i was hoping bonus lives come from fair play instead of "oh, my opponent is MIA, score!"

At the same time, it doesn't really seem fair to take away the opportunity for them to get an extra life just because their opponent didn't show up.

and looking at challonge bracket, i find it odd that ties (0-0) has both a negative and positive (loses 5 lives while gaining 0.5 score in standings)
shouldnt it be that they both lose 5 lives and not gain anything?

That's just an artifact of how swiss tournaments are normally run. In this event, you're out once you've lost 12 lives, so "drawing" a match doesn't really do you any good.

Actually, its unfair, since most of the matches end 3-1 or 3-2 (it's mathematical), and you also have the opportunity to lose...
If your opponent doesn't show you should be computed a 3-1 without any mark losing, or even a 3-0 but without having any extra life... You won't lose, neither win

But you're still punishing them, if only slightly, for something that's not their fault whatsoever.

There is no punish in letting you with all your lives for the next match while most of the rest (more than a half) have 1 or 2 marks less than you, so you'll just "enter" to the event lets say, 1 round later

There is no sense discussing it here. I don't care about the extra life thing. I'd perfectly fine not having it, that's probably how I'd prefer it since we didn't do anything to gain it, except be around when our opponent wasn't. Take the matter up with Demagog.

R2: I figured he'd be smart enough not to try life rush again, so I switched to fire stall:

He played a golem rush, and my hand was epic fail. (3 miracles, 2 light pend, 1 RP, 1 Burning pillar). He got three golems right off the bat, and one can't do much with only one RP. I lost.

R3: I have no clue why, but I went with a SNovabow for this round. I had a hax draw into a hax shield which haxxed his golems so hard that I outrushed golem rush.

R4: I thought about RoL/Hope, though I figured he'd run the same rush with a different mark. So, I just hoped that he didn't have CC and ran Adrena-Staves again. He saw what I was playing, forfeited, and left.

Apparently he was using marks he didn't have for R2, 3, and 4. These are autolosses for him according to Dema. So I keep my  Mark, and gain one mark back.

this is the same thing that happened to phat deck event when Event Organizer ignored posts in thread which lead to a whole bunch of guys quitting

QuantumT, you want to talk about fairness? bonuses are usually given when you do something extra
they *might* get 3-0 bonus if their opponent came, but they also could've gone either 3-1, 3-2, 1-3, 2-3, 0-3
just showing your face around and have your opponent MIA giving you the bonus is not ok in my book no matter how you slice it

i agree with the second point, its doesnt matter in the short term but if someone could potentially win back all their lives lost, those 0.5 could be the deal breaker when determining the winner...so what say you now?

We went mark versus mark here. Got early devourers and gargoyle out but they fell quickly to a RoF. Still had plenty of creatures played to bring his life down but he had some more cc ready for the vamps. phoenix whittled my life down and as expected finished me off with fire bolt and farenheit.

I was thinking of doing speed poison but decided against it. Instead, I did another version of the darkness swarm but this time with earthquakes. He got a lone flying arsenic out and got me with a couple of poisons but I had him locked out with devourers and earthquake. But only 1 vamp came out really late and no liquid shadow. Came down to my last draw, and I drew a devourer! Tough luck.


Not really sad to see the other marks go but losing really hurts.

This is the battle thread. This place is for posting the results of a battle. Not for addressing complaints. Just PM him. And saying he is ignoring you is a bit much. He could has simply not seen your post or checked this thread since you posted your complaint.
