Mutated Creatures with steal only able too steal your own cards

My card was mutated but by thee opponent and i was only able to steal my own card.

Was this intentional or ?

Except there are red rings on the opponent's stuff, indicating you can steal them.

Thats the thing , it wouldnt allow me. 
The turn before he destroyed my pillar it would only let me select that and just reactivated it on my board.
That turn it wouldnt let me select it or anything

So, you tried clicking on your opponents permanents, also Quantum Tower/Empathic Bond?
What did happen then; came an error message?

i can steal my own cards either way, mutated creature or not

If he didn't get an error message,  then it's probably desync.
Up until now, wasn't even sure steal could be an ability.

It just wouldnt let me click and consumed my quanta each time i tried to click

steal as an ability, maybe, maybe not, it depends on what you get from mutation...
