In my experience, you can safely run 4-5 QP's without more being necessary in a Mindgate deck (they usually work without them, even).
Now, a Mindgate deck relies on the power of your opponent as it draws upon it. Because AI2 decks suck, it's no wonder you can't beat them often. As such, you're going to need some reliable offense.
Since you're Aether, that's a no-brainer: we have the most reliable physical offense around. Because you can add more Aether pillars or pends (the latter for Earthquake resistance), you can add some Phase Dragons (3-4). In the same process, remove the PU's and add another Dim Shield.
The Lightnings are optional and removing them is probably more optimal because you can make the deck smaller. I would recommend keeping it around or under 32 cards. If you have Lobos, they make for fast and fairly reliable offense as well as utility that strengthens Dim Shields (removes Momentum and skills like a Chrysaora's poison or a mutant's steal).
