Isn't Dune Scorpion a possible counter to Mind Gate?

Yes and no. Once the Dune Scorpion applies its poison, then yes - using Mind Gate to grab your opponent's pillars and using them increases the poison stack, but otherwise, Mind Gate can also be used to simply 'figure out' what your opponent is going to play and responding accordingly.

Nightmare is a better counter, because using that against a player with Mind Gate means that they cannot draw cards OR 'duplicate' the next card in your deck. (Nightmare fills up your opponent's hand with a generally unusable creature, unless they duplicated your pillars and played them before you used Nightmare)

You mind gate mind gates to get more than 6 of those, and then mindgate stone skins with the mindgated mind gates to get more of those.

Potentially, if you drew all 6 mindgates before any stone skins at all, you could get
6*15+6 stone skins, or 96.
96*50 = 4800+100=4900 max health.
And if you throw in sods...
96 sods = 1920
+4900 = 6820

So, if all the cards came out right (highly unlikely), you could potentially get 6820 max health, I think.

That just comfirms why this card needs a nerf.   6 or more of these running rampid on one side of the field could be lolz against a number of decks.  I have another idea on how to possibly nerf this card.  You could put this card in a 1-2 turn time bubble after use.  A deck with 6 phase shield, 6 Mind gate and a variety of aether and quantum Towers .is just stupid scary right now.  This against a speedbow would be something like 6 graboid 1 turn, 6 frog the next, 6 lightning to clear out the field, 6 flesh recluse ftw.  The possibilities are endless.  Where fractal is expensive and drains all aether quanta as a serios nerf, this is equally or more powerful and is cheap to play and use.

actually, the simplest nerf to this card that i can think of is putting a rule stating that you can only have a single Mind Gate in play at all time similar to shield/weapon
or just make it an activate-able shield of some sort

copying 1 card out of your opponent's deck a turn is fine but the problem is when you can get multiple copies in a single turn (leading to numerous SoGs, Miracles or whatever it is really)

btw this card is friggin awesome, even if i can only use it once a turn, it is still a fun card

You'll get 6820 health ONLY if you are playing with someone with the sole intent to get that. They need mindgates AND stoneskins AND SoDs, and those will never come together unless you specifically plan it out. And even then, your opponent would need to draw all pillars, and you would need to draw a mindgate. Then your opponent would need to draw all 6 mindgates before ANY stone skins or SoDs. Then you need to get 50 earth before you opponent draws ANY stone skins. THEN you can go crazy. It'll never happen.

Wait, so I just come into play with 6 mindgates on the field and quanta to play these lightnings and graboids and frogs? That's pretty cool, and I agree that's OP, but... that's not how it works .

I guarantee you a speedbow would outrush a deck using these. 100%.

As an Aether player, this card intrigues me.  After seeing both Time-based and Entropy-based Rainbow decks, I thought it would be interesting to build an Aether-based Rainbow to see how it works.  This card would definitely make for an interesting mechanic in that deck.

I like Mind Gate + Phase shields better though, but that deck could be...very powerful. I'm going to go test it in trainer.

A nice thing about this card is that it makes you as the opponent have to think harder. Your opponent use a mind gate? Better pay attention to what the next card you draw is to see what you may be up against. If your opponent can get the quanta for it of course.
