Skull Shield/Mutation

Playing against AI4, and I've got a Skull Shield out.  The AI plays a card and uses a Mutation on it.  At the end of the AI's turn, the mutated creature is killed by my Skull Shield and turns into a Skeleton.  A 3/3 Skeleton with 1 Freeze ability.

That can't be right.

Skull Shield doesn't actually remove the unit, it only transforms it into a skeleton. So it works the same way a hatching mutant works, the mutant status stays.
