First of all, nice idea, I like it a lot. Lets have the Ice Golem's ability to be "immune to freeze", how's that? Phoenix has no ability except turning into ash and reviving, and it's already pretty powerful. This card is powerful enough as it is, and it makes sense that an ice golem will be immune to freeze since it's already frozen.

"Immune to freeze" is almost completely useless, because it is even more situational than Purify. My original idea was that when the Ice Golem freezes other creatures, it spends the cold energy inside itself; when it uses up all its powers, it will revert back into a Water Golem. To me it makes sense that an Ice Golem is able to freeze other creatures.

I guess you are right, but it's just a bit OP. I also agree that immunity to freeze is almost useless, but it also makes sense and it's better than nothing.

Also, I think this two card should be separate, like SG suggested and have the Ice Golem be a rare.

How is it still OP? It only freezes for two turns, and it damages itself.

CURATOR COMMENT
- Phoenix has rules with the creature changing, particularly, Ash is not the creature that just died, but a new creature, whereas using rebirth evolves the Ash into the phoenix so all the permanent effects carry over. What happens with the Water|Ice Golem if it is poisoned or Aflatoxined?

Water Golem and Ice Golem is the same creature. Therefore, all statuses including poison and aflatoxin carries over.

I really like how Ice Golem changes to Water Golem after death, I don't think that was there when I first saw this card idea. But, I still think this card idea can be better as a pair of cards, not a card that changes between upgraded and unupgraded versions.  :)

Edit: But well, if they were separate cards, then maybe Ice Golem shouldn't be obtained as a stand alone so people wouldn't prefer to use that over Water Golem.  :) That way you wouldn't have to add a secondary effect to Water Golem to get people to use it over Ice Golem (if it were a stand alone).

Find artist name for that second image and this will get moved to Crucible.

After searching, the ice golem image I used was apparently from an MMO called Tibia. The developer of that game was CipSoft, and I cannot find the name of the artist who drew that golem, so I'll cite the developing company as the artist.

Prettied up the main post with the Current table.
Added Notes from the discussion

Questions | Suggestions

Card text suggests that you have to Target this creature with Freeze. Does Congeal or Permafrost Shield Trigger the effect? Is so then I suggest the card text says "Water Golem evolves into Ice Golem if it becomes Frozen"
In addition to this, is the creature still frozen for the period when it evolves?

Ice Golem needs the text changed so that the penalty uses the pipe. ie -0|-1.
Also since a killing effect does not actually remove the Ice Golem but change it into Water Golem I Suggest that you change the text on Ice Golem so that the death clause is "Ice Golem becomes Water Golem instead, if it would be Destroyed"

You are correct. I'll change the text to "when frozen" when I have time.

No. Water Golem becomes an UNFROZEN Ice Golem when frozen. Just like Mummy not being sent back to your deck when it becomes Pharaoh.

I don't see a need to do so, because all cards in game use "+N/+N" instead of "+N|+N", like Blessing.

That would be incorrect, because when Ice Golem dies, it still triggers on-death effects such as Boneyard, BEFORE it turns back into Water Golem.

This differs from an earlier post where you said the Ice Golem and Water Golem was the same creature and it just evolved taking poison or Aflatoxin with it.

With regards to the Ice Golem being Killed, Is the Ice Golem actually destroyed and a new Water Golem created?
