Pretty obvious connection IMO.
If it was copied from FF, it would only stop spells from being played rather than all cards :P.

Don't consider the extreme case and judge the card depending on it. According to your logic, upgraded Nightmare is also crazy because with 6 :darkness, you can prevent opponent's draws for six freakin turns.

At first I thought this would be a permanent, but as a spell it also makes sense... and the fact that it counters ALL cards (not just spells) makes it one of the top denial cards (if not THE TOP card) in-game. Devourer, Black Hole, Earthquake, Rewind, etc.... they just can't compare to this card. >_>

I just thought of one of the most evil decks using this card and a few other 'not-so-used' cards... :P

I would recommend the cost raise to 6, so it won't be abused in early game
and I agree make it as a life card is much better since we have too many strong card in aether

Seems too cheap now at only 3 :aether for unupped. I'm for increasing the cost or just stopping permanents/spells.

Well I haven't actually played with it I'm only typing theoretically but...

Going first and playing 1st turn Silence is OP because you've gained an extra turn at the start of the game for only 3/2 :aether .  You're also causing opponent to discard so you've gained a turn and killed a card.  Now mulitiply that by however many Silence you manage to chain at the start of the match.  Also the last thing we need is another card that can be abused with supernova (http://elementscommunity.org/forum/index.php/topic,10216.0.html).

Raise the cost, either make it like 5/4 :aether or even more expensive and add a cantrip.

I think the drawback should be you have to play it at the start of your turn, and you can't play anything else in your turn either. Either that, or make it only restrict some of the cards.
