FG's, you generally need to establish a lock faster, so early Eternity, Phase Shields and SoG's all help.
