It has a higher attack because it's a Fire Creature. I wanted to make a cost effective mid ranged Fire Creature with an interesting ability. I find no reason why you would want to stall this yourself unless you're Fractalling them, so it's ability is mostly going to rely on your opponents deck. If the opponent decides not to stall you, causing it to grow in the process, you're still left with a decent, yet low hp creature.

I guess my thought here was to make it a creature that would see use regardless of whether or not it's ability came into play. Consider the ability as a bonus, not a strategy to build a deck on. Unless like I said, you want to Fractal it, then Sundial an army of them just for teh lulz.

Nobody answered my question, so I'll reiterate.

This with Adrenaline and Sundial and Overdrive is +25/+0 per turn.

Which is scary. Incredibly scary.

Keep in mind that the Attack gain is at the end of every turn that it fails to deal damage. So it will only gain +2/+1 if you BB + Adren it. But that's an odd trio anyway :P

The only issue with this is the following:
Regardless of how Napalm states that it will work, you need to look at how Adrenaline currently works in regards to turns.  Cards such as Freeze and Basilisk Blood say they stop the creature for 3-6 turns and yet Adrenaline can make the effect last for 2 turns.  This is because the "turns" are treated as actions rather than actual turns.  Unfortunately this causes confusion because it would seem the Swordsman's effect would be directly correlated with these actions.

Hmm, I guess you're right. I did overlook the fact that Adrenaline screws up my turns theory. And yeah, that WOULD be rather scary. But honestly, it's pretty easy to kill something with only 2hp, and that seems like an INCREDIBLY screwy combo. You'd need to have... well... the luck of the kartis... to pull that off with any efficiency :P

Not at all.

It takes a minimum 3 card combo to make this card uber and 2 hp is very easy to kill.  At the base, we have a 5/2 for 4 :fire upped.  Compare this with frog who is 5/3 for 2:life and you see its definitely not a cost efficient beater.  So it needs to rely on the effect to be a viable attacking option.  The effect is very situational if you are waiting for the opponent to activate it.  If the opponent holds freeze, permafrost, BB, they are probably better served either not playing them, or using them very strategically.  With wings, phase shield, and bonewall who cares, this card wo't hit you much anyways.

You really have to build your own deck around this guy to get full mileage from him.  You'll probably want a PSNbow with fire mark to get this card out fast but yet also have the utility cards to use his effect.  I've made deck like this before.  I've had a buffed 25 attack vampire and a momentum's adrenalined stalker on the field at the same time.  YEah I won that game, but the deck failed to fire many others and is severely weak to any form of CC.  That leaves you for a very unstable deck that may be brilliant some games and a dud others.  Its a general rule of card games (well MtG) that if it takes a 3 card combo to make a card broken it is not broken.  With 3 cards, I can play Silurian dragon, mitosis, and Sor or any number of combos that are as strong or stronger.  We really never see this types of deck at the forefront, solely because they are not dependable.

I love this card and it would add a great new flavor to :fire, but it is in no way close to overpowered.
