I don't really know how to take this card. Clearly it has some incredible potential ... somehow I don't like it being an Aether card though. I'm unsure what element I'd like to have this effect. Probably it makes the most sense for Time to have the ability to freeze the opponent's ability to play cards for a turn ... I guess I could also see the effect as a Light effect ... or maybe even a Water effect. Not really Aether though.

I'm not really seeing the combo potential with Nightmare.  Wouldn't you just discard at the end of your turn anyway, opening up a spot for a draw?  This card doesn't say it prevents drawing.  And subsequent Nightmares would do nothing.

Air does make the most sense for this card conceptually as it's most closely related to sound as we most often experience it.  But I can see how Aether needs a little love.

Had to laugh at the comments crediting this to Final Fantasy, as I'm pretty sure Dungeons and Dragons had a Silence spell long before... and probably even other games before D&D.  :D

This card design *****! What is the purpose for this? Giving major buff for :rainbow decks?

So far every card in this game has had some innate weakness, that gave the opponent way to counter it, but this card has none. All you have to do is just play this, and opponent is screwed for next turn. >:(

Only way to make this balanced card would be making it work like Sundial - instead for "You don't play anything next turn!" it would be "We don't play anything next turn." Raising the cost for the card is just gonna make it unplayable, and we don't need more collectors items Relic, Chimera, and Skeleton are enough already.

Hmm.. I'm not crazy about this card. Personally, I would prefer this to be a permanent with an effect of not being able to use any active abilities (from creatures and permanents already in play) that lasted for few turns.

Aether is an energy of immobile dimensions. Silence fits flawlessly in Aether, like I've always said. That said, I expected it to stop specific cards, such as spells. As it is, this is very powerful, and I absolutely love it. Fits so well in both monoaether and speed- or denialbows. It's too early to say if it should cost 1 more, but it's certainly a possibility.

Aether is the prime Element present in all things, providing space, connection and balance for all Elements to exist.
Aether represents the sense of joy and union, and the ultimate potential of all things.

Seems like a nice counter-Miracle card, but yeah, I think it probably needs to be more expensive .

Zanzarino should give credit to Final Fantasy for this card.

Pretty obvious connection IMO.
This same thing comes up with almost every single new card.

The fact is that there are basically no more new ideas in any games, especially in CCG's, because of the huge card pool of games like MtG. No matter how "unique" your idea, someone somewhere has already done it in some shape or form.

Related to this, ideas are not copyrighted. Lets say I was the first person ever to create the concept of Paladin. Does that mean that every time someone uses the word Paladin in a game, they have to give me credit for coming up with the idea? Of course not because that would be silly.

This card has two parts. The name "Silence", and the mechanic of not letting your opponent play any cards. Both of these ideas have been used a million times before since the dawn of computer gaming, and saying that Final Fantasy came up with it, is again, silly.

I love the card. My #1 favorite strategy in all games is to annoy my opponents. It makes the victory that much sweeter. :) Silence works perfectly towards that goal, so I will definitely be using this card.

Don't consider the extreme case and judge the card depending on it.
I dont know if taking 6 of a card could even be called extreme, but that is exactly what should be looked at when balancing a card - the best possible scenario for its usage.

Anyway, card is pretty much broken. Rush + Silence = you managed to play 1 or maybe 2 turns tops (try immo rush with aether mark and silence for example), Denial + Silence = you never really managed to play anything (Discord + Silence).

I just did a game with Discord/Black Hole and had a single Deathstalker for damage on the field. First several turns I just denied quanta, then played Silence for the last 4 turns till I got the kill.

Silence is too strong when chained - 1st when chained early in the game to prevent opponent from even starting his game, and 2nd when you chain it after you get damage down, to get a kill preventing opponent to do anything about it. Card cannot be countered. At all.

Wait 'till the next to last turn, when you're sure you'd win, but he has that annoying [insert] shield in play. Just play this and he has to sit and watch as you destroy him.
Perception is the source of misunderstanding.

Why, yes. I do have a Mindgate necklace. It's how I ninja everyone.

I think I saw this card while I was playing against 10 men's AI. There will be awesome combos with this one. Nice card.
