I read through the Rules thread again.  Here's some random feedback:
  • Trading could be reworked, as I mentioned in chat.
  • Fire starting deck needs a nerf, as I mentioned in chat and others have mentioned.
  • Can I "Attack *Player*"an ally?  If so, rare farms are possible.
  • Does losing a duel cost you electrum?
  • You may want to add the bit about getting 2 upped cards for each "Mark of" skill and 1 upped card for each other skill.
  • You may want to add more about siege weapon damage.
  • You may want to add more about dropping quests.
  • Do players who arrive at their home city while their garrison is fighting get a chance to defend?  I can envision a scenario where a player keeps respawning at a nearby town and rushing back to fight off the siege.
  • Is there a resource benefit to capturing hexes?
  • Can a player Aggressively Attacking me follow me into a city in which he is not allowed?
  • If Light declares war on Darkness but DarknessPlayerA is already in a Light city, is he booted?  If not, can another player Shadow Leap to DarknessPlayerA?
  • I think I've asked this before, but who controls the NPC Garrisons?  If it's the WoE organizers, do they have accounts with enough upped cards?
  • Why siege?  The rewards don't seem to justify the required massive coordinated effort.
  • You have to move to a town to collect your Global Auction item won.  Do you have to move to a town to collect your electrum on items sold?  (Really only relevant if there's an electrum penalty for losing duels.)
  • It looks like banks were removed.  I'd recommend you keep a list of revisions but that's probably more work for you than it's worth.  Meh.
  • Are there any advantages to Peace or Alliances?
  • Am I allowed to revise my actions before the day ends?
These are nitty, I know.  I'm just trying to help you think about problems before they arise.

I just noticed the rule stating that "You are always at war with your opposing element."
So, does this mean that if I want to learn a skill of my opposing element, I have to either:
  • learn the darkness's skill Disguise and sneak into their city to stalk their trainer
  • conquer the opposing element's town (hoping that the trainer there will be willing to train me if I ask him nicely with my sword pointing at his throat)
  • perform some strange quest for some strange hermit who knows the skill but doesn't live in opposing element's town (if Quest organizers agree)

And by the way, will it be even possible to become a champion of two opposing elements? Let's say I'm a champion of Time with 24 lvl (argh... I hate level caps) and 28 skill points (thanks to Scholar skill). Can I also be a champion of Aether or even a champion of any other element?
With a level cap of 24 it would be impossible without the Scholar skill, and I guess it would take a few ages anyway to achieve that, but I'm just wondering if it is a path worth pursuing.
Also, except for war issues, are there any problem or any cap to the skills you learn from other elements?
(Example: you can't learn more skills of another element than you have of yours, you can't be master of another element, you can't do [insert skill build here] etcetera).

Attacking your allies is the sort of thing that really should be possible, as players shouldn't be entirely restricted by the diplomacy stances. Perhaps it should be impossible to win rares from another player?

If you can make it into the city, presumably the answer is yes.

Capturing a hex means that your element starts receiving tribute from it, which is distributed amongst players of your element each round.

I would guess that they'd be booted or be forced to move out the next round.

Capturing cities is a big deal. Players get massive bonuses from having cities, including respawn points, quests, merchants and so forth. If you can take a city from an opponent you have seriously weakened them and strengthened yourself.

Plus there are probably going to be high-level quests where the objective is to capture a city.

It seems like Darkness is getting the short end of the stick. Gravity, Earth, Time, Life, Fire, and Water all have unique abilities that are beneficial to other elements, making them ideal allies. That means, their survival rate is high, since few would want to destroy a valuable ally. However, Darkness has no allying benefits. This means it will either be a "suspicious" or an "enemy". This lowers their survival rate drastically, making the playing ground uneven. Why should Gravity get a better spot in the world, when elements like Darkness don't even have a way to attract allies?
