Mark : 3x Aether
Creature Control : 4 Fire Lances, 2 Fire Storms, 2 Thunderbolts
Permanent Control : 8 Explosions

This god combines Fractal and Phoenix in order to overwhelm his opponents with massive damage. He first takes out a few Minor Phoenixes, then, when his 3x mark generates enough quanta, uses fractal and brings out several more. These phoenixes are indestructible, reviving a turn after they were killed. If the phoenixes are not enough, there are also big-hitting Ruby dragons coming out quite often. Also with many creature controls and permanent controls, this god is one of the hardest to beat.

Strategy :

Many known False God decks stand no chance against Eternal Phoenix.

Rainbow controls and OTKs are too slow and easily overwhelmed by the god’s early damage. Also, explosions render them useless. SoP-based OTKs with sundial fare somewhat better, as sundial can be used to block off explosions temporarily.

Ray of Light / Hope deck stands some chance only if the god doesn’t draw his two Rain of Fire. Ruby dragon’s high attack leaks through Hope’s defense wall. This applies a bit less so for decks with SoP, as SoP can bring RoLs out of 3-HP territory fairly quickly if given the time to do so. Make sure you protect the SoP, either using a phase salvager, or by guarding it with sundials.

Hope can bait one Firestorm early with at least 2 RoL’s, but you can’t wait too long or this FG will do too much damage to you. Don’t keep more than one Fractal’s worth of RoL’s up unless he’s played one (and not more than two if he’s played one), and always have one RoL and a Fractal ready in your hand if you’re set up. SoG’s and Sancts can help you survive a bit at the start, but obviously nothing to rely on. If you get your RoL’s out when he’s low on fire quanta and can use Fractal, he will Fractal them instead of his Minor Phoenixes, making the same mistake Decay does. This can be -extremely- helpful, so try to make it happen. He uses Firestorm after Fractal, but probably uses Fire Lance before Fractal like Decay uses Siphon Life before Fractal if they deem they have enough quanta for it. Archangels are preferable to Light Dragons due to healing and speed. This FG will require all your attention and a bit of luck to win against with Hope.

Poison stall is one of the best counters, as although Eternal Phoenix can burst damage, he can't CC an entire phoenix swarm when SoSac is up, and he has no healing.

Voodoo bravery can get outrushed for damage, so use SoBe to clog Eternal Phoenix's hand and move quickly.

Fire Shield ideally works the best since it kills all the phoenixes on one hit, and also Ruby Dragons with only 2 HP. However, remember that phoenixes revive afterwards for another huge assault.

Oracle Counter

With Eternal Phoenix’s swarm of 1-HP creatures, Thunderstorm/Desiccation + Vulture + Bone Wall is a natural combo. Boneyard triggers his Fire Storm, making your Bone Wall and Vultures ridiculously huge.

Dry Spell will also attack your field so no Vulture in a Dry Spell deck.
