Welcome, all challengers, to this season's 12 Lives PVP Event. PVP Events are much like larger, longer versions of the weekly PVP tournament, but with some restricted deckbuilding rules.
Thank you to TheOwner for providing the idea for this PVP Event.
12 Lives EVENT RULES
1. Joining
Who can join the 12 Lives event?
There are no restrictions. Anyone from a beginner or a seasoned veteran is welcome to join a 12 Lives event!
Signing up
Signups are Complete!
Swiss
The 12 Lives Event will be a Swiss event.
2. Getting Ready
Lives and Elimination
The 12 Lives event centers around each player's 12 lives -- one for each Mark in the game. Every individual fight within a match, you risk whatever Mark you choose to use. If you win that fight, you keep your life. If you lose that fight, you cannot use that Mark again unless you gain a life (see below) -- and yes, this means you can win a match but still lose 2 lives in the process. Since you can't build a deck with no Mark, obviously, a player who loses all 12 lives is out of the event.
Matches
Once all players have signed up, Essence will make brackets like a normal Swiss tournament, and announce matches in this thread. Players will then have four days to play thier matches. After four days, Essence will announce the next set of matches. Matches will be best-of-five. (This means that you can lose as many as three lives per match.)
Gaining and Losing Lives
Players who sweep another (win a match 3-0) gain one life. Players who LOSE to another player by 0-3 lose TWO EXTRA lives of their choice.
Building decks
The only deckbuilding restrictions in the 12 Lives event are:
1) You cannot use a Mark associated with a life you have already lost.
2) You cannot use more than 6 upgraded cards.
Winning a Match
Desynchs will be replayed unless both players agree that one player was clearly going to win the match. When a match is won, the winner will post the results to this thread along with each deck he used during the match., and then the loser will ALSO post each deck he used during the match.
Details
Finding an opponent
You are responsible for finding and arranging a match with your opponent. BCC a copy of all PMs intended to set up a match to Essence. That way, he can tell who is making an effort and who isn't. Players who aren't will be automatically defeated by their active opponent (they will lose 3 lives of their choice) at the end of each three-day round. Players who are both inactive OR both active and cannot agree on a time will both lose 3 lives.
Changing your deck
You are allowed to change your deck (and mark) in any way you choose between any fight, but you only have 3 minutes to do so. If it takes you longer than 3 minutes, it is considered a forfeit and the other player goes to next round. (For this reason, it's probably wise to come up with decks before the event starts and have them ready to copy-paste into the Import/Export window between fights.)
Scoring
The only score is the number of lives you have left. You are obligated to tell your opponent how many and which specific Marks you have left to use if and when they ask.
Cheating
We take all kind of cheating very seriously. If you get caught cheating, you automatically lose and will be banned indefinitely from all Elements community PvP and PvE events. So please play fair.
4. Other rules
Warning system
If a player quits mid-event for any reason, or disrupts the event in any way, he will receive a warning. If you get 3 warnings in a single season, you will be banned from all PvP events until the end of the NEXT season.
If you have any questions about the rules, please post them here. Thank you.
