When a permanent card is played it goes into one of the slots in the bottom of the screen. Shields and weapons are special permanents that are placed into their fixed slots. If you try to play multiple weapons or shields they will be replaced. Other permanents can be used multiple times as long as there are enough permanent slots. Some permanents like pillars and shards can be stacked, so they can be played unlimited amount of them.
