Yeah, thanks. I hate you folks in charge as well - mostly, if not solely, due to the fact that I can't participate in having the great honor of testing a alpha version which is probably run in a speed enhanced mode.
Even Starcraft invited me for alpha testing (no, I'm not a really good starcraft gamer actually) but for WoE i'm simply not kewl eough

How will the beta and the actuall WoE be announced? Will a big link appear on the forums starting page, so that I see it (as I usually enter the forums once a day) or do I need to check a specific section of the forums (and when yes, which one? The uppermost "WoE" one? How often?)

Don't worry you won't miss it. We will have big links, announcement topics, fireworks, elephants running around, things like that..

And even if you miss it, you can still join even though it has already started.

I can update things for you.  Because SG is MIA from posting, it's planplan and Timerclock14 that are doing work in their respective sections.  Unfortunately, Alpha is all but stopped now, but WoE is still in development.
