Did you see the same idea by Hyroen? http://elementscommunity.org/forum/index.php/topic,14206.html
 Unupped version is identical.

I like this Harpy theme suggested by vrt, but the fact is that Hyroen was the first with the idea of this mechanic, which means that if this idea some day makes it to the game, Hyroen will probably get credit for it because he was first. I don't know if you care about that stuff, but I'm saying just in case so there won't be any problems or misunderstandings later.

Our card idea section is starting to get so big that it's more and more difficult to come up with unique ideas.
I'm flattered that such respect is presented to my idea, but the fact of the matter is that my idea was revived by Daxx, mine was swept up by time and was forgotten. As Daxx revived it I wouldn't mind if his idea was put into the Reliquary, if this card concept, of course, ever makes it.

This thing is actually bigger than any individual cards. The point here is that we need a system to deal with a situation where similar ideas are posted. Myself and Daxx disagree on the level of similarities with these two cards, but when the card descriptions are mechanically identical, I personally see those as pretty darn similar. :)

Nobody is forced to have their card idea added to the Reliquary, so declining that honor is perfectly acceptable. You do not want credit, but someone else might, which is why we need to have a rule for that situation. Simply reviving an idea does not mean you get the "ownership" of that idea. The least we can do is have links to previous similar ideas. A more hardcore option would be the merging thing I talked about earlier.

I'd like to add that I like this new :darkness version much more than the old :air one. The "Ghoul" theme was a bit weird, but the "Harpy" fits perfectly. Hopefully it will be added to the game at some point.

Hasn't it got a bit of cost there?

Most of the time you see opponents as having 0 to 4 cards in their hand, meaning this costs more than it's average value suggests. If you couple it with Nightmere (and opponent isn't playing rainbow) you can gain a great benefit (up to 7 granted attack). Anyway, it needs another card to combo it properly, and the average damage is about 4 anyway. I would suggest at least a 3 :darkness cost for the upped...

EDIT:
I heard my name?  :D

This is a good card. Fits darkness;s parasitic/symbiotic effect nicely. Harpy would fit the effect well indeed.

Anyways balance:

Skill:
Assuming the statistics Crow took on cards in hand is accurate then the average cards in hand is 3.25
Assuming this were in a deck then Nightmare would be as well. Over the course of a game the opponent's hand would fill up with more unplayable creatures and thus add to this creature's attack.
Estimated average = 4 (subject to playtesting in a nightmare deck)
Hence estimated value for the skill is 4 :darkness

Upgrade:
4HP -> 5HP is way too small of an upgrade.
4HP -> 6HP is acceptable.
0|4 [N|4] -> 1|4 [N+1|4] would work
0|4 for 4 :darkness -> 0|4 for 3 :darkness would work as well.

This is a well balanced card.
Here. Forgot about OldTrees here.
I see he suggested a decrease in cost too... I'd like it better than X|6. While it is a good anti-CC measure, it slows down what I see as a fast (and potentially Fractable) card.

You make a good point, but I chose that cost largely because of Fractal. One nightmare and one fractal can result in a lot of high-damage attacks before the enemy can do anything about it.

Assuming post-Fractal there are 7 of these on the field, doing 8 damage each due to nightmare - this is 56 damage (or a two-turn kill). At 4 :darkness each, the whole combo costs 30 :darkness and 10 :aether. At 3 :darkness each it's 23 :darkness - that's a turn or two faster. On the other hand, 30 :darkness might be too much to even bother using it as a combo at all. You might be right that it wouldn't be worth it.

Also, at 33 :darkness + 10 :aether, with a Gargoyle, an Eclipse and a Fractal (and 2 less spaces in your hand), you can already deal 54 damages. It's a slight advantage, which IMO would not be that great. And is more fun to play.

True, I didn't factor in nightfall/eclipse.

Thanks all for voting this into the Forge.

Now, are there any ways that we could improve the card to make sure it gets to the Armory?

Well, I still think upped Gargoyle is stronger than this.

I mean, look at the cards:
Gargoyle: 1 more quanta for 7 flat attack, and 3 less health (but possibly like 17 more health on the next turn...)
Harpy: 1 less quanta for up to 7 attack; 8 with Nightmere only, and that's ok it's possibly the whole point of this card. But the health advantage is (almost) meaningless, and normally this card would have less attack than a Gargoyle, possibly even 0.

I think this is kind of weak, I'd say at least 1+X attack on the upped might be in order...
