Well not every card needs to be of the same value as another.  Fog shield is already ignored as is, but it still exists.  It also affects every creature 40% of the time, where as this, I assume, only affects half the creatures for 100% of the time.

Different scenarios could provide a better incentive to use either.

I agree with you about multiple shields per Element, but:

1. Light has three shields.
2. Life's shields have two totally different effects (reflecting spells + reduced damage; 75% poison).

Light has 3 shields, and only 1 is powerful the others are medium. Death also has 2 shield a great one ( bone wall) and a cheap one (skull buckler)

Fog Shield is a lot more widely used than you may think. Mono and speed rainbows both use it a lot.

Life's shields have two totally different effects (reflecting spells + reduced damage; 75% poison).

And you say that Wings isn't totally different from Fog Shield?

These are relative terms depending on a situation. Hope is useless against a Fire Lance staller deck, and Hope is also useless in any deck without a way to generate creatures that generate .

Anyway, adding Wings will not make Fog shield obsolete, since some decks somewhere will still use it.

Also, Skull Buckler is not cheap if you use a certain creature control card that creates a ton of 1/1 creatures.

"Wings" is a fine name. Light's shield is called "hope." Looks like Zanz may be creating a one-word shield for each element. Kind of like an uber-themed shield (light's depends on the production of light, air's reflects the ability of flight).

That being said, what if this shield were like hope instead? For each flying creature you control, you take one less damage?
