The effects don't happen automatically, chance effects still have their respective chances of working. For example, an attacking creature gets the Permafrost Shield effect, 2 damage is reduced, but the freeze chance doesn't occur and the creature isn't frozen, while another creature takes Turtle Shield and gets delayed, etc. etc. It might be a bit difficult to code, but would be a VERY fun shield to play =D SERIES:

I love the idea.
Maybe take a look at unupped-upped shields differences to have an idea of whether to make the upped the same cost as the unupped... Just a thought

Yah, maybe.
All in all it should be fine though, although it has the potential to do a lot, the stability of it is WAY down there, so I think it could warrant a slightly lowish cost.

Up the cost. We don't need a cross between Bone Wall and Fire Shield here for only 4/3 Entropy.

Then again, after looking over the prices again, I guess a cost of 5/4 would be best. The upped shields are significantly cheaper on average.

Wow, reduced cost and better shield effect? I would upgrade this card first if it came out.

 = I think it's a little too much to add both as an improvement, either:

Reduce upgraded cost but have it use random unupgraded shield effects[/li]

OR

Keep upgraded and unupgraded costs the same and let upgraded shield use random upgraded shield effects, maybe even by a difference of 2 quanta.[/li]

I actually like the idea of 5 |4 , as the effects are generally not THAT more powerful.
Maybe upping the cost a bit more won't be a mistake, but just my thought...

Well honestly, only like...
6 shields (off the top of my head) actually get BETTER, and only marginally so.
They are:
  Diamond Shield, +1 Defence
  Jade shield, +1 Defence
  Spine Carapace, +1 Defence
  Hope, +1 Defence
  Mirror Shield, +1 Defence
  Permafrost Shield, +1 Defence

Out of those, none have a considerable increase in cost, (2 at most, Spine and Mirror don't even change) plus they account for less than half the shields in the game. (Remember, what you get is TOTALLY random).
Hope, Mirror Shield, and Jade shield Effects are pretty low defences anyways, so letting it use upgraded shield effects isn't actually that big of a buff.

On the other hand, compare with the other shield upgrades, where they don't actually CHANGE, but instead have a 1 or 2 quantum DECREASE in cost.

So, I think it's pretty much fair as it is.

What would happen if a creature got the Bone Wall effect? Would the attack be completely blocked, while destroying the shield? Same with Dissipation Shield, if you lack .
