I've played quite a lot with this, in fact, the last 100k of score have been 98% acquired with this against Gold. Plat hasn't been very kind to Splat lately so I find this more suited for Gold atm. Maybe I'll try this in plat again later.

to me it still the combo that matters. if you draw the cards too late, whether it is against plat or gold it still lose. i play this against plat more often than gold by the way

This deck is amazing, we all know that. In fact, it's earned me more  :electrum and score than any other deck I've played with. But sometimes... UGH THE RNG!!!! Especially when you would've won for sure (and it was a special spin game) This isn't the first time RNG has gotten the best of me, but certainly the most frustrating :P By about 15 cards I knew I had no chance to win, so I decided to keep playing to see how long it would take to get my Dune Scorpion.

I am not sure if it is just me, but most of the time I play this deck I have one of the following problems.

Not enough quanta
No Novas on the 1 and 2nd turn
Scorps but nothing to sweeten them up
Have Unstoppable and CP but no Scorps
About to use a SoD of can't for fear of using up all available  :gravity or  :entropy

There is one piece of the puzzle missing from this deck in my opinion. I maybe just blowing smoke, but I would most of the time one part of the combo is not showing up.

I don't understand...
If you already have all these shards (about half the deck!)
Then, unless you donated for shards, doesn't it follow that you already have all the upgrades too?
Nothing against the deck, fun grinder and I love dne scorps, but why bother with an unupped one?

No, it's not just you.  This is one of those decks that requires a combo in order to function correctly and as such is prone to the problems you've already listed.  I have days where it seems like this is all I get from this deck but then others where I manage to draw everything I need within my starting turn or the 3rd turn of the duel.  It's definitely frustrating when things don't work right in this deck, but the profit's totally worth it.

Not necessarily.  People sometimes grind Arena with partially upped or fully upped grinders without having access to all the upgrades they can afford to buy.  If they're grinding Bronze Arena then they're not going to see much, if any, increase in electrum at all.  It's all a matter of priority I guess.

I've not played it before but I heard the pillared version u quite often manage to get out a 1st turn scorp. Seems to me that would be so much more advantageous especially when u get 1st turn as often the AI will play at least 3+ cards on their first turn which makes up quite a lot of damage. On the other hand this seems to get much better reviews, how come better than pillared splat then? ;o

One of the biggest problems that I would say the Tower version of SPlat has is actually its quanta generation.  Mono Darkness can wreck the Tower version if it has Devourers/Pests by not only draining your :time needed to play the Scorps and SoDs, but also draining your :gravity which makes the Dune Scorp combo impossible to achieve.  Pillarless SPlat works around this weakness through the use of Nova which can either allow you to spam SoDs to give you more time before needing to play SoSa or it can sometimes prevent your :time, :gravity or :entropy from being drained by having the Devs drain a different source of quanta.  Nova also helps to counter Discord a bit.

The Tower version also has a serious problem with PC, especially SoFo.  Explosions and Steals are definitely annoying when spammed left and right, especially when they stop you from getting more Scorps out.  In Rainbows this is even more problematic because oftentimes the Rainbow will remove your Dune Scorp and Purify themselves while you have no :time generating.  Pillarless SPlat also faces a similar problem, but to a lesser extent.  Also, sometimes it's actually a good idea to clog the AI's hand just in case their deck contains Miracles, Stone Skins, Purify, etc.; by reducing their draws to 1 card per turn you can seriously cripple their chances of drawing those key threat cards.

Nova in and of itself also gives the deck huge benefits because it makes the deck easier to customize.  Shards can be played more quickly, and the player has the option of adding cards such as Reflective Shield, Purify, Chaos Power or Sundial if they so desire.

I have a feeling that I'm forgetting something else that's important...I'll add more comments later if that's the case.

Good points :) I guess just like all versions of decks each have their advantages and disadvantages though.

I run the deck in the OP, except +1 Purify, which puts it at 31 cards. I use this to farm Gold, which seems to be loaded with SoSac, and Mindgate. Just let the AI play a bunch of SoSac (make sure it drops under 40 HP!), then Purify it and laugh at your easy win. The extra card also comes in handy against deckout decks, as that extra 1 card has saved me from decking out numerous times.

It's worth noting that currently, this is extremely effective against Gold. Except for the games where the RNG just hates me, I seem to get a very high win percentage (I don't take stats, and I don't really want to just throw numbers out there, but I win way more than a lose, for sure). In about a week of casual grinding, I've manage to get nearly 30k score (which is a ton for me, I only had 50k or so when I started lol).

Save yourself a bit of time grinding with this: nearly every mono Water is autoquit - they seem to pack at least 30 Purify (alright, maybe like 4-6, after Dexterity). SoP is auto quit if you see it, unless you already a bunch of poison when the AI plays it. Mono Darkness is kind of a toss up, if it's all Vampires, it's probably a loss, otherwise it's a win (it's worth playing it out long enough to judge if you can out poison their healing... if not, quit). Mono Aether based on SoW + Phase Dragons doesn't play enough cards to rack up a big poison counter, so it's usually a loss. Most normal Mono Aethers are easy.

Remember EM is based on your current HP; if you're about to win, and you have both Purify and SoD in your hand, don't hesitate to Purify yourself so that playing a few SoD's won't ruin your EM.
