Well, this is both badass and balanced. I like the idea of being able to buff your weapons when they are permanents, and Death really does need to be able to sacrifice its own creatures for other payouts.

Probably will keep the boost when flown.  Any new Soulsteels will override the first
I believe the weapon slot is unbuffable at the moment... whatever card is in the slot is what it is, and has no health.  As for the overriding thing, that's a bit troublesome.  Yes, it makes it balanced, but weapons don't have an attack|health indicator unless flown, so you wouldn't be able to SEE the attack boost.

To make things short - this is a pretty hairy card from Zanz's perspective.

Maybe, maybe not.  I don't see why it can't be buffable.  Zanz writes new mechanics all the time, so this shouldn't be too difficult, since it's a simple value modification.

Let's see.
Sacrifice eclipse buffed obsidian dragon for 14 attack onto a 6 attack vampire stiletto for 20 damage and 20 healing at the cost of 4 + 12 + 2 = 18  :darkness.

Sounds reasonable...ish.
Then you use enchant artifact, BOOM

I like the idea very much. If the ability is free, I foresee two potential situations in which it is overpowered though:

1. complementing Fractal Ball Lightning with Condor and Bone Wall
2. complementing a control rainbow to rack up more creature kills

Hope to see it implemented sometime after you resolve all the technicalities.

2 page of misreading!
never seen an odder forum!

then...
wonderful!
let's see stronger attack
15/2 ruby dragon+ vampire dagger+soulsteal=21dmg+vampire
cost 12 :fire +4 :darkness +3 :death
strongest mono death combo is
11/5 ivory dragon+arsenic+soulsteal=13dmg with poison!

pretty balanced to me since the attack in game is the same
It works like quint(and it costs the same) except the creature is destroyed
It triggers death effect but abilities are gone

Tea is good

If you fly a weapon that just gained attack, would it keep the buff?

Lots of talk about Vamp Stiletto. This would make for a great (potentially anti-FG) Titan deck, though, too. If you had a rainbow stall, PA a Titan + Soulsteel any large creature (you could Chaos Power/Bless/Rage Elixir it too, in a rainbow). Complicated strategy requiring many cards, but a deck with lots of healing and a good shield could pull it off. It would be a great new way to defeat gods like Gemini. I think it would be a good card, but I am not seeing it as wildly overpowered.

Vamp Stilettos have been talked about as the most overpowered use for this, but that requires a substantial amount of quanta and the right cards. Plus it would take a third element to PA. If we are talking rainbow/trio to protect it, then it would definitely take long enough to develop that I think it would be fair. A lot of healing, yes, but so too is Fractal/Vampire, and that's not a tremendously popular deck. Tricky set-ups always have some difficulty to pull off. If it turned out to be overpowered in practice, then I think a cost bump to make it so that you couldn't play it with just a mark would compensate.

Speaking of PA, does this keep the same stats when stolen? And was there a decision about flying? I can't remember reading one as I read through; there was so much back and forth. I suppose those are things that would just be up to Zanz if he ever actually makes the card, so it's not terribly important.

I would assume stolen weapons keeping the power might prove a coding problem, but probably not insurmountable.  And the flying stats are it's damage plus whatever HP is was given.
