I was wondering since Salvager does not tell which side of the field it affects, so if an opponent destroys their own permanent, would you get a copy of said permanent?

I tested this in the trainer... it doesn't work.
I tested with explosion, pulvy, stealing my own card, and butterfly effect.
The description says "A permanent destroyed by your opponent..."
But I was curious and just wanted to make sure ;D

Originally self-PC would trigger the effect, but this would be abusive to having infinite Dims with only a duo.

Some corrections:
1)...
2) If I have 25 attack on my side of the field and I have 4 uses of PC, I have defeated a Phase Salvager supported Dimensional Shield.
1....

2. ... You happen to get out at least 25 attacks on field and the opponent has no form of CC, while you happen to draw 4 PC out of your decks before you get killed by immortal creatures and the almost unblockable psion. ... you have slight chance of drawing 4 PC in time unless you are using a dedicated anti-stalling deck.

3 PC spells right here.

Here's some lesser known facts about the ability Salvage, 1&2 are only reiterating what has been said already.

1) Only returns one permanent per Salvager per turn.
2) Only returns one per Earthquake, regardless of how many Salvagers you have.
3) Cannot Salvage while Frozen or Delayed.

And now I'm going to try SoP Salvager deck, again...

phase salvager is completely useless in its current form. Having to use other cards to buff it to make it useful doesn't leave much room for perms in a deck.
[...]

Seriously tho, I can see the gravy salvager being much more useful in aether duos. With the exception of SoP (which is banned in many pvp events), phase salvager is a dead card.

Somebody contested this but I think I agree. Forgetting about salvage's applications outside of mono-aether for a moment, if I was going to splash a duo element so that I could use Salvage, I probably still wouldn't use the Phase Salvager because I could do this:

Hover over cards for details, click for permalink
Deck import code : [Select]
563 563 563 563 563 61o 61o 61o 61o 61o 61o 61o 61o 61o 61o 61o 61o 61o 61o 61o 61t 61t 61t 61t 61t 61v 61v 61v 61v 61v 8pl

The alternative is using twice as many cards, and probably a lot more quanta, to play Phase Salvager + a buff.

I fully appreciate that the Phase Salvager needs a serious buff to prevent overpowering the already much-despised mono-aether decks, but at it stands, the card is underpowered by the definition that another card is more-or-less plainly superior.

Notice that Graviton Salvager requires a card combo with it to deal damage
Hover over cards for details, click for permalink
Deck import code : [Select]
55q 55q 55q 55q 55q 55q 61o 61o 61o 61o 61o 61o 61t 61t 61t 61t 61t 61t 61u 61u 626 626 626 626 626 626 63a 63a 63a 63a 8pl

Not to say 5|1 non immaterial creatures with momentum are better than 8|6 immaterial dragons. But this deck uses much less quanta, so there's more room to add cards to this (Otys perhaps that can use salvagers as fodder?)

Another good point. If Phase Salvagers are the only creature's in your deck that aren't immaterial, they will soak up CC straight away.
