the basic version affects both players, the upgraded version only affects the owner.

damage healed to the player is equal to damage done to the creature.

this works well in combination with voodoo dolls as well as with tailored :darkness :gravity decks, creatures with gravity pull will become more useful.

Does this stack with each copy on the field? Or will only one of them give you health no matter how many are splashed?

On a sidenote, perhaps the upped version should be called something like Selfish Sadism, fits a bit more thematically than generic 'improved' and makes sense in the card context.

I think a cost of 1 :darkness is too low for what this does, I'm thinkign 3 or 4 :darkness. This would be a great anti firestall card.

I also agree that this card costs to little. It can splash into a couple of decks too leniently.
Basic version benefits you if you don't damage player.

Armagio is what I'm thinking of pair with this card. Gravity Pull, Acceleration and such makes good  :darkness :gravity synergy as you said.
Other cards; the darkness alchemy spell/gargoyle

Drain life doubles your gain, and is especially helpful for Gargoyle (You wouldn't want to hurt Armagio)

I'm just wondering, if you you a rain of fire, how much do you heal by? And what if the opponent holy light/Arch Angels or in general heals monsters?

stacking wasn't intended, if that were desired then increasing the cost would be necessitated.  and likewise if the damage done to any creature benefited you.

selfish sadism doesnt really make sense, sadism is enjoying pain inflicted on others, so by default it is selfish, improved is basically just a generic term at this point in the game, "improved fog" or "improved dusk" etc are along the same vein.

if rain of fire were cast, it would depend on how much damage were incurred, holy light (assuming it was not a damaging cast) or arch angel will not really have an impact on this card, aside from healing creatures up to allow more damage be done to them.

Eh, you should say exactly how much is healed in the notes, so people don't assume it's a constant or random value. In addition, if people think it's OP, you can set its value to damage taken / 2 (rounded up) to maintain its low cost. Also, does its effect kick in when creatures are sacrificed?

Are you going to make a "masochism" card, with each instance of the player being damaged giving a random creature the player controls +1/+1?

About its OPness, the thing is that card deck doesn't really help you kill your opponent, it actually does very little to change the game for the 1/30th of the deck it hoards. I mean, even a Druidic Staff is more powerful.

Masochism: creatures heal 1 damage for each damage inflicted on you (upped just your creatures...or also remove infection effects)
