Deckbuilding: Duel phase has started
Duels: Fighting ends!
No Event Card this round!

A reminder that we can only convert 12!

Spoiler for what this topic is for:
We'll use this topic (and chat) to discuss who should take which deck with what build, etc.  As I said in the Deck Ideas thread, you are ultimately responsible for your deck choice each round.  I will not be choosing your deck for you (though I hope you'll listen to the opinions of your teammates and I  ;D).  Part of deckbuilding is choosing roles for each player.  It makes more sense to include who should be Lt for the round as a part of the deckbuilding discussion as the Lt gets three extra ups.  Likewise, we have a decision to make each round on whether to make use of the Berserker ability, etc.  In future rounds we will also need to discuss s/d/c/p.  All of these discussions occur concurrently, and we'll use a thread like this as well as chat to facilitate the discussion.
Spoiler for Member roles reminders:
General - uses nine ups
- Lieutenant - uses six ups
- Strategist - may remove up to six cards from his deck before each duel. Each duel must have a legal deck, and his full deck must also be legal.
- Berserker - discard 1, 2 or 3 cards from the Vault during deckbuilding. The Berserker may use 1, 3 or 4 extra upgrades respectively.
- Quartermaster - if the Quartermaster plays in a battle, each winner from their team may claim 1 card from their element by relinquishing 3 of their salvage, or 2 salvage if the Quartermaster wins. Limit of two cards per person. Teams may not claim cards they already have at least 6 copies of.
- Standard Bearer - salvages N more cards and discards N fewer cards, where N is the number of wins their team has had that round.

Please try to have initial thoughts written 48 hours into deckbuilding each round at the very latest.  Bonus points for earlier. ;)  That gives us two days to discuss, finalize, sdcp, add everything to vault, etc.

Countdown to 48 hour mark: was here

vs :entropy That discord really hurts a stupid amount. I'm in favor of sancstall here.
vs :earth Chat already has 2 nymphs down for it, so why not? Only fear I have is the immortal with mirror shield.

My initial suggestion for the earth match is 2 nymphs - although more testing would be nice - as to the fear of reflective shields they have not played any and have had no opportunity to salvage in any round during the war - its highly unlikely we'll see them.

Sanc Stall seems a viable play against Entropy - that said I'd like to toy around with Bone Air as well - see if we can find a build that can reliably block Discord with Bone Wall. In addition it feels like a solid play against their PU/Dim Deck

I wanted to point out at this turn for the worse, that it is a good chance to reorganize as good as possible so we get a final shot for winning/placements.
Bonair survived so probably we can field that or sancstall with few extra cards required.
After those 2 what is more advantageous to have for the next rounds?
A 2 nymph deck that kev does not have the nymphs for? Shadow drags thats seems to get trolled by disco, bows and generally did not perfom favourably this war?
Hurricane?

The other option is to see what we can build for this round to have the best chances of going 2-0.

Imo we are pretty trapped and we don't have as many options as I hopped initially.

PS: Why did I get promoted? Elbrin and jen-i had so much better stats this war...imo they deserve it more

First an(other) apology.  I'm not sure how I managed to mismanage my time so badly this War.  I feel like I've been in chat a fair amount but I'm always there alone or with a sleeping Burd.  I've spent a fair amount of time thinking about matchups each round but my contributions are dwarfed by you all, especially by Jen and maul, the testing fanatics.  I jumped into the glenn/Elb thing when I thought intervention was needed, but apparently I was late to the party and ruffled feathers.

I'd love to follow that up with "I'll try to contribute more" but now I'm at a conference in Fort Lauderdale until Tuesday late night.  WiFi in the room is ridiculous, so I'm literally hiding outside of a cocktail reception in a conference room atm.  I won't be in chat much at all while I'm here but this conference is mostly boring so I'll be on the forum from my smartphone plenty.  Wednesday I'll be back to work and my schedule will resume normalcy.

Again, sorry.  My one success as a General was drafting players who don't follow my example.

PS: Why did I get promoted? Elbrin and jen-i had so much better stats this war...imo they deserve it more
I checked  the player order before the deadline and would have done what Jen did had he not beat me to the punch.  You've been a massive contributor to the team, much moreso than me, and that's no secret.  Furthermore if I could rotate the Gen position among you guys I'd do that, too.

Quote from: Jen
Bone Air - Sanc Stall - Hurricane - 2 Nymphs - Dark Duo (only one of the last 2)
From that list the two I'd least want to field in these matchups would be Bonair and Dark Duo.  I cheated this round and looked at all of your suggestions before writing this but I would've almost definitely come to the same conclusions.  2 Nymphs to Erf, Sancs to Pony.  I completely agree.

Posted those in chat too, but I know yuou prefer it here so...

Entropy sends
pandebonium to gravy (dim fractal chargers/guards)
dims to water (entropy/water dom+no PC+4xloss to dims R6)
PUgons to darkness (got sancstal and dims)
mono? to death (disco splash or darkduo)
----- to aether (crap loads of options)
----- to us (bonebolt+ crap?)

----- represent something custom or 2xbow

The  greatest fears for sancstall is monoentropy and PUgons. From the above I am pretty sure pugons is going somewhere else. Mono though?

Also jen's mono option, what does it bring to the table more than sancstall? It still lose to pugons and give mono some troubles but still lose, no? Also weaker to other decks like pande and dims

Add your thoughts plz

Since kev injected me with the poison of doubt here is a breadown of earth matchup.

To others we seem to have available: a sancstall (won R4), hurricane (won R5), bonair (won R6) and some scraps.
At the same time they got a serious hitter issue, which forces to run immortal or dim PUgons in one match and mono(grabs of the mark) or a gimped bow on the other.

Dims beat sancstall, huricane and maybe bonair.
Immortal beats sancstall(if fat enough), huricane and bonair.
Mono lose to sancstall, lose to huricane and maybe beats bonair.
Bow lose to sancstall, lose to hurican and lose to bonair.

We salvaged the 2 nymphs deck for the reason it beats both dims and immortal. It is not a great deck, it is not balanced but beats (ai testing and real) those 2.

If you think that we might get so well mindgated a simple solution is to go -2fog +2wings. The cost of doing so is 2 fogs and 4 BW.

As for the quanta they are not set up for a rush. Even for what this deck is they are wrong. The deck performs as well with -1 drag but what can be added? At this point going -drag +Q means we lose the drag forever. Also even with better Q balance it cannot catch up with their mono without the wings.

Maybe someone that knows Mrpaper better should have the final call. If it was all up to me I would risk beating immortal and dims and lose to something else.

Lol.  I definitely didn't intend to poison anyone.  I'm 100% comfortable with the deck we've chosen and your testing supports our choice as well.  I just questioned whether we'd found the right QI for this build.  But it might be more a deckbuilding style thing than a right/wrong thing.  Feel free to ignore me.  You're gonna squish them like a bug anyway.  :P
