Ask anything about WoE.

How will diplomacy work? I mean will any alliances that are made be technically unofficial? Or is there some system that it has to go through?

Merchants:  can you only buy each specific card in their respective capital city (i.e. only air cards can be bought in cloud city) or can you buy any card in any city?

Quests: Where will we see what quests are available?  Will they be in each of our secret sections and we go to our capitals to pick them up or will there be a general running log of available quests and were they can be picked up?

Upgraded Cards: I see we can use 1 upped card corresponding to the mark skill we have.  It also seems like we gain upgraded cards based upon level?  Or upgrades specifically for the skills we have (i.e. we have 12 life skills, so then we can use up to 13 life upgrades ... accounting for the 1 extra from the mark)?

Team income: It seems like we get income for our team based upon hexes we control.  Do we have to use the 'work' action to gain this income?  Do we need to go to our capital to pick up our income?

Misc: Can we cross the river running around the map (I understand that the map linked in the unofficial sheet might change) or can we only use the bridges?  What happens if you must discard below 30 cards? Are you dead dead? Will there be quest progression that don't involve killing people if we would rather not murder for no good reason?

If a player is to be kicked out for Incactivity, what is the limit of days/weeks until you are vulnerable?
Reason for me asking is because I have school and heaps of work to do, as well as a few camps here and there...
Thanks!

Are the various resurrection skills meant to have parity with each other? A self-rez can only affect you, while one person with a targetable rez can basically cover the whole team's rez needs.

What do :earth players do with the relics they dig up? Can you dig up multiple relics in the same location?

Anything the rest of us can do while :aether tests their char sheets?

First of all, there's no need to worry too much about technical details at this point. Everything will be explained as we go long. First Days of WoE will be tutorial-mode.

How will diplomacy work? I mean will any alliances that are made be technically unofficial? Or is there some system that it has to go through?

Ty
That's a good question. Issue with alliances is that even if we force everyone to use a system, nothing stops them from doing unofficial backroom deals. I think that the best way to do it would be to have a hybrid, so that players are free to do unofficial alliances but doing official ones (with requirements) gives them bonuses.

Because being in an alliance gives you certain advantages, we have to limit them somehow. Teams forming alliances during Day 1 is not really the goal. I was thinking that there should be some kind of requirements that have to be met before two teams can form an alliance. For example there should be a certain number of Days without any PvP battles between them etc.

Merchants:  can you only buy each specific card in their respective capital city (i.e. only air cards can be bought in cloud city) or can you buy any card in any city?

Ownership of the City/Town will determine which cards can be bought. Details will be given during Day 1.

We will start with a very simple quest system at first and slowly move to a more complex one. This will be explained later.

Marks actually give you 3 upgraded cards, only Mark of :underworld give your 1 upped card. That is because the latter is special: Use the mark of the element that controls your current hex. If the hex is neutral, you can pick any mark. Additional upgraded cards are gained based on skills. 1 skill from a specific element = 1 upped card of that element.

This is something that will change from what it was earlier. Instead of players gaining revenue, it's the element that gains revenue. With this community pile of cash, teams can do stuff like build castles and put a bounty on their enemies. Players have to work for their own cash, literally. By using "Work" action, they gain cash based on how many hexes their element controls.

You can cross rivers without using a bridge.

If you discard below 30, you need to either wait a bit longer for a resurrection, or reset your character.

Yes, there will be all kinds of quests, not just ones that involve killing. :)

There is no specific rule just yet. We'll do it on a case-by-case basis. It depends a lot on previous activity. If you are active at some point, taking a longer break is not a big deal. But if you are never active, then you'll get replaced pretty fast.

What rez skills are we talking about here? "cover the whole team's rez needs" might suggests that you have misunderstood how the whole thing works.

Relics can either be sold or used with skills/quests.

Yes. Wait. :)

Then you cannot use those cards in WoE. It is your responsibility to acquire the cards in Elements. If you don't have them, you cannot use them.

Related to this, if a player is somehow forced to use a card he or she does not own, that card can be replaced with a Quantum Pillar which is basically a "filler" card of WoE.

I currently have three questions/comments.

 :entropy

Are skills considered passive (always active) without a cost?
Confusion: During a battle, your opponent must have at least 3 Quantum Pillars in his or her deck.
It's likely this will be bad if we get a discord, but can be beneficial before rares are affordable.

Trickster: Before a battle, choose 6 elements. Your opponent cannot use a mark from any of those 6 elements.
What if your opponent only has one mark skill?  It's likely that when you get this skill others are still focusing "in element" and don't have other marks unlocked yet.

Stellar Radiation: You can use up to 4 copies of the Supernova card during any battle. Cards disappear after the battle.
Are these copies not from your current library?
When it states "Cards disappear" is it referring to the 4 copies of Supernova?

That is all I have from a brief overlook I will try and find anything else unclear or questionable soon.

Skill trees have those triangles below the description. Those represent how many Action Points it costs to use that particular active skill. Skills that don't have triangles, are passive, therefore active at all times.

I think we had a plan for Trickster.. but I went ahead and just changed the description to this: "Before a battle, choose 6 elements. Your opponent can use any mark that is NOT from any of those 6 elements." . It's a quick fix that might be a fail so let me know if it is.

Stellar Radiation simply means that 4 bonus cards magically appear out of nowhere for the duration of the battle and then disappear just as magically.

Many skills refer to non-rare cards and in the bazaar many cards are donated pillar, common, uncommon, rare, epic, and item.
Would I be correct in assuming that this refers to pillar, common and uncommon?

I really think some skills many players would not always want active:
Illusion of Power: Grant your opponent up to 3 additional upgraded cards during a battle. If you win, salvage double amount of cards.
Confusion: During a battle, your opponent must have at least 3 Quantum Pillars in his or her deck.
These 2 would be my main concern for :entropy  I'm sure some other elements have similar issues with a skill or two.

This Trickster fix seems to be a good solution, but giving your opponent access to marks he doesn't have the skill for is a questionable move...
While this fits :entropy well thematically, it seems to be a bit underpowered for a tier III skill?  (more homework for me xD)

In Rules, under diplomacy it says that the leaders can change the diplomatic relationship (to Allied, Friendly, Cautious, Hostile)... just wondering who is the leader and how is that decided? Might be a nice thing to know :P.

Also, for Diplomacy... if alliances/changes in diplomatic relations happen, do we (both elements) just mail you about it? Or will there be a link that would have us automatically changes it and does all of that fancy stuffs?

Max salvage: Entropy T1, Illusion of Power (+3 upped for them, double salvage); Gravity T2, Equilibrium (if same deck size, tripple salvage); Gravity T2, Reckless Charge (double salvage for win); Life T3, Predator (+12 salvage if you EM once); Life T4, Champion of Life (+6 salvage) ... (6+12+6)*2*3*2 = 288 salvage.  Could be worse combinations.  Do we have a max cap or is this fine?

Max discard: Darkness T1, Backstab (+3 discard if you beat them 2/0); Fire T2, Fiery Rush (when charging, opponent discards dubble); Underworld T1, Critical Strike (+2 discard if you win) ... (12+2+3)*2=34 discard for a loss.  Could be worse combinations.  Do we have a max cap or is this fine?

Minimum discard: Light T3, Lightbringer (-6 less discard); Time T1, Stall (-6 discard if 40+ deck) ... -6-6=-12  =  no discard.  Is this and acceptable and intended?

Max 3 upgrades?: Death T4, Wither (opponents use 9 less upgraded cards); Water T3, Arctic Mage (Opponent can only use 12 upgraded cards max) ... so does this mean my opponent could only use 3 upgraded cards?

Misc: Does air's T1 skill, mobility cancel out Earth's T4 ability crystallize?  Are uncommon cards meant to be acquired through skills like Aether T1 Duplication, Entropy T2 Convert, Life T2 Nature Rituals (seems to make crafting worthless)? Can you become master of 2 elements using Time T3 scholar? Do relics stack in your inventory?

Correct, although that might change after the next round of nerfing.

Illusion of Power will be an active ability without a cost. I think it's the only skill that works that way.

Yea, Confusion kind of sucks because you would always have to fight against those 3 Quantum Pillars. We should somehow change it so that there would be more variation.

I agree. Trickster might be UP for tier 3 skill, but then again cutting Mark options of your opponent in half is no joke, especially when combined with other :entropy skills. You can prevent the opponent from playing certain types of decks that you know your opponent likes to play. We'll see how it plays out and make the necessary changes if needed.

This will be revealed when the event starts.

Alliances, official ones, will be made public by the leaders of that element, after which the organizers will take care of the rest.

Can team death have a replacement for Xn0ize, or is that a nono?
Already done. Xn0ize will be given spot number 7 when he returns.

I saw some of those combos myself yesterday. :) There won't be a cap because I think it would be lame to restrict clever skill combinations like that. But we do have to change some of the skills that multiply salvage/discard.

Minimum discard = 0 is fine.

"opponent could only use 3 upgraded cards" -combo is something we need to take a look at.

Yes.
No.
No, you can only be the Champion of one element.
No, one copy of an item per slot.

~~ Confusion! ~~

Correct, although that might change after the next round of nerfing.

Are uncommon cards meant to be acquired through skills like Aether T1 Duplication, Entropy T2 Convert, Life T2 Nature Rituals (seems to make crafting worthless)?
No.
Examples:
Duplication: Create a copy of any non-rare card currently in your possession.
Nature Rituals: Harvest 1 non-rate Life card from a Forest Hex.

From your answer to MatrimKK, you can duplicate, harvest, convert an uncommon card.  From your answer to me, you cannot.

I read in the rules that all non-common cards are considered rare, but the rules are old, and yea... I just want to be sure before I try to sit in my forest and make me some pendulums... that this is either okay, or not.

I think the confusion comes from the fact that skill trees are incorrect. I will fix them once WoE starts, but the basic idea is that all "create a card from nothing" skills will only produce common cards, and to produce uncommon ones, you need to use crafting. There might be some exceptions though.

Just a quick clarification (I know I know, I've posted a lot here... but I'm easily confused, so :3) all cards used in WoE (included upps) must be owned by the player in EtG, right? (Flying Weapon in WoE = Must have it in EtG as well, and Animate Weapon (upped) in WoE = Must have Animate Weapon (upped) in EtG). Just asking for clarification :S

Action Resolution Order: Since everyone is posting to the same round thread, I'd assume all the days actions will resolve within a set order.  Is it movement then other stuff? Example: Player 1,2,3 are on hex 3 when the round starts. They all use their actions to move to different hexes. I use stormbringer on hex 3. Will they get out before my storm hits them, or will they have to discard 6 and get to move too.  Issues with skills like caltrops (they move then get snared, or they get snared and their movement fizzles), pickpocket, sniper, etc... any skill that requires you to be on the same hex as your target.

Attacking, Charging: It sounds like if you try to attack, it occurs after the movement of the round. If I use attack and no one is on the hex after movement, my attack fizzles.  Likewise if I try to attack a specific player and they move off the hex.  Charge follows them 1 hex, aggressive 2.  I was not in the alpha, so I might be miss-understanding this, but it seems like the only way to catch someone specific is to move on their hex then next round aggressive charge, to make sure you keep up with them.  Then this would fizzle still if your target moves faster than 2.  You can't really move then attack, charge, because you can't tell their direction (1 in 6 guess right). If he sees you coming, I feel it will be impossible to really catch him.

Attacking in towns, cities: Can it be done?

Extra Actions: If I use an ability that takes 3 actions and I have nothing to use my last 1 of the day upon, do I get 5 the next round, or do I lose it?

Search: Will this action be of any use? What will searching do for a player?  I'd imagine this will become a dud skill, but if you have something happen, a random event, each time a player searches (gain an item, quest, take damage, gain a card, etc...) then this would be an awesome action.  Just curious upon your plans for this.  What difference is there between search and the life skill scouting (besides scouting costs 2 instead of 3)?

Improvements: What improvements are there to build (I know you are going to say 'will explain later', but I have to ask)? I saw talk about roads, I'll assume towns (since I see none on the map), fortresses, anything else?  Ways to more secure your influence (walls)?

Influence: Will the map have each hex highlighted with the color of the controller  Will it become a large game of grabbing hexes back and forth with capture?  Can you make hexes more immune to capture?  Does my influence have to attach in one solid chunk w/ my capital or can I take land anywhere?  Is the only benefit money?  Do we gain a specific amount of influence around our capitals that cannot be captured?

Map Modification: This seems to me, to be a very fun aspect of the game.  Life can make forests, earth can dig into mountains, hills, Fire and destroy stuff (assuming improvements) and burn forests, but that seems to be about it for now.  From your comments, things will change as we play.  I guess this isn't really a question, more of a, I hope we will gain a good deal of influence in our ability to shape the world.

You only really need it on the EtG side for use in PvP.  Using cards for skills such as Alchemy or Steam Pirate don't actually have to be owned on EtG.

Movement is the very last action to be performed.

Attacking in towns, cities: Can it be done?
IIRC, no. With the singular exception of Outlaw City.

You lose it.

As of now, it is the only defense against Lotus Traps. I don't know if it does anything further, but I'm pretty sure it doesn't.

The idea was to have players forge things like roads n' stuff of their own accord. The idea was to start with a "blank slate" of sorts and have the players shape it themselves as the event progresses.

No, just a flag (which is actually the "Mark of <element>" icon from the forums) will show up on captured hexes, the flags will correspond to the element that holds that hex.
Maybe, it all depends on what the players decide to do.
No.
If I understand this one correctly, no you can't pick up a hex and move it somewhere else. If that's not what you were looking for, then I have no idea what you are asking. :)
Yes.
No, land is always available for capture, but if you use capture on a hex that belongs to another element, that will only make the hex neutral. You must use another capture action to claim that now-neutral hex for your element.

Half of the Elements have crafting. What does the other half get instead of that? And where is a list of what each thing on the map is and what this does to the player(s) occupying that hex?

How do the upgrades work?

1. what determines the number of upgrades you can have?

2. what happens to the upgraded cards after that round?

Movement is the very last action to be performed.

Quote
Attacking in towns, cities: Can it be done?
IIRC, no. With the singular exception of Outlaw City.
Those two answers are incorrect.

Here's the correct order in which actions happen:
1. Basic/Special Actions
2. Movement Actions
3. Battle Actions

@ak65ala: yes, you understood correctly. It can be difficult to catch players sometimes, but it should be impossible. There are some skills that will help you, and you can only gang up on someone, limiting his or her retreat options. Also, WoE is all about gaining territory, so players who do nothing but retreat, won't be very useful to their element.

You cannot attack anyone who is inside a City, Town or Fortress, Outlaw City included. These places are safe-zones. Only way to attack a player inside it to first destroy the Wall and other defenses, then enter the hex as a hostile conqueror.

Btw.. I appreciate people helping by responding to questions on this topic , but when you do that, please make sure that you know the correct answer, because otherwise it will lead to a huge amount of confusion. Thanks.

Half of the Elements have crafting. What does the other half get instead of that? And where is a list of what each thing on the map is and what this does to the player(s) occupying that hex?
Elements that do no have crafting, have some other random skill instead. There is no equivalent to crafting.

There is no list like that currently. Unless told otherwise, you can treat all terrain as only eye candy. Some skills require special terrain, as well as some quests. But we might give mountains and water some kind of special mechanics, like limit movement somehow.

How do the upgrades work?

1. what determines the number of upgrades you can have?

2. what happens to the upgraded cards after that round?
1. Skills you have. For each skill you have from a specific element, you gain one additional upgraded cards (plus any ups that skill might give you). Marks are only exception because they give you 3 upgraded cards from that element.

2. You can use these "upgrade credits" to temporarily upgrade any card in your deck. After the battle, all cards return to normal and during the next battle you can use those "upgrade credits" to upgrade something else. Your character sheet will tell you how many cards, and from which element, you can upgrade.

Can i change my tier 1 skill NOW??
Yes. You can change it as many times as you like before Day 1 topic gets posted.

That's news to me. I thought we decided back in Alpha that Outlaw City would be an exception to this?

You need to become one to know that.

It was suggested but not decided. I like the original plan (copied from MMORPG's) where cities are safe-zones where you can hang out without having to fear that someone ganks you. Also, theme-wise, it's more logical this way. Players are commanding armies, and two armies suddenly attacking each other in the middle of a city is something that rarely happens. If you want to fight, you gotta take it outside the city walls into the open.

Only concern to me was the fact that there were too many safe-zones, allowing someone to jump from one to the next. However with a bigger map and less Cities/Towns, this is less of a problem.

We might see some changes to this later, but for now, all Cities and Towns are safe-zones.

Iirc, there was the capability of moving the Iron Birds.  Who is this limited to?  Do you gain the ability when you obtain the Iron Bird Pilot skill, or is it strictly Gravity players, regardless of having the skill?

Is there a level limit?  In the rules, the table of experience goes up to level 24, but does not mention that that is the maximum level possible, or that there is one possible at all.  I was figuring until a team member pointed it out, that the max level was 40, since we are given a total space of 41 skills, including marks.

Most likely, yes.

24 is max. IF you do not believe me, try to enter a big number in the XP cell in your Character Sheet. :)

You can buy them at the respective element merchant, not the neighboring merchants by the way, since they only sell the neighboring common cards.

Actually they change in real time. This means that two different people buying cards during the same round, could potentially pay different prices. You are required to use the prices as they are when you submit your actions. If prices change 5 minutes later, there is no refund.

I would also like to add that this was not really a design solution. It's basically the only option we have without having to use some elaborate merchant system.

It was supposed to start 1-2 hours ago but I realized that the map is missing hex numbers. I've been adding those and let me tell you it's not a small task. :) But no worries, Day 1 topic will be up very soon, maybe in 1 hour or something.

Same thing happens that would happen in real life if you learned to swim all over again. You can only have one copy of each skill.

Mark cards are ultra-rare in WoE. Currently there is no known way to obtain them.

Any response to these questions that was not by me should be taken with a grain of salt.

Unofficially, teams can pick whoever they want as their leader, but there will be an official way as well. Currently all elements are leaderless, but at some point a leader (a player) will emerge.

How long does a "game" last, how many rounds, or infinite (doubt though?)
I believe you can join anytime you wish? You can join say 10th round still? (Would that be clever/balanced? :P).

Hope I can figure my more detailist answers by looking at how the current rounds go.

WoE has different parts, each with their own storyline quests and an ending. After a small break, the next part will continue from where the first one ended. Lets say :gravity wins WoE 1 and rules all other elements. WoE 2 would then continue from a situation where :gravity is the strongest and others try to dethrone :gravity.

You can join WoE any time as long as there are free spots in teams. Each team now has 6 players. Soon this number will be increased to 12.

I think merchants have a limited amount of all cards, regardless of their rarity. Though they probably have less of rarer cards. And NO, gravity will not win. Entropy shall rule all of the elements.

In the top right corner of the map next to the Time Capital city, there are TWO hexes that are numbered '212'; the hexes in the columns right and left of that are all numbered accurately, but for some reason that one had started off with two '212' hexes, then were numbered down accordingly. ^^; Is there a way to fix that?

Actually, it only happens up to 224, as the next column correctly starts off with 226, skipping 225 when the numbers change columns.

EDIT: Question of my own.  What happens if I am successfully attacked by more than one player during the same day? Is there an ambush condition that forces a disadvantage upon each individual fight, do I regularly fight them in the same day with no disadvantages, or only the first person to submit the successful attack fight me that day?

For the Transport Iron Bird action, how much AP would that be? 3 like the travel action between them?

When you are attacked by someone, you become locked in battle with that player and others cannot attack you. It doesn't really matter whether you get jumped by 1 person or 1000. This will all be explained in more detail when the time comes.

Yes, 3 AP.

This will be explained later. Currently, it's not possible to declare Peace because all teams are lacking the diplomatic tools to do that.

Can there be a bit more tutorial on trade?  I think I did it correctly but am not really sure :P  Also the merchant link wouldn't load after many many minutes, is this (https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/pub?hl=en_US&key=0AiwMGGakrptadFU5eWQtaWFENjNQcUlONzlqWDVwWGc&hl=en_US&gid=36) acceptable to use, or is it outdated?

Sorry submitting actions is still a bit new for me and so are the actions xD
The link you put there IS the correct merchant link.

Trading is simple. Use an action called Trade (no target) and buy and see cards according to the price. Big number is buying price and small number is selling price. Update your character sheet and you are done.

How does the bargaining skill work?
It says it gives you a different cost for the cards, but i dont know what that cost is(which means i will have a hard time with my sheet).
Yea, sorry that description was outdated. Please use this temporary fix:

Card buying price is always the same as it is in the Capital City of that particular element.

So for example if you want to buy an :aether card from Outlaw City, you will look at Aether City price (50% cheaper) instead of Outlaw City price. It might be a bit OP but it'll do as a temporary solution.

Hey, Just wondering how I sign up to play this, I got my 30 posts  :))

I just have a minor suggestion. I am all for that new actions part added to our team spreadsheets. Is it possible to place our names next to the :darkness 1,2 ,3,4,5,6 etc.. How many of my teammates are going to memorize that I am #1 .. this person is #6 and later on this person is #12? Just think it would be easier to put both their # 1-6 (later 1-12) and then their name.

Well the tab right next to it (summary) would let you match names with numbers :)

This is a known bug in Google Docs. There is no workaround to it but the problem will usually correct itself in a couple of minutes.

Yes. They can be built on any terrain.

When you search an area, will you only find things in marked hexes, (for example a gold hex) or can you find cool stuff in normal unmarked hexes too?

So I saw the action "capture" - and read it can be used twice a turn, though is there anything else a capture can be combined with? - Seems like using capture once is a totally stupid (and weird it is possible) otherwise.

You can capture to make a hex from another Element Neutral. (example: you capture a hex from team water, that hex now becomes neutral)
You can then capture to make the neutral hex your own! (example: you capture the neutral hex, that hex will now be captured by your team)

Capture costs 2 AP so can be combine with a move action (2 AP also) the same turn. Team Underworld can capture to make hexes neutral, but they can't claim the ground for their team!

Search will find things that are hidden. Things like Gold are visible to everyone, therefore using Search does nothing to them, unless there is also something hidden in that same hex. Oh and by the way.. that Gold is not something you can take. It's gold inside that Mountain which means you need to build a Mine on top of it.

My recommendation: Do not go crazy with the Search action at this point of the event. You will very likely find nothing. Search will be more useful later.

So if i am on the Tunnel hex and i move can i pick any other Tunnel exit to pop out of? also is it still 2 ap to do so?  how many AP do we have? is it 2 or 5? the rules say 2 but if capture =2 and move = 2 maybe i missed something somewhere. if it is 5.. can i capture move to tunnel then when i move next time can i pick an exit to start my move from? or does it cost a move to go from tunnel start to exit?

For starters, you will need the Tunnel Rat skill from Earth.

Then you can travel to another tunnel up to 5 hexes away for 3AP.

I believe that you can only move to camels that are exactly two hexes away from each other (i.e. - you can't move from one camel to another one that's three or more hexes away). The camels not on the path are basically 'leaves' of the same branch, where they aren't traveled as often compared to the supposed "main path" from the Time capital city to ship in the southwest corner.

In other words, you can move to them, but make sure you're on a hex that's two or less hexes away from them before moving to them, or else the movement will be illegal I believe. :)

You can use up to 4 Action Points to perform any actions you like. You will find all available actions here (https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/pub?hl=en_US&key=0AgB8fZX7y8kydHBtU0RNOC1yeFk2cTRIRzhCaDFyekE&hl=en_US&gid=32).

What happens if you lose vs. someone??
how many cards do you need to discard??
Winner starts a new topic in the "Battle Results" section. That topic includes the deck used and a short description of the battle. Winner can also salvage up to 6 cards from the losing deck.

Loser posts his or her deck on the "Battle Results" topic started by the winner. Loser has to discard 12 cards from his or her deck, and wait for resurrection.

Fire Pillars and Immolation are common cards, so you can still get Fire quanta by buying these from Death/Entropy towns. Another option is the Darkness skill that allows you to enter hostile towns. (tough luck for Light if they want something from Darkness :P)

Although I'm not certain, capturing that Fire town and making it your own, or letting some other non-hostile team capture it, might be an option, too.

Everyone needs that skill, although when talking about the boat, it might actually be cool if one person could transport.. say 3 other players. Who knows, we might change that skill.

Is there a list with current Global Quests?
Global Quests are posted globally and are basically a "race" between all elements on who completes the quest first. We currently have zero global quests active so there is no list.

This is something I was going to talk about later. I think the best way would be something like this:

MARK -> Any City or Town
TIER 1 -> City or Town of that element OR neighboring element
TIER 2 -> City or Town of that element
TIER 3 -> City of that element

Something like that.

Players will be given an option to either capture it, or destroy it. Latter gives you some extra resources (at a cost of not getting a new Town or City)

You want it to use with other fire cards, like rage pots and such, which you can order from the cheapest not-fire source(and that one is me right now).
Just take a boat/ride/camel/just walk to enjoy our premium line of off-element cards, obtained with the last in bargaining tecnology!
Please announce yourself in advance so the patrol doesnt think you are hostile(lets avoid any incidents that compromise trading routes).

Hmm...been looking over the Skill Trees.  I'm a bit curious.

1.  If I use Breeding as an action, does this allow me to sell and/or trade the card I obtained through breeding during the same day?

2.  I would ask the same of Nature Rituals, but since the card is random I don't see how that's possible.  However, how exactly are we informed of the card that we receive?  Will it appear somewhere on our Character Sheets, telling us what card we received?

3.  I noticed that the Actions sheet only allows for 2 move options.  I'm assuming that even if we have enough AP to do otherwise that we're limited to using Animal Form twice per turn?  Also, how are you keeping track of moves made with Animal Form; is there a specific method you're using which will prevent you from mistaking the 1 AP cost as 2 and considering one of the moves invalid?

In the current day, you mention fortresses. As I was in Alpha, I theoretically know what they are, though my knowledge is from when Gravity alone was able to build them from an outdated skill. I'm going to guess that all elements are capable of building them now, and Gravity's replacement skill simply reduces the cost and effort for them. In that case, what is the base cost for a fortress?

1. Yes.
2. Not random. You pick a card.
3. You assumed correctly. It's a problem with the form that may be (at least partially) fixed at some point by adding a third drop-down to all categories. Players themselves are responsible for not using too many AP's. If a mistake happens, it's not the end of the world but I'm hoping people pay attention. I'll try to see those errors myself, but I won't see them all.

All elements will be able to build different kinds of structures and improvements. The price list is not ready yet.

The basic idea is that what is happening is the birth of a civilization. Teams are currently not advanced enough to build anything. As civilizations grow, more options will be given.

The train action is only to use already earned skill points.

The only ways to get exp are by battling, doing quests, or some specific skills.

Training:
- You submit Train in the Action Submission Form
- You manually add the skill you'd like to train to your Character Sheet (you can only do this when you have an unused Skill Point)

Trading:
- You submit Trade in the Action Submission Form
- You manually add or remove cards from your card pool and manually add or remove electrum from your electrum pool. (in your Character Sheet!)
- When you want to trade with a player you need to sumbit the Action "trade with" and include a target *player name*

I just looked at my character sheet and noticed I had failed to complete Expand Borders back on Day 3.  I ran the script that was supposed to complete it for me, and I got the message "You do not have permission to do this (line 17)."

I've added the 2xp, but I don't know what to do about finishing the quest.

Manually add the 2 exp like you just did. The quest cannot be completed at this point because of the bug you just mentioned.

The :water quest says in the notes:
- The Entire team can complete it.
- No Special actions have to be done, you can just fulfill the task and it get's automatically completed.

I do not wish to give more info since I am not sure if all Elements tasks are the same! I hope this helps.

quests can still be done even if it is no longer the day for that quest right?

So someone (who hasn't done it yet) can still start + finish expanding borders quests (from day 1)?

Does the "Bonus XP and Reputation" section apply to both winners and losers? I had been assuming it was winners only, but looking at it again it looks like it applies to both (meaning if you bring a mono deck for example, then you can get +1xp and rep of your element even if you lose.
Is that correct?

Ah I see what the problem was. The table is listed in two places. Under "Battle" it makes it look like bonus xp always applies, but under "deckbuilding" it clarifies that it's just winners.

Just reset everything like it was when you started. Use blank character sheet as an example.

Related to this, we might have to start looking into buffing UW a bit, especially the revenue side of things.

Everything including skills, quests completed, reputation, etc? Or just everything electrum related like cards, items and money?
Does resetting require an action?

And yes, some way for UW to get revenue, either singularly or as a faction, would be good. As-is we can't effectively buy back cards if we lose them. If I get some brilliant idea for how it could be done, I'll be sure to post it.  :)

Kuro suggested a system where when UW players neutralize hexes, they get some electrum as a reward. Theme-wise, we could see it as UW player pillaging the hex. This should help a bit, but I think more buffs are probably needed.

Just thinking out loud here, but what if the amount gained by "pillaging" was based on how large the kingdom that owned the hex was? That way it would be more dynamic, and would encourage UW players to weaken the more powerful nations by neutralizing their hexes (which fits with the Anarchy theme of UW). As far as exact numbers go, we could try just making the reward for pillaging a hex the same as the amount given to one of that nations players for working. It'd allow UW to possibly get as much "work" money as the richer nations, but on the other hand would be much more dangerous, since the richer an enemy you loot, the more powerful an enemy you make too. It has a lot of advantages and disadvantages compared to the typical Work action, but I think it would balance out pretty close.

Also, when you say resetting a character reverts "everything", does that include skills, quests completed, reputation, etc? Or just everything electrum related like cards, items and money?

Maybe make the action "pillage" instead of "neutralize"? - Then an underworld player gets electrum based on what somebody of the original element would get when they "work":

ie say as a fire user you earn 20 electrum / work action.. Now an underworld can neutralize a fire hex: he would then get the original "earnings" a fire player would get + have it neutralized: 20.

This way underworld "grows" like other elements do (I think?). And it has a complete different "method" still: they can "neutralize" & earn at the same time.. Yet have to keep moving (strategically) to have a  consistent income. For balance make it:
N * x
Where x is the original electrum a player would achieve, and N is a balancing constant, say 0.75?

So in above example you would earn:
15 e.

There are strengths and weaknesses in both methods. Most players can safely sit in a city and work over and over again until they have the money they need. Underworlders would need to be constantly moving around out in the open, and would be annoying whatever nation who's hexes they were neutralizing, quite likely resulting in being attacked by members of that nation. Neutralizing a hex isn't terribly beneficial for UW, as all it does is give them more mark options if they get in a fight in that exact hex. Moving and earning on the same turn will be great when there's a nice line of enemy hexes between you and a destination, but not so great when you use up all the nearby hexes and have to either travel a long ways or pillage from a potential ally.

Which is to say, I don't think it requires further balancing at this point, at least not until it gets tested.

:time's T2 "Research" skill cannot be used to learn a T2 skill that would not otherwise be available, can it?

Ex:

I have Research, and the T1 :darkness skill Quanta Leech. I have a skill point and a Relic available. I use Research to temporarily gain the T1 :darkness skill Spell Resistance, and then use my skill point to learn Shadow Leap, a T2 skill.

I know the answer is most likely no, I am merely trying to confirm. The wording on Research also slightly leads to this conclusion, as it reads "Replace this skill with any Tier 1 skill from any of the 13 skill trees."

Also, the text is not clear on whether the 6 day recharge begins after the temporary skill leaves or as you gain it. I assume the former, but would like to be certain.

I think this is a perfect solution.  I especially love the "Robin Hood" effect that will encourage UW players to "steal from the rich" rather than pestering elements that are already at a disadvantage. UW would act as a kind of balanced which fits their anti-mono theme perfectly.

Resetting will reset everything. It will be Day 1 all over again.

As far as exact numbers go, we could try just making the reward for pillaging a hex the same as the amount given to one of that nations players for working.

It might not be that big of a deal because when you 'Work' all you need to do is sit around in your City and count your money. For UW players it will be more difficult because they are under a threat of attack. If it turns out to be unfair advantage to UW players, we can always nerf it a bit.

Nope. You can use the skill but you are not considered having that skill.

Each 6 Days, you can use 'Research' to learn a new skill that will stay with you that full 6 Days without the option to cancel it. There is no recharge between skill ending and using 'Research' again.

How will Improved Trading work, I would write Improved Trading *Player*? and how will the othere player Im trading with write this?
Most likely you and the other player would both just use the "trade with" action.

How do I set My starting Skill?

How do I set My starting Skill?
Go to your Character Sheet (probably tab 8 )

You see "Mark of Life" in a grey box under MARK SKILLS?
Right next to that is a section TIER 1 SKILLS, click the grey box under that and a drop down menu will appear (click the little arrow). Select your skill.

How exactly is Work revenue calculated?  Because :earth seems to control less territory than we do, make less Elemental revenue than we do, and yet their Work is worth more.  Why? 8)

Work Revenue = Element Revenue / No. of players in Element / 2. Then round up/down.

And I am not sure about the rest.

Ah, so the difference stems from the fact that they haven't received their newest Recruit yet, and we have.  Gotcha. :)

Your Character Sheet. Look at the Cards section. Below the Total Number of cards for that Element.

I'm not 100% certain, but I think Improved Trading isn't a special action, just a skill that enhances a basic action.

Any cards your WoE character owns. Look at the bottom half of your Character Sheet to see the list of what you own.

You can own anything if you get it, by trading.

Any cards you start with or buy. You buy cards from the merchants using the "trade" action in a city. The merchants have different cards and prices for those cards depending on which city you're in. View the merchants here:

After you beat someone you get to use some action points, does this mean you could capture the hex now if you just beat the only player from another team on that hex?  (I assume the answer is yes, would be silly otherwise, but just want to make sure)

Yes, you can do that.

  • Can you give a bound Stone of Return to a teammate for them to use?
  • Can you give an unbound Stone of Return to a teammate for them to Bind and use?

PM SG and Kuroaito I guess. There is currently no dire need for quest ideas though.

  • The game is already playing? I mean, if I enter WoE I will be at disadvantage with a lot of persons?
  • I must wait until I have 30 forum post? I can't start playing right now?
  • I got a lot of upgraded cards (for me, it's a lot jeje) so I can't play them? Because two of them are rare weapons!
  • I got two game accounts, I think I can only play with ome right?
  • what happens if I don't have the cards in my game account?
Thanks I'll appreciste your help  :)  :fire  :earth  :gravity
Hi and welcome!

WoE is not active right now, but the beta testers will get to keep their characters (I think), though nobody will be at a huge disadvantage.
There is probably something you can do with upped cards, but you can't use all of them.
I think you can use both but one is probably better.
Well, if they're non rares, buy them. You're not forced to use any cards, you can buy and sell cards that you want/don't want to use.

1. The game is already playing? I mean, if I enter WoE I will be at disadvantage with a lot of persons?
2. I must wait until I have 30 forum post? I can't start playing right now?
3. I got a lot of upgraded cards (for me, it's a lot jeje) so I can't play them? Because two of them are rare weapons!
4. I got two game accounts, I think I can only play with ome right?
5. what happens if I don't have the cards in my game account?
1. WoE Alpha and Beta have ended. The start date of the official launch is unknown but won't be that far in the future. You will not have a disadvantage.
2. Yep, you need 30 forum posts. That's not that hard is it? :)
3. You can use certain upgraded cards yes.
4. You can use any of those two to play your WoE battles.
5. You can;t use them in your WoE army/deck

TIP: read the rules! :D

hi

are there other charges on a team, besides being the king? I guess that the first king of a team is chosen by the WoE crew, and how could that position change?

I want to play now! :P

I forget if the problem with inactivity during the course of the game was solved or not, and I don't know if a solution of any kind was thought of, but maybe you could make getting yourself resurrected from the spirit world into your own town like usual an action that you can do if you're in the spirit world. That way maybe the inactives don't get resurrected to die again if they died because of inactivity? I dunno, this is just a random thought I had, not to mention the WoE part of the forum is feeling lonely  :(
